Quinten Johnson signing early with Michigan

There was rumor last week that Quinten Johnson may be interested in Maryland due to the terps hiring Mike Locksley who recruited him at Bama. Well Johnson tweeted today that he is signing on Early signing day with Michigan.

Good that he cleared that up. Also MaizenBrew has a nice list of early enrollees: Link

There's no requirement to sign an LOI. Schools want recruits to sign so they're locked in. A few have waited even though they didn't enroll early. Some recruitments even take place well past signing day. There was a 2018 RB Michigan was looking at in July. He ended up at UCLA. If they don't sign, they aren't locked in until they attend a class.

Think about in years past how people enrolled early but signing day hadn't occurred yet. If Classes started January 8th, but signing day was early February, then they enrolled early but hadn't technically signed a LOI because it wasn't allowed yet. Signing a LOI also doesn't really mean anything except locking you in, and if you have enrolled early and are playing for the team then you are locked in anyway at that school.

FWIW, in more recruiting “news” our own TomVH was asked this morning on ESPNU radio which team will surprise on the positive side next week. He picked Michigan. Lots of the recruiting types (Isaiah Hole, Sam, and now TVH) seem to think we are going to land a big target or two next week.

Very much looking forward to Cade McNamara!! Signing early, and enrolling early.

What a great quick release he has. And great accuracy on the run.

He loves the role of being the leader.

Does anyone have a list of which commits are expected to sign Wednesday and which are waiting until February? I know Steve Lorenz posted one a couple of weeks ago on 247, but that might be a little outdated now.
