The Hills are a smart family.  I wouldn't be surprised if he flips back.

Hell there's a good chance Saban will be dead by the time Hill graduates.  Guy is geriatric and he can't hide it anymore.  Plus he has only been a good coach when he has overwhelming talent.  Looks at his failures in the NFL and at MSU.

Everyone now days is saying that Saban and Meyer are two of the best coaches of all time in college football. Are they really now? Have they ever really done more with less? Yeah Urban did well at Florida but was the SEC anything back then? Fuck no it wasn't. Look at the talent he had and could get down there. All those southern folks think about is football and their cousin of the opposite or sometimes same sex. I mean come on here. Saban and Meyer have been getting the top kids in the country and had top recruiting classes for how many fucking years? Don't tell me they are great coaches. They are the greatest recruiters of their era though. I'll give them that.

As far as Meyer, he did well at Utah, 10-2 first season, 12-0 second.  Utah didn't play the most demanding schedule during that time, but he pretty much won with someone else's players.

I'd give the edge to Meyer; ultimately you have to have the players to win combined with good coaching.  Saban couldn't consistently get enough good players to MSU.  Dantonio couldn't either, even when M was down.

Harbaugh is going to have to figure out how to get it done with Top 10 classes.  We might have to accept 10-win seasons as good enough.

Was it that, or was it the 'Harbaugh to the NFL' rumors that always crop up near signing day?  Every damn year it's the same thing.

The sad irony is the fact that Saban bombed in the NFL insulates him from those kinds of rumors.  Harbaugh coached in the Superbowl and had NFL success, therefore everyone believes it's inevitable he will go back, cuz NFL.

Agreed, I don't know why anyone would be surprised. Hill was gone the moment we got embarrassed in Columbus. They might've flipped him anyway, unless we did well in the playoff. If Alabama wants our 4 or 5 star commits, we're in trouble. Period. Let's see, I could go to Alabama and go to the National Championship game every year, or go to a school that never even plays in their Conference Championship game. Real tough choice.

I get it. Can’t fault a kid for picking Bama. That said at some point I would have thought their sustained level of recruiting would backfire. When you have a roster full of 5 stars at every position three and four deep, don’t some of those kids want to go somewhere they can play all three years? Yeah championships and all that but it seems like every kid we lose to Bama has 1.5 years of actual playing time and moves on. Would think we’d get a couple kids a year who just look at the roster there and say fuck it I’ll go play three years and start from day one? I dunno. I’m just not 18 and getting recruited by Bama so I have no idea what it’s like. Sucks. Dax woulda been a great player for us. Good luck to the kid. Hope we at least knew this was coming and had a plan. Something tells me we did not.

I wonder the same thing.  We have guys playing playing second and third string that were highly recruited out of high school, maybe top 300 types, that choose to go elsewhere when they know they won't see the field.  Alabama has the same guys, probably higher ranked overall, that sit and rot on the bench for 4 and 5 years, yet stay.  I guess winning is infectious and alters your state of mind.

Yeah, I've been wondering the same thing this season after Hudson announced his transfer, meanwhile Hurt is celebrated for sticking around when he could have bolted and started somewhere else.

I wonder what these Bama kids are being told that keep them in place.  Ultimately, most P5 teams offer the kind of coaching and exposure that will prepare a player for the NFL if they have the ability to get there.
