A Sacrifice to the Football Gods, End the BPONE

Submitted by BILG on December 18th, 2018 at 11:47 AM

I am in perpetual hell like the rest of you in regards to UM football.  Brian's BPONE summed it up best, and his follow up of "This is Hell" is pretty much how I've felt about UM football for most of the past 20 years.  I took the 90's for granted ( was in school from 97-01), and something is just off with our juju.  I'm not superstitious, but something needs to be done to alter this course - space time continuum audible!

The transfer of Solomon, seeming loss of a recruits Hill and what looks like Harrison to OSU has me bummed once again this offseason, not to mention that game of which I'd rather never speak of again.

I suggest we revert to the ancient and tribal ritual of a sacrifice.  As a non-player, recruiter, or having anything to do with the program, I have no influence over the program.  However, in an attempt to sway the football gods, I will, during this holiday season, "sacrifice" one of my most treasured items.  I will be giving away a signed Charles Woodson Green Bay Packers jersey to a local charity in Chicago.

While we maybe can't compete with the "sacrifices" made by SEC Bagmen for various reasons, this is the best I can come up with. It can be like our own Festivus tradition!

Let me know if you guys are in and what you would be sacrificing (no first borns please) in order to get UM football to the elite level we desire.

I’ll raise you an Irish liver for research. The kind of liver that drives to its corporate office in Saint Louis when his company would fly it.  For the sole purpose of hauling back mass quantities of cheaper booze to Ohio. Yep, that kind of liver.

I know it has been a long time since we won a championship, and that stings. OTOH, we have a top 10 team and a top 10 recruiting class. I would argue that we have a top-five coaching staff. We also have a top one winning tradition looking at all time. We have a top five brand and a top five public institution.  I understand why you want to change the course further, but the program trajectory looks pretty good.

However, I appreciate your ingenuity and willingness to take one for the team!

100% with Indy Pete on this - 3 out of 4 seasons with 10 wins and things continue to look up.  OSU wins will come... I still remember taunting OSU fans in the late 90s (97 maybe?) with "1-10-1".... it's just more of an uphill battle for programs doing it the right way (UM) vs selling your sole to the devil (OSU - SEC et al)

When I kicked my ex out, i found a bag full of osu crap that she had been picking up off clearance racks for the kids (she and her kids are from cbus).  there are a bunch of t shirts, flip flops, etc.... I will burn the bag this weekend.  how's that?

I thought the ultimate sacrifice would be for Brian to UFR The Game to forever expunge the bad juju.  I can understand why he doesn't want to, but I think that could be the ultimate streak breaker.

I sacrificed my totem of unrealistic expectations after the Florida State game ..........in '91.

I'm just glad they're back to a top 12 program and are trending into the top10, with four slots a year i'm confident they'll get some shots at a "special season".

I have a hand-signed, unopened bottle of Charles Woodson 2010 TwentyFour Cabernet Sauvignon. It's valued at $198 on ebay. If it appeases whatever gods despise Michigan, I'm all for making the sacrifice.
