I am sure this can somehow be construed to be a misstep by Harbaugh.

You're a mean one.......

Opened the thread just for this comment
January 4th, 2019 at 2:14 PM ^
the three words i would use to describe him are, and i quote:
stink
stank
stunk
January 4th, 2019 at 2:39 PM ^
i wouldn't touch him with a 39 1/2 foot pole.
January 4th, 2019 at 2:15 PM ^
Does this create an opening on the staff so they can bring Al Washington on board albeit in a different role?
January 4th, 2019 at 2:15 PM ^
Hope that doesn’t mean they fill that open spot with Washington
January 4th, 2019 at 2:44 PM ^
Is Washington the coach responsible for starting Gil over Ross?
January 4th, 2019 at 2:48 PM ^
I think that is Coach Brown, Washington works with the Vipers and SAMs. Washington is vital in getting some influence and pull towards important Ohio recruits.
January 4th, 2019 at 6:05 PM ^
We bitched about it all year, but I honestly wasn't impressed by Ross and his reads last weekend. There had to be a good reason he wasn't playing as much as we thought he should have been.
January 4th, 2019 at 2:16 PM ^
See this is what happens when you give up 50 to Maryland and purdue.
You make changes.
January 4th, 2019 at 2:33 PM ^
I wouldn't interpret this as him being shown the door. Oklahoma is, at worst, a lateral move.
January 4th, 2019 at 2:38 PM ^
Grinch is going to be the sole DC at a playoff-level program. That's a promotion for him.
January 4th, 2019 at 2:53 PM ^
Not to mention, he won't have that high of expectations. If OU has a top 40 defense next year, Oklahoma fans will build him a statue.
January 4th, 2019 at 8:19 PM ^
It's like getting a promotion where they have lower expectations and you can get away with shoddier work!
January 4th, 2019 at 3:05 PM ^
OSU made a choice to take one assistant and make him Meyer's replacement. Since it wasn't him, it's not that surprising that he is leaving. His peer just became his boss.
January 4th, 2019 at 5:48 PM ^
Does this mean Greg Schiano is leaving too? Perhaps the chance to be the sole defensive coordinator instead of co-coordinator was a bigger factor?
January 4th, 2019 at 8:43 PM ^
Does Tennessee have an opening?
January 4th, 2019 at 5:34 PM ^
So, you're saying that Oho State is not a 'playoff-level' program? That's what it sounds like you're saying, but I'm lost as to how anyone... fan, OSU hater, apathetic college football watcher, avid football follower... could not consider Ohio State an annual playoff threat. Let's see...out of five playoffs seasons, Ohio State has made the tournament twice, won a national championship the first year, got blown out the third year, and finished in the top six of the CFP rankings every year... but they're not a 'playoff-level program' in your opinion? This planet you live on... how close to the sun is it?
January 4th, 2019 at 5:52 PM ^
No, he’s saying Grinch isn’t the sole coordinator at a playoff level program. He can either be a co-coordinator at a playoff level program (OSU) or the sole coordinator at a playoff level program (OU)

Atomic Punk,
reading comprehension is not your thing.
January 4th, 2019 at 9:34 PM ^
Goes along with the choice of fandom ...
January 4th, 2019 at 3:11 PM ^
So what happens when you give up 62 to Ohio State and 41 to Florida?
January 4th, 2019 at 3:13 PM ^
A bunch of fans rationalize it. Another bunch freak out and want heads to roll. The 2 factions clash on message boards.
January 4th, 2019 at 3:25 PM ^
....and the coach does....
January 4th, 2019 at 3:31 PM ^
Ya freak the fuck out and fire one of the best d coordinators in the history of Michigan football. That should do the trick.
January 4th, 2019 at 4:23 PM ^
Hello urbansdaddy,
A review of your account proved to reveal many tirades and swearing - very little content or value could be found. I would suggest that you read the FAQ before returning to posting here. Have a great day!

Make changes? You’re putting this as OSU making the move? He’s going from a co-coordinator position at OSU to being the sole coordinator at a playoff school... which is a promotion no matter how you’re looking at it, and you’re saying OSU is making the changes....
My goodness some of you people....
January 4th, 2019 at 2:16 PM ^
Looks like his heart grew three sizes today.
January 4th, 2019 at 2:16 PM ^
Somehow they will find a way to fall upwards, like always.
Maybe Bill Belichick is looking for a change of pace.
January 4th, 2019 at 2:20 PM ^
Harbaugh would not have touched him with a 39 and a half foot pole
January 4th, 2019 at 2:20 PM ^
Nothing special. Just a new coach filling his staff with his choice of people. However, if Washington is being offered some kind of Co-DC job title... it's going to be hard to hold on to him.
January 4th, 2019 at 2:21 PM ^
Schiano will be leaving too. Day doesn't want to fire Schiano. They are hoping he finds a new job.
January 4th, 2019 at 2:23 PM ^
Interesting...
January 4th, 2019 at 2:25 PM ^
I’m sure this means that Al Washington will be filling one of their vacated spots. They will also lose Schiano and then hire someone much better. Such is life these days.
UMBIG-Any news on the Pep front? You hinted a couple of times that he was leaving. Please give us good news...
January 4th, 2019 at 2:29 PM ^
You sure are a "half empty" type fella, aren't ya?
January 4th, 2019 at 2:31 PM ^
Harbaugh is probably waiting to see who leaves so he can extend Pep with a pay raise. ?
January 4th, 2019 at 2:53 PM ^
Marc Givier thinks Schiano will stay and it will be Schiano/Washington on staff at OSU. Temple is the wild card. Don Brown and Schiano are high on their list. That doesn't mean either were offered yet. The AFCA is this weekend. Temple is trying to wrap their hire up during interviews today before the AFCA begins.
January 4th, 2019 at 4:54 PM ^
So essentially no matter what Washington is gone and the only question is whether Don Brown goes too? Fun
January 4th, 2019 at 2:55 PM ^
Pep was high on the Lions radar. Not sure where it stands today. Nothing new yet.
January 4th, 2019 at 3:21 PM ^
I would really, REALLY like Harbaugh to look at Major Applewhite for OC. Looks like he's the top target for Miami OC currently. Harbaugh needs to do something more quickly before top guys take other jobs (though I guess that didn't stop Manny Diaz).
January 4th, 2019 at 4:24 PM ^
Major Applewhite as OC here would be an interesting choice, and yes, I believe that offense would be so much more fun to watch then potentially.
January 4th, 2019 at 6:00 PM ^
Wouldn’t mind Major Applewhite or Jedd Fisch off the top of my head. The biggest thing for me will be Harbaugh taking a step back from the offense and just letting the OC do his thing.
January 4th, 2019 at 6:46 PM ^
Applewhite hired briles. Do not want, there are things bigger than winning
January 4th, 2019 at 5:59 PM ^
No. HELL No.
Major Applewhite is NOT a good OC.
This board (like all boards) tends to be hostile to anecdotes that don't confirm or validate predetermined opinions.
So I'll simply encourage you to look at the stats of Applewhite's OC tenures at Texas and at Houston.
Contrary to popular belief, Houston did not have a good offense with Herman as HC and Applewhite as OC. Check S&P+ or FEI. You'll be surprised.
January 4th, 2019 at 6:23 PM ^
I don't know if he is a good OC or not, but what I do know is that it is always more about the Jimmy's and Joe's than the X's and O's. Great players are what make great coaches. It's not the other way around. People think a new OC or DC, or HC will make all the difference. It's the players. Always has been and always will be.
January 4th, 2019 at 7:19 PM ^
"It's the players. Always has been and always will be."
So the sole reason Bo Schembechler had such miserable luck playing the PAC-10 in the Rose Bowl was because USC, UCLA, Stanford, Washington, and Arizona St. just had better players, right?
January 4th, 2019 at 2:28 PM ^
Ryan Day don’t play!!
January 4th, 2019 at 2:30 PM ^
I've guessed this would happen since Day took over. Not that Schiano is a good fit but it's hard to imagine all these experienced, older coaches working for a young guy with no experience. I'd be surprised if Wilson is still around too.
January 4th, 2019 at 2:44 PM ^
I expect Wilson to stay. He's not getting a HC gig, so he'd be leaving to take an OC job at a lesser school for less money. Maybe his pride will cause him to make that move, but I'd bet against it.
Schiano on the other hand... hard to imagine that he's not hurt and mad that Meyer didn't recommend him for the job, given his prior HC experience and longer tenure at OSU as an assistant. And he does have HC opportunities, or could even get a coordinator job in the NFL. I can definitely see him wanting out. It's also possible that Meyer made an agreement with him before he retired, some big bonus payment or something in exchange for mentoring Day for a year. (That's pure speculation on my part, I've never seen that mentioned anywhere.)
January 4th, 2019 at 2:46 PM ^
rutger may need a new HC in 2020.
