He hasn’t played one meaningful down in college, and if he has any chance of playing anywhere next year, assuming he’s not convicted, he’s almost certainly going to have to go the JC / FCS route. Maybe the MAC if he gets lucky. From there, his odds of making it to the league become even smaller than they already are.

I know what you’re trying to say, but guys like Joe Mixon, they at least had results to make teams consider them as an option. O’Maury has a whole lot of nothing next to his name right now in terms of on field results.

This is all assuming he’s not convicted. If he is, and depending on the severity of the situation, he might have to forget about playing competitive football anywhere for the rest of his life.

Outside of Charbonnet RB recruiting has been a borderline disaster.

Kingston Davis: Gone

Kareem Walker: Gone

OMaury Samuels: Gone

Kurt Taylor: Gone

Hassan Haskins: moved to Viper

Michael Barrett: Moved to viper, then to WR

Christian Turner: showed some promise but too early to tell

Meanwhile Najee Harris is 3rd string at Bama. Insane.

Just read the "Recruiting Wrap".  Seems like whomever is / has been responsible for RB recruiting isn't getting the job done.  Other than Zach, our RB recruits have looked like what a mid level college program would have.

Furthermore, the staff had to know for months that Eric Gray was going to decommit.  How in the world is the back up plan for Eric Gray a Rutger's commit?  Man, looks like poor execution in a contingency plan.

Seriously. You just can’t wait for a chance to dump on recruiting. It’s ridiculous. Attrition always happens, and most of us pegged him as someone who wouldn’t be back. This is not a shock.

Higdon and Evans have been good. Turner will likely be good. Charbonett will be a stud. Chill out on the constant negative narrative Maizen.

TK, I agree with you and your comments. Plus, JH needs to open up the passing game with all of our talented receivers we have and not being utilized to their maximum potential. We can still run for 150 or more yds per game but need to pass for a min of 250 yds.

Seriously. Are people forgetting how badly we got blown off the filed against OSU? God forbid we would have had to play Bama, would have been a bloodbath. We need more talent. Everywhere.

The standard is Tony Boles, Tyrone Wheatley, Tim Biakabutuka, Anthony Thomas, Chris Perry, and Mike Hart. That's the type of runner you need in this offense. I think Charbonnet is going to be that guy. He is a stud. But let's stop pretending RB recruiting the last few years has been good. It's been objectively bad.

Everyone saw the maryland back destroy osu. Higdon just doesn't have the speed to get to the 2nd level against a team like osu. Some teams just have a hard time recruiting certain positions. Osu couldn't close on the top DL or QB's till Meyer and Larry Johnson showed up.

Exactly.  How would it have been even mathematically possible for even half of those players to pan out?  I'm not disputing that RB could be better, but some of those guys were not expected to start at RB, and some were candidates for a position switch from the moment they stepped on campus.  You can't have two starting RBs, with two new starters every single year.

They weren't expected to start or make contributions because their recruiting profiles were, wait for it, right.

Meanwhile teams like UGA have Gurley, Chubb, and Michel all on the team at the same time and people wonder why Michigan has gotten it's ass kicked by OSU for the last two decades.

Is the goal to go 10-3 every year or are we actually trying to win the CFP?

Samuels was a 4 star and Walker was a top 50 recruit that chose us over OSU. It’s crazy that according to you, recruiting rankings are always right....until they aren’t, and then you ignore them and make up an excuse as to why they were wrong. You did the same thing with our basketball recruits right before Beilein took a team with zero recruiting classes better than 30th nationally to the national championship. Are you excited to be super wrong about football this time?

You know, when you were Maizen. Of course you know that though. And all the rest of the board knew as soon as you were wrong about basketball, you would just start on the football team under a different name. You do the exact same thing so it isn’t tough to figure out.

Also, Walker was top 50 to ESPN but only ranked 107 and the 4th best RB nationally to 247. What a scrub. Recruiting rankings were totally right about how horrible he would be

The actual reason 'Reem flipped was because he wanted to come on his visit here but Urban was a dick about it and told him he couldn't. I'm forgetting if he threatened him in some fashion, like we'll drop you if you go, or what exactly he said in somehow forbidding it. I do remember that Kareem was very offended by it in his telling me the story in great detail.

So Urban trying to forbid the visit combined with how he loved the visit he defiantly made, along with that Zeke, whom he called his brother, and was a big part of him picking OSU in the first place, decided to go pro. No reason to sit on that anymore I guess.

Comments like yours make some things hard to read on this board. But I say that because you're right. It hurts that my team is at this level. Reality bites sometimes. I hope Jim Harbuagh continues to find ways to make the tram rise higher like he did last off season hiring Ed Warinner and Jim McElwain. I'm hoping there's some more good coaching moves he can make.

I don't know if people know it but the last 5 Star RB Ohio St had was something like 18 years ago. Teams don't always need 5 stars. But I wish Michigan could start getting some. Michigan got Walker away from Ohio St who was a 5 Star at one rating agency, a 4 star with all others. But look where he is. Michigan will have to get a better RB next year than Tru Wilson to carry the load--and I love Tru Wilson. I hope it is Christian Turner. Maybe Chris Evans will blossom. I just want to see more offense. Thank God Michigan has Ed Warinner!

I can't see why Michigan can't get the better RBs. I hate to say this, but maybe Jay Harbaugh isn't elite enough to impress them. On the other hand, it doesn't get any more elite than Ed Warinner. Just listening to him talk makes you want to run through a wall for the team, and have fun doing it. I don't know if I've ever heard a coach more confident at talking about his game.
