Matt and Seth - Being a Basketball School has Cured Some Sads - Episode 4

Submitted by bigdemo on December 22nd, 2018 at 10:13 AM

MGoFriends: I am recovering from a pretty late night of holiday merriment but wanted to share this. A little longer than previous episodes but we took a month off to grieve.

We may occasionally email out offers for tickets I can't use and may do some free events, so join the list if you like (link).

Enjoy and Happy Holidays to you and yours.

- Matt

I guess everyone is fine with the football team ending the season with two shitty losses, nice our NY6 bowl doesn’t matter.

So stupid.

Higdon is butt hurt about something. That’s his problem and I couldn’t give a fuck less.

10-3 with a loss to Florida is very different  than 11-2 with a statement win in a ny6 to end the season.

But a couple “influential” people have decided the bowl doesn’t matter and now nobody will shut up about it.

Thanks for these Bigdemo and Seth, love the Future Blue peeking at daddy’s screen. Matt —-a big thank you and happy holidays for all the free beers and B-ball tickets I received from you. Stop by Sec 104 at a game and I’ll give you a proper in person thanks (say “Hey Carl” at row 20).

I'm glad we're both a football and basketball school.  It is annoying when people start talking like we're not both... unless it's to remind us that up until a few years ago, it had been a while since we were consistently competitive in men's b-ball... can't we all just get along - it's Christmas after all!

Stop trying to tell me which sport to care about more. I'm likely missing today's Air Force game to help my fiancee with wedding stuff. However, I refuse to have our wedding in the fall because football. Basketball is a way to pass the time until it's warm enough to golf on the weekends. Fight me.

Next time I see any Michigan football player turn to the fans and start waving their arms encouraging me to stand up and yell harder, I will say “No thanks, I might get injured or lose my voice and I have some important things that I still want to do in my life.”

Players sitting out does rankle a bit, doesn't it? However understandable from the point of view of their future prospects, it goes against Bo's emphasis on The Team, which we as fans, alums, and supporters have bought into. Mind you, our careers are not at risk from an injury, so we can afford to be self-righteous.

Those players struggling to recover from injuries, like Gary, deserve our unreserved gratitude, and there may be more of them than we realize since the coach does not give out much information on that subject, understandably enough. But lacking that explanation, it is difficult not to feel a little disappointed.

Doubtless we'll get over it, especially if their replacements impress.

And we win the bowl game, of course.

Go Blue!
