The program is an absolute joke. Since 2004, the team has lost the last two games of the year 9 times. During these 15 years, the team has beaten OSU once and has missed going to a bowl game as often as they've won them (3 times). Harbaugh is 1-9 against top-10 teams. Two unbelievably embarrassing blowouts on national tv to end the year. Can't even beat Florida anymore.
The offense is absolutely anemic despite having the athletes needed to have a great one. Running speed guys up the middle, miserable blocking, not getting the ball to Collins, Black, and DPJ, tight ends can't block or catch, no tempo (even when they're down by multiple possessions!), awful time management, Shea hitting his (surprisingly low) ceiling, etc. Don Brown/the defense are straight-up trash when Michigan plays anyone with a pulse. Can't cover, can't get pressure, can't tackle.
What a miserable year/decade and a half.

A lot of that can be attributed to Loser Lloyd Carr. He fucked up this program then burned it to the fucking ground. Why anyone respects that piece of shit I’ll never understand.

According to Bacon's book, wasn't LLoyd one of the people that was active in trying to make things more than difficult for RR. Maybe I am remembering incorrectly.

You are remembering that correctly. But there was an equal amount of evidence to show that Carr was just as responsible for the inner turmoil that came after Rodriguez was hired.

Lloyd Carr last coached a decade ago. Anyone who blames him for present day ineptitude has lost their marbles.
Harbaugh’s offense is a fucxing disgrace. What a joke! Program going nowhere until a real OC is hired who has real authority.

My best account is a michigan legacy family. Great people. The owners father was friends with Bo and supposedly part of the elite donors, the old right guard if you may. Lloyd was a respected member of the old guard.RR was the #1 rising young HC at the time. Accomplishing that @ WVU, crushing georgia in a bowl game to top it off. As i remember my clients version is RR claimed Terrel Pryor was a silent verbal to him & WVU but would follow him to ann arbor, done deal. The home run hire of the time. He delivered with DRob can't take that away from him. I think RR would have had a great year in 2011 with DRob was a once a decade guy, just phemominal how he dominated games. Hoke's first year would have looked much different without DRob, lightning in a bottle.

Dont go crazy. Rrs offense sucked because no quarterback could survive it. Rrs defense and special teams were the worst. Whatever we are feeling is much better than it was then im afraid

Yes Lloyd did everything he could to ruin the program for r.r. Can’t stand him. But Harbaugh has had enough time to at least win the big ten. Yet we have had 50 kids transfer out. Still doesn’t have an offensive line. Embarrassing.

Yeah Carr left the cupboard bare. People wrongly blamed RR too much for specifically that aspect. (Everything else RR was blamed for seemed warranted)
Inversely people seemed to say Hoke left the cupboards bare when he didn't, and all the continuing success was all on Jim. The reality is the staff got an upgrade in assistants quality, especially on defense and continued executing and developing on defense. Love it or hate it the offense is on Jim and he had a blank canvas there. The fact that there is so much reliance on the defense this far into Jim's tenure is not a good sign, but it can be turned around at basically any time.

The problem was that the administration wasn't planning ahead for when Lloyd Carr retired. He announced, then AD Martin went on a clueless shopping trip looking for a new HC, and ended up with RR.

I've always thought if RR hired a top tier DC and gave him the keys to the defense he might still be here. Aside from the first year the offense was good. He would still be at Arizona if he didn't meddle in the defense. That and not sticking his penis in the payroll.
Then again, RR has a problem recruiting so maybe I'm full of shit.

The AD would not let RR or any coach pay the salary for an elite assistant coach , offense or defense. That is one of the BIG changes under Harbaugh. Of course, that makes the results on the field even more inexcusable .

Yeah it was the fault of the guy that retired not the guy that was being paid at the time to run the program. Lets see Bacon's source for his book was Rich Rodriguez who is the king of playing the victim card and suckers were willing to buy it then and now because they dont like Coach Carr.

Actually, the evidence was Carr signing transfer papers for 70% of the team (including Boren to go transfer to OsU) & RR lost first string and second even before having his first team meeting. I loved Carr until he pulled some shady stuff causing a lot of turmoil within the program

Was a major contributor to the division involving RichRod.

This ain't on Lloyd. This is all Harbaugh. He isn't what we all hoped for. It's ok to admit it. He's a good solid coach, but he isn't great, and it doesn't appear he ever will be. Ryan Day will kick our ass if things don't change quickly.

Also--was htere this so-called infighting once Brady Hoax was hired? That seemed to be one that brought everyone back together under one big Maize and Blue quilt. Hoax even christened it with an 11-2 record and a Sugar Bowl win. AND the last coach to beat Ohio State. I know it fell apart, but blaming Lloyd Carr NOW is really, really STUPID.
Harbaugh came in with much bravado and swagger. He has engaged other coaches in Twitter battles. He has made national headlines with his antics, and the players have been taken overseas. Harbaugh seems to have been trying to attract all the attention and now that he's got it--his apologists all still want to whine and complain about Rodriguez, Hoax, Bagmen, the weather, and everything else they can.
Michigan has been nothing but what all the others have thought they were and have been for 70 years (save 1997): Nothing to fear, over rated, mediocre, and the home of a delusional, whiny fan base that wants to blame everything but the root cause: Michigan.

Um, athletes? Bush and Gary aren't even on the team anymore. Winovich is a dude but he is injured. Is anyone elsee considered an "athlete". O-line mixed. We weren't even close to having an advantage in the trenches. No stud running back to make use of the middle of the line and Florida was coached to expect it. So . . . you want to blame this on coaching?
Maybe play calling could have been better. I would love to see Harbaugh engineer a comeback (Northwestern?) in the fourth quarter some day and maybe in a big game. Mullen is good. Michigan was relatively healthy when Wisconsin, MSU, and PSU were not and then Michigan was unhealthy with OSU and Florida were recovering. Why was Shea Patterson just standing there as the play clock expired? I wish Harbaugh would speed up play.

Yea, I want to blame coaching when they don't have a RB to run up the middle and the other team is coaching against it, yet the offense keeps running that play over and over again as if they were going to get a different result *this* time.

Great coaches get the most out of the players they have. The players overachieve relative to their talent and the teams get upset wins against opponents with superior athletes.
Harbaugh stubbornly runs his antique offence, and when playing against similar talent his teams choke in tight games or get blown out.

Incredibly demoralizing that we've never seen this team have much fight under Harbaugh. Once you get up two scores on them, it's like they automatically flip-on an off switch and just give-up.
When it comes to adversity, good teams crumble. Great teams persevere. We need to be a great team, and I think it, somewhat, starts with Harbaugh himself. We need his sideline fire back. I want to hear Day or D'Antonio have a "what's your deal" exchange with him after a game. Not this stoic, meaningless press conferences, Woody Johnson-glasses shit, I'm sorry to say.

The team having zero semblance of a "hurry up", or two minute offense has been the most consistently disappointing thing in my mind. I mean, you have been in football your entire life, how do you not have a two minute, or even four minute offense that actually functions? It's mystifying to me. That, combined with the unrelenting stubbornness of Harbaugh, are super frustrating. We could be so much more.
Now, I recognize your point about being severely diminished for this game, and I mostly agree with it. That makes me super bitter toward the guys who chose to sit. Bush I guess I can understand, maybe, but we don't really know his situation either. Just what has been reported.

The offensive issues aren't all on Pep. Its Harbaugh's offense and always has been. But....I also can't tell exactly what Pep brings to the table, and he certainly isn't worth being the highest paid OC in the country. So there doesn't seem to be any good reason to keep him around.
That said, I'm also not so sure Harbaugh wants a new OC with differing opinions from his own.

Pep isnt the OC. What part of this don't you guys understand. Michigan doesn't have an OC. Peps title is Assistant Head Coach/QB coach and Pass Game Coordinator. But just because he coordinates the pass game doesn't mean he calls the plays. Jim has repeatedly stated he has final say on play calls.
But you are right, Jim doesn't want someone who will have a differing opinion which is why we are in this situation.

why an absolute joke? M is not a joke it is what it is. it is only ridiculous expectations vis a vis reality that color the perception of M as a joke. Consider:
M is what it is; a top 20 football program without a good recruiting base. a program with a solid, but not innovative or inspiring coach. a program that is top 20 because it has great resources and some cache, but not enough of the other elements necessary to consistently be top 10 (at the end of the year) and almost never top 5.
Again, M is what it is. i think a lot of M's expectations go back to Bo. i've been around for 60 years. Bo wasn't the Bo of M legend. and consequently M isn't the historical program that some suggest. Bo was an almost great coach and a very inspirational man. Bo was a winner, but Bo wasn't Bud Wilkinson, Bear Bryant, John McKay, Urban Meyers or Nick Saban. And M isn't Bama or USC or OSU. Very good, but not elite in football. No joke.
