We will see, he'll have a chance. I thought Smith would be more college ready, but the clips of Hinton that I've seen this week look good. Dwumfour, Kemp, Jeter, Smith, Hinton will probably be the 5 main guys vying for a 4-man rotation in the interior. I'm hoping Jeter can take a big step and start at NT. I'd be comfortable with Dwumfour and Jeter backed up by Hinton and Smith.

“Projected position” depends on how big he can get and remain athletically viable. As a recruit he was a 6-6 250 lb SDE (Gary’s position essentially). If he can build up to 290+ and still remain athletic enough to be a contributor, a slide inside is likely. Same with Morris. If he can put on enough good weight to move inside, it’s likely that he does so.

Sometimes it’s more advantageous to get athletic DE types with big frames and put them in a college weight room and bulk them up to 290+ than it is to get a kid out of high school that’s already over 300 lbs.  It’s rare to get a DT out of high school that has enough “good weight” to be a viable option early in his career. If you can get a good frame on a 250 lb kid and spend a year putting 35-40 lbs of muscle on him, the results are probably going to be better than that 320 lb kid you get out of high school.

Carlo Kemp comes to mind as a comparison. 6-3 255 as a recruit (prior to that he was smaller and recruited by many as a linebacker). Put him in a college weight room and he’s bulked up to over 280 lbs and he’s now a viable option inside. Conversely, if a player’s max playing weight is in the 260ish range, obviously you’re going to keep him at end.

Mazi, Hinton, Dwumfour, Kemp and Jeter should allow us to be fine on the D-Line interior, just not much depth - any of the SDE's able to slide inside?

Great to see. Mazi is a lot bigger than I thought. Good to know we have 2 very good (maybe great) safeties in this class.

of course OSU lands another speedy WR that will eventually be a star, that Jameson kid reminds me of Parris Campbell

We have many great players.  Unfortunately we seem to have many weaknesses in the way we deploy them that makes them less impactful than their ability would suggest.

Trente Jones a surprise, eh??? Well...then you have not been paying attention...the kid can play. There is talent in the trenches of this class to compete well.

On 247 Mazi Smith made the top 5 for most impressive defensive players in day 2. Say he's been great both days so far. He looks like a tank

MSU signee Julian Barnett was #1 on their list for day 2

247 had Zach Charbonett on 5 star watch but he's injured
