Do they eat nachos in Mississippi?

Until we found out her famous nachos were just Rotel...

Rumors swirling that Hoke is being eyed as a replacement for Pep
December 30th, 2018 at 6:41 PM ^
Even if a joke, this would be the most Michigan thing ever...
December 30th, 2018 at 6:42 PM ^
Will there be a headset clause?
A "don't send concussed players in at QB" clause?
December 30th, 2018 at 6:54 PM ^
LOL. Too soon and NOT FUNNY!!! I can't imagine a worse idea.
December 30th, 2018 at 7:28 PM ^
I'll burn my sheepskin.

hopefully Family Man Freeze left his rolodex in a desk drawer for ol' RichRod...

Scumbag guy going to a scumbag program— I’m sure it will work out just fine
December 30th, 2018 at 6:54 PM ^
I'll be honest - I kind of lost sight of Rodriguez once he left Michigan, and I am OK with that.
I suppose this could be....interesting for the SEC.
December 30th, 2018 at 7:15 PM ^
Only way it could have come more full circle is if he had ended up at Alabama.
December 30th, 2018 at 10:00 PM ^
It won't be interesting for the SEC. Unless RR has added a bunch of wrinkles to his offense, it'll get shut down by the better teams. RR was truly an innovative offensive mind back in the early/mid 2000's when he introduced his offense to the world. However, he never really adapted or added to it. Other teams started to incorporate elements of his offense into theirs and instead of it being an offense no one had seen or tried to defend before, it became the offense that dcoordinators saw on a regular basis. Defenses started to figure out how to defend it and it was the end of RR.

I hope Casteel is coming with or he will fail
December 30th, 2018 at 7:06 PM ^
He'd probably be an ok OC.
December 30th, 2018 at 7:11 PM ^
He will light up that offense. Man is a great OC, just not that great as a HC. If only they had beat Pitt.
December 30th, 2018 at 7:14 PM ^
Our offense always looked explosive under RR in the TUOS game.
Wait a minute...
Well, they DID drop 60 on Delaware St.
December 30th, 2018 at 7:17 PM ^
He’s just not. That offense never worked in a game that mattered against a team with a remotely ok defense.
December 30th, 2018 at 7:30 PM ^

Don't insult Jim Harbaugh like that.
Oh, wait . . .
December 30th, 2018 at 7:20 PM ^
Interesting to see if he takes it and what he could do there. I’m looking at it from a football perspective and not considering his baggage.
December 30th, 2018 at 7:37 PM ^
Agree. Set aside all the bad memories from his stay here. Think about this in purely football terms. Questions that come to me include:
- How much control over offensive recruiting would he have? Would he still go for the smaller players, or would the HC overrule in favor of players more SEC-sized?
- Would we see the same offense he took to Arizona? Or as OC would he have to accomodate the HC's wishes and modify it?
- How would he handle defenses like Alabama's or LSU's? Would he find a way to be moderately successful, or would his offense get stuffed?
This all assumes the story is true.
Still, as an exercise in watching something from afar, this could be intriguing.

I care. A lot. A whole lot. Actually, I don't give a crap. But if the day ever comes that we play them in a bowl and that sumb*tch beats us, I will be livid.
December 30th, 2018 at 7:28 PM ^
'Ole Miss certainly doesn't shy away from the 'ole controversy.
December 30th, 2018 at 7:38 PM ^
shit hire him as OC here. At least he didn’t run a 1947 offense when he was the HC here.
December 30th, 2018 at 8:32 PM ^
Odd that you should pick 1947 as your reference. That was the year of the "Mad Magicians." It was literally one of the most innovative offensive teams of all time. They were undefeated and beat USC 49-0 in the Rose Bowl. Oh, and they were national champions.

December 30th, 2018 at 8:06 PM ^
Rich Rod : Offense :: Don Brown : Defense
Scheme works great against over-matched opponents, but put it up against similar or better talent and coaching, and it fails miserably.
December 30th, 2018 at 9:06 PM ^
Sort of... uh... true for most all coaches...
December 31st, 2018 at 6:51 PM ^
Delaware State notwithstanding (and they couldn't, obviously)...
Points Per Game Scored, all games, including bowls for those years with six or more wins:
Gary Moeller 33.5
Jim Harbaugh 33.0
Bo Schembechler 29.4
Brady Hoke 29.2
Lloyd Carr 28.7
Ole Miss's Apparent New OC 27.6
And defense? We won't go there. At least the Rebels know enough not to, either.
I think what he did was lightning at the right time for a mid-major. And that's about it. He's a terrible coach.
