A request for the moderators.....

Can you see what you can do to allow us to edit the depth chart by class

https://mgoblog.com/content/michigan-depth-chart-class-0

and the 2-deep

https://mgoblog.com/content/unofficial-two-deep

pages?

It was mentioned when I posted the depth chart thread (by a moderator) to use these, but as I posted in that thread when I try to edit them I get this error

This field has been disabled because you do not have sufficient permissions to edit it.

It would be nice to be able to use those and update them from time to time and post a thread saying they have been updated for people to have discussion about.

Thanks!

Not going to happen. They won’t (and shouldn’t) have these open for anybody to edit. Yours had a couple errors in positions players are playing for example. Not major ones but if someone were to nitpick, there were a number of mistakes.

Its better for everyone if the people allowed to edit those is very restricted. It would be rendered completely useless if people were allowed to edit it based on an opinion or a rumor.

Well, although I don't personally have the ability to return the capability to users (that's probably a Brian / Seth thing), I will say that the depth charts generally weren't given to the snark and sarcasm of the board and usually stood just fine on their own. Even in the understanding that there depth chart is not the depth chart per se because that's exactly how the coaches like it, they were even fairly accurate from time to time.

That's about the exact opposite of what LSA just said. He said the depth chart was usually pretty accurate and it was rarely if ever abused, but he doesnt have a power to restore that feature.

It was a helpful tool that I referred to regularly and for whatever it's worth, I'd have no problem if reddog (a very trusted mgoblogger) got in there and brought it up to speed.

The old version of Mgoblog allowed thread creation and voting at 100 points, and "trusted user" status at 500 points (IIRC).  Trusted users were allowed to edit the depth charts, etc.  It seems these issues are still being sorted out in the new version.

Seems there are a handful of members that like creating/editing/ depth charts.  Seems to me it'd be fairly easy to give them permissions to do so.

If someone screws up, I'm sure it will brought up IMMEDIATELY by the rest of us who like looking at depth charts and can quickly be corrected.

When I saw the title "A Request for the Moderators," I'd hoped it was something I could really get behind, like:

Instead of sending trolls to Bolivia, can we line them up and have them shot?

Instead, it was just about editing the two-deep. Gotta tell you - I'm a little disappointed.

you know sam, nothing prevents you from posting that thought as an OP, something along the lines of "Trolls - ban 'em, boliviate 'em, or shoot 'em".   guessing you have a lot of hits on that one.  could also cause someone to get a personal protection order against anyone named 'sam1863, but that's a whole 'nother matter.

will wait for your OP...
