DJ Wilson plays well against Pistons in 2nd game this season
Steering the board towards a more positive topic: basketball!
I didn't see him play, but DJ Wilson had a great stat line, and perhaps more importantly, played 26 minutes in a close win over the Pistons tonight.
Scored 9 points on only 5 shots (3/4 from two and 1/1 from three). Added 3 rebs, 3 assists (!) and a block for good measure.
It was only his second game for the Bucks this season, but looks like he's working his way into the rotation on a very good team. Really good to see him playing well (he was also very efficient in his first game).

Good enough to be drafted but not good enough to make All Big Ten 3rd team. If that isnt the most Beilein of players right there I dont know what is.
So glad to see him doing well. Maybe someday these execs will see the track record and let our players season an extra year.

WAAATTTT? Beilein finds diamonds in the rough and polishes them. It is just as likely for Beilein players to get all B1G votes and not get drafted (Harris, Walton JR, MAAR (honorable mention)), while guys like Sims, Morris, Hardaway, Levert and Stauskas got the selection and drafted.
The only times where Beilein player did not get selected in All B1G teams and drafted was Robinson and Wilson.

Yeah dude, he meant it as a compliment. As in, Beilein seems what those type of players have better than the other college coaches...

Not sure how saying that having an NBA talent who did not perform well on the court to merit an All B1G selection is a compliment...

You are all overthinking it. Just that Beilein is the only coach in the world that could lose a sophomore to the NBA that wasn’t in the top 15 in his conference. An absolute compliment but also “NBA over reaches” for our players.

I can see how this is meant as a compliment but I would argue against the assertion that he's the most Beilein of players. It's almost exactly the opposite of most Beilein players.
A lot of Beilein players overachieve dramatically and are very productive (in the offensive categories that get media votes) at Michigan thanks to Beilein and are usually recognized for it: Trey Burke as the Naismith POY, Nik Stauskas as the B1G POY, etc.
DJ Wilson arguably underachieved/was under-used and then was drafted almost entirely on potential because he's a long, bouncy, elite athlete and good defender. That very much is not a Beilein-type player. GR3 and to a lesser extent, Darius Morris are the only other Beilein guys fit that mold.
Burke, Stauskas, Wagner, all were drafted because of a high level of skill, despite physical limitations.
The common theme amongst all of them is that they were under-appreciated/undervalued in high school (but not in college).

I worried about his defense in the NBA, but he looked good on that side too last night. A little too jumpy, but held up well

He's done alright in the G-League as well this year when he was assigned there.
Per basketball reference:
6 games, 13.7 PPG, 5.0 RPG, 53.3% FG, 46.4% 3PT
He was always going to be a guy that needed time to develop before seeing significant NBA minutes. Seems to be progressing ok. But he'll need to make that jump in the next season or two if he wants to stick long-term.

I always figured he'd have some issues getting into an NBA rotation as his game evolved, but you can see why teams would like him. He's tall and athletic and has NBA range, so it's nice to see him get some run.

Glad to see him cracking the lineup. He's the quintessential modern day NBA forward - long, athletic, and versatile.
Revisionist history: can you imagine the versatility of last year's front court if Wilson had stayed one more year?

Moe Wagner had a nice game Sunday night for the Lakers loss to the Wizards. 12pts in 17 minutes on 5 of 7 shooting and +11 in that time!
