Not really seeing anywhere that he was hired, just rumors that he interviewed/is one of UM's targets. OP where are you seeing twitter rumors that he was hired?
Honestly, I hope this the fallback guy. I would much prefer Sean Spencer(PSU), Brian Baker(MSU) or Ben Albert(Duke).
January 14th, 2019 at 3:46 PM ^
OP doesn't say he was hired, just that there's a lot of chatter about him interviewing and the possibility he ends up in AA.
January 14th, 2019 at 8:21 PM ^
Read it in your Ron Burgundy voice. There is a '?' at the end of the sentence.
January 14th, 2019 at 3:54 PM ^
Sean Spencer ain’t making a lateral move
January 14th, 2019 at 4:20 PM ^
Spencer already made a lateral move going from Vandy to PSU. Michigan DL coach would be a huge promotion for him.
January 14th, 2019 at 5:17 PM ^
In what timeline is Vandy to Penn State a lateral move?
January 14th, 2019 at 5:44 PM ^
It was a joke making fun of PSU. Guess I needed to make it more obvious, sorry.
January 14th, 2019 at 4:25 PM ^
Not unless Um pays him stupid money for a position coach. He already makes 700k at PSU.
January 14th, 2019 at 4:29 PM ^
Central Pennsylvania to Ann Arbor is an upgrade.
January 14th, 2019 at 4:38 PM ^
working with Dr Blitz would also be an upgrade.
GET SPENCE
January 14th, 2019 at 8:25 PM ^
Yeah and I want Larry Johnson.....doesn’t mean he’s interested.
January 14th, 2019 at 3:16 PM ^
Nua way? Resume looks solid! Awesome!
January 14th, 2019 at 5:00 PM ^
He has coached two places. What is it that you see on his resume that you like? It doesn't look note-worthy to me.
January 14th, 2019 at 5:14 PM ^
ASU's defensive line was not very good by any statistic--traditional or fancystat--that I can find. In fact, it was mostly below average. Not impressed. Feels like this would be a strange hire.
January 14th, 2019 at 9:53 PM ^
And if you were looking at those types of stats, what was the difference from before he was there and up to now?
January 14th, 2019 at 3:17 PM ^
Is it wrong to point out that I'm not seeing more than one or two twitter mentions and none from anyone who would know?
January 14th, 2019 at 4:21 PM ^
You are correct. The only mentions I see on twitter are referring to this board post.
January 14th, 2019 at 4:55 PM ^
Let me send some tweets out without mentioning this board post to get more validity for this board post.
January 14th, 2019 at 3:19 PM ^
With all these young active recruiters I think it's time to reclaim our rightful spot as the top recruiter in the Midwest/North.
January 14th, 2019 at 3:41 PM ^
Da King in da Norf?
January 14th, 2019 at 4:02 PM ^
DA KING IN DA NORF!
January 14th, 2019 at 5:03 PM ^
Nobody is overtaking Ohio State in recruiting til somebody overtakes them on the field.
January 14th, 2019 at 5:18 PM ^
UM literally had a higher ranked recruiting class this current cycle
(and yes, blah blah avg vs #'s all that. Still).
January 14th, 2019 at 5:53 PM ^
Actually I think our average rank8ng was higher if you took OSUs 16 man class and matched them against our top 16.
January 14th, 2019 at 7:30 PM ^
I think by any reasonable measure UM's 2019 class was better than OSU's.
I don't think there's any reasonable measure by which it was far better than OSU's.
It's a bit of a stretch to generalize this forward. OSU was dealing with really bad PR, and the Head Coach was suspended for 2 months, during which time he couldn't recruit. OSU's class was worse than it had been other years under Meyer, and if that's just a one year blip, it's not such a big deal.
On the other hand, we have no idea what to expect out of Day. We don't know his floor or his ceiling. We will get some clues from 2020, but a lot of the groundwork for that class has alreay been layed, so I think 2021 will be the first really strong bit of evidence.
For Harbaugh's part, 2019 was a very good class, but 2018 was pretty bad. UM should never, ever have a year like 2018, period. So while 2019 is very encouraging, it would be prudent to wait a few more years to see if it's the norm or not.
January 14th, 2019 at 3:21 PM ^
Not a bad get if so.
January 14th, 2019 at 3:25 PM ^
Anytime you have an opportunity to get connected to Samoan defensive lineman, do it.
January 14th, 2019 at 3:26 PM ^
What about Hoke?
January 14th, 2019 at 3:29 PM ^
I spoke with Brady - he thinks Shaun Nua would be a great hire as well.
January 14th, 2019 at 3:29 PM ^
So...Hoke was the worst. That would be super-awkward. Full-stop.
(that's how the kids talk these days, I think).
January 14th, 2019 at 3:36 PM ^
I hate when people start a response to anything with "So." Not a whole lot bothers me, I am not grammar police or anything like that, but "so" feels like a really cheap way to start a response. It feels like a conversational "cheat."
January 14th, 2019 at 3:39 PM ^
I agree. It's the new "basically" and "honestly" or "to be honest" - which aren't that removed from just starting a sentence with "ugghhhhh". Can't stand vocal-fry either.
January 14th, 2019 at 4:16 PM ^
At least he didn't "yada yada yada" over the part about Hoke...that could have been awkward.
January 14th, 2019 at 5:18 PM ^
So, basically, you honestly just gave us what we need to drive you insane (said with a little fry).
/I'madick
January 14th, 2019 at 3:49 PM ^
@ijohnb - how do you feel about "wellllllll"?
January 14th, 2019 at 4:08 PM ^
So much better
January 14th, 2019 at 4:28 PM ^
My pet peeve (especially among NFL announcers, looking at you Booger and Witten) is when someone starts a conversation with "You talk about..."
"You talk about a guy who can block." "When you talk about fast, you talk about this guy." "Talk about a coach who knows how to scheme." Booger and Witten start their sentences this way at least 20 times per game. No, you assholes, I wasn't talking about that. No one was. Find a new way to lazily start a sentence.
On the plus side, my dad and I have turned it into a drinking game.
January 14th, 2019 at 4:39 PM ^
So.....you enjoy when Troy Aikman calls a game on Fox?
January 14th, 2019 at 4:42 PM ^
Kill me.
January 14th, 2019 at 5:15 PM ^
Favorites: "playing with tempo" fast tempo, slow tempo? Tempo does not mean fast.
"Trickeration"
January 14th, 2019 at 5:46 PM ^
"Rythym"
January 14th, 2019 at 9:53 PM ^
My biggest peeve is when a team runs a reverse and the announcer stupidly calls it a "double reverse". You almost never see a double reverse.
I can see a random fan not knowing the difference, but it kills me when a professional commentator doesn't
January 14th, 2019 at 3:30 PM ^
Not in the mix.
January 14th, 2019 at 3:42 PM ^
Why would anyone buy what you are selling?
Mattison will retire before going to OSU! Derp
Only a year late on Pep potentially cleaning out his office!
January 14th, 2019 at 4:01 PM ^
At least umbig11 gives information. I don't understand how Michigan fans on Twitter follow and drool all over every tweet from Bluevod. They guy will tweet some shit like "things are happening ", or "tick tock" and people ask him 50 questions and he says absolutely nothing. Ever. Umbig11 can't always be right, but he does provide some insider stuff.
January 14th, 2019 at 4:04 PM ^
Are you following umbig11 at this point? I feel like I've seen you going at him out of nowhere more than a few times now
umbig11 knows people who know things, sometimes they are right and sometimes they are wrong. Such is the nature of rumors and uncertain situations
January 14th, 2019 at 4:06 PM ^
Dumb take is dumb. UMBig has been right on much more than he has missed. Hold yourself to the same standard you do him, and you will forever remain silent
January 14th, 2019 at 4:06 PM ^
I will never understand people who go after UMBig11 for no reason. The majority of the info he has posted on here usually ends up being true. As he's often stated during coaching searches...things are fluid. Look at what happen with Enos last year...not even Harbaugh saw that one coming. Just enjoy what the guy brings to the table and quit your whining.
January 14th, 2019 at 4:15 PM ^
Woof. Did UMBig really say those things?
January 14th, 2019 at 4:27 PM ^
Oh, I did. It was a total surprise to a lot of people.
