I think it has been all about speed for a long time now. To me, the end of the big lumbering linebacker came in the late 80s or early 90s. One game in particular was significant in this regard for Michigan -- or at least it seems like it was to me because I was there. It was when Michigan played Florida State I think in 1990 or 91. I know it was a much hyped game since both teams were highly ranked. Michigan had a bunch of huge slow linebackers with neck rolls -- Erick Anderson and Steve Morrison -- good Big 10 linebackers but not super fast -- and Florida State had Amp Lee on offense and Terrell Buckley on defense. We were so slow in space that it was laughable. That's when the whole "speed kills" phrase got started I think. Anyway they scored like 50 points on Michigan's defense, which was thought to be great before that game. I know we were undefeated in the Big 10 that year and beat OSU and all that, but it revealed in striking ways a terrible disparity between the Big 10 and the "fast" teams from down south.

He's a slight big taller and about 20 lbs lighter than Bush at the same age.  He will need a year or two to put on mass before he can be inserted into Bush's spot.

I like McGrone and Ross as the LBs with Anthony and Gill as the backups in 2019... Uche will be the SAM when in a true 4-3 alignment.

The only thing cooler than him committing would've been if he would've said "Devin Bush said he will take me under his wing next year"

FWIW, I think this is how the class finishes out:

-Anthony Solomon

-Cornelius Johnson

-Late 3 Star Safety or TE

All the optimism around Harrison and Hill will evaporate right before they sign with OSU and Alabama, respectively.

No shame in the way this class wrapped up. Lots of high end potential and high ceiling 3 stars to build off of.

I love how everyone thinks every 3 star has a high ceiling. You can count on one hand the number of 3 stars Harbaugh has developed into all B1G players (Higdon, Runyan, Hudson). 3 stars don't beat OSU and get you into the CFP.

I personally think the class will close better than you think.
