MBB tickets selling out fast

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on December 17th, 2018 at 4:53 PM

Ticket office just announced today that the next 3 games are sold out.

Unless you wanna get dinged by stubhub fees, get 'em while you still can.

The highly ranked recruits are the mostly freshmen still sitting on the bench, so no. Teske and Simpson weren't great recruits. Nor was Rahk, Robinson, Wagner.

People here just overreact to everything. I guess that's fandom but it makes this place unbearable sometimes. When Harbaugh got here everyone was talking about how Urban would be running scared and I thought "Uh well he's probably the 2nd most successful cfb coach in the last 20 years or so, so probably not." People hated Pep even though they really don't know how much succes or blame to attribute to him (although he does seem ridiculously overpaid considering it's Harbaugh's offense), and then they loved him because he seemed calm in the Amazon documentary, and now people hate him again. Now everyone is freaking out about the offense next year, but I've been saying it'll be much improved simply due to returning starters with more experience. Barring some big unexpected losses (please don't go Tarik), I'd bet money they'll be an S&P+ top 10 offense next year.

Same for Beilein. He's a great coach and he always was, but then there were a couple years where Michigan was just decent due to some injury problems and I had to stop going to the board here. Yes, Beilein was smart to hire a DC, but part of that is also the roster make-up. With guys like Simpson and Matthews leading the team, this needs to be a D first team.

John Beilein openly admitted that he literally did not/does not pay attention to defense.  Not surprisingly he always had underachieving or poor defenses (the Zack Novak era being the only relative exception in his career).  He was brilliant to hire a DC and it made a world of difference - moreso than roster makeup.

Last year Yaklich had the 3rd best defense in college basketball with MAAR, Duncan Robinson and Moe Wagner playing the majority of the teams defense.  That is nothing short of a miracle even with Z and Matthews.

In 2013, with NBA players up and down the roster and a lot good, long athletes (Hardaway, GR3, McGary), Michigan's defense was just mediocre: 7th in the conference. That's embarrassing considering the talent.  Hooboy if Yaklich coached that team.

I don't think it was a miracle having a good D with those players along with Simpsons and Matthews and Teske playing significant minutes. Robinson isn't athletic but he's big for his position. Not surprisingly, he was fine when staying near the post. What makes you think it was so hard to make Rahk a good defender? Wagner still wasn't great at defense, but he's also a skilled player. Those guys weren't scrubs.

Yes, Beilein really underachieved in 2013 and the defense is to blame. Nevermind they had one of the best offenses ever in the Kenpom era and almost won a freaking national championship. Really an embarrassing season. The D has gotten better but the offense has gotten worse. Would this team beat the Burke et al team in a 7 game series? That's highly debatable. Again, Beilein was just as good then. He's just doing it differently now.

Based on results, yes. Absolutely. Based on attendance, eh not so much. Fortunately the masses are coming around and starting to make the building loud.

I got 4 tickets for the IU game back when they came on sale and now that the Hoosiers look like they're going to be ranked in the 15-20 range, they're going for well over $100 each in the same section.  I'll likely unload 2 and make a nice profit.

I got burned by this. Was going to take the kids to the Penn St game via the family pack ($20 ticket including hot dog and drink), and when I was finally ready to confirm a few days later I was shocked to find only singles available.

Now if you could only pry the tickets from the hands of the dead lower-bowl season ticket holders who never show up or sit silently when they do, WD,...

There are people like that in the upper bowl too. Two seats next to us have been vacant all year and belong to these two old goofs who have two other seats and they show up to only the big games and then leave with 5 minutes left.

Ha --- this reminds me of a story, my freshman year at PSU I was back for spring break and my neighbor, an upper-deck season ticket holder, gave his PSU @ Michigan 2 hoops tickets to my Dad and I.

Neighbor: "One thing: if you start cheering for Penn State, these 2 old goofs in front of you are going to get angry and glare at you."

Me: "OK, I'll keep quiet."

Neighbor: "Yeah, but if you start cheering for Michigan, those old goofs in front of you will ALSO get angry and glare at you.  Everyone up there hates those guys."

(this was the game where Jason Bossard had a career-high number of points and Dan Patrick immortalized him on SportsCenter: "Jason Bossard, you can't stop him, you can only hope to contain him.")

No. If this season turns out how we hope (now expect), it will be a very good three years.

But the best would be 1989 through 1994 (1 natl champ; 3 final fours; 4 elite eights)

If you don't count those b/c of Fab Five stuff, then it is 1964 through 1966 (3 B1G champs, 2 final fours).

Michigan has some history; don't discount it.

That's a good news, bad news scenario. Good news for the program, bad news for me. I haven't made a game since the first round tournament game against Ok St in 2017. I do stubhub, though, so if I just have to see a game before the Big Ten Tournament, I'll pay that *tax*. Sure that I'm hitting up Chi-town for the Tourney, though.

Kind of surprised the Binghamton game is sold out.  Even with how good the team has been playing.

It's also the day before New Year's Eve.  Really didn't expect too many people to show up to that one.
