Afternoon game thread

Submitted by mi93 on December 8th, 2018 at 2:42 PM

Not sure if a thread for the afternoon of games is worthwhile, but I'm bored.

Kentucky - Seton Hall was an incredibly entertaining game.  Myles Powell of SH lit it up from everywhere in the 2H.

Indiana - Louisville up next.  And others.

Other than Poole, seeing any great performances elsewhere today?

Don't want to promote the opponents - but Chris Silva was great for South Carolina today.  18 points, 12 boards, and kept South Carolina in it with his energy.

Seton Hall's Myles Powell had 28 today, with some money shots to help beat Kentucky.  What a game that was!

You need to take road losses at Wyoming with a grain of salt.  Wyoming isn't great, but they have a massive home-court advantage due to the elevation.  (Laramie is at 7100').

I'm not saying South Carolina is good -- they're not -- and it doesn't explain Michigan's defensive inefficiency, but that's not the result I'd use to judge the Gamecocks.

Nova's playing St. Joes in a Big 5 game right now, up 10 right before the half.

Xavier is down 6 at the half @Cinci in their rivalry game.

Illinois up 5 on UNLV and PSU up 11 on Colgate at the half.

NW beat DePaul earlier today at home helped by a 25-0 run in the second half to erase a 19 point deficit.

MSU escaped a mediocre Florida team 63-59 at Florida earlier.

I think the whiny assholes who were on the Michigan-South Carolina thread should go check out that Sparty boxscore.

"To see a candle's light, one must take it into a dark place. This is the same as to see the good and be grateful, one must compare and contrast it with something worse - not better!"  Ursula Le Guin

Do we really have to wait for Feb 24th?  Bring on Sparty!!!

Both of those metrics still have heavy preseason influences. If you look at Florida's resume they're 5-4 and their best wins are a neutral court against a bad Stanford team or a mediocre WVU team. They're not a good team.

For those of you are watching the Army-Navy pregame, anyone else have someone start cutting onions near you?

God bless these kids.

I haven't watched Army this year at all and have assumed they were still true flexbone. But I haven't seen a traditional flexbone set from them in the first two drives. Is this a wrinkle for this game or is the offense they've been running much of the year?

Go Hoosiers.  Hang on and take down Louisville.

Watching Louisville beat Sparty was kind of fun - have to admit it, the BIG-ACC Challenge not withstanding.  But time for the BIG to show some - in the words of Wooderson - "fucking muscle"!

EDIT:  They did.  Hoosiers win 68-67.  Nice win for a mid-tier BIG over a mid-tier ACC.  And you know - Fuck Louisville, their cheating asses, their redneck fans and their shitty academics too!

The BIG is going to be tough this year!

Jayru Campbell sighting in the D2 semifinals for Ferris State on ESPN3. Good for him, for turning things around. After his issues as an MSU commit I guess he won a JUCO NC and now he could win a D2, as well. Did not know that.

Wisconsin outshooting Marquette 54%-36% (Happ 6-8), out-rebounding Marquette - and only lead at half 33-32.

Only Wisconsin can take the "air out of their own balls".

Our whiny fans should pay attention, quit bitching about a double digit win over an SEC team, and thank the basketball gods for Beilein and this team...

Any chance Army will be ranked coming into AA next year?  Will Don Brown address the crossing routes that Army will throw at him?
