Peach Bowl ticket question

Submitted by Marvin on December 6th, 2018 at 4:26 PM

Going to the game with my son and was looking at two options for tickets: mgoblue and stubhub. If you buy through the University site it looks like tickets are $160 each and you don't even see where your seats are (other than the southwest corner). Based on the chart that's linked to the site it seems like they could be anywhere -- from really good to nosebleed. So my question: has anyone else gone through the mgoblue site? Am I correct in assuming that the seats you get are simply assigned based on when you've ordered, how many have been sold etc? Seems like a weird way to do it.

I just looked at stubhub and it seems like a better option. I like knowing where I'm going to sit, and the prices are compatible with the mgoblue site.

I did the same thing - went through the Michigan sponsored site and saw that I didn't get to select my seats.

I then went on Stubhub and found good (enough) seats for $161.  I sat in the same section for the Peach Bowl last year (with free tickets).  After they add $42 per ticket for "handling", I backed out of the Stubhub purchase.

I'm checking with my friends at Chick-fil-A (eat more chicken!) to see if I can again snag two tickets to this years Peach Bowl.

StubHub has better seats.

I’ve been watching them and the number has dropped slightly. I’m buying them too. If any Mgblogger has a pair to sell, I’m buying.

Never buy bowl tickets from the university.  Will always find a better deal on the secondary markets.*  Also, wait closer to gameday.

* I have no idea how this would apply to Rose Bowl or CFP :(

It’s hard to do because you really want to go to the game,  but if you are local and can wait for the day of the game then you can get tickets dirt cheap.  Ive done this a few times the day of bowl games. I doubt this game will sellout so prices should drop too.

Sam was saying the game was sold out, because everyone that buys a ticket for this game is guaranteed the option to buy a ticket for next year's Peach Bowl (or something to that effect).  Next year it is a CFP game, so supposedly it is "sold out."  I would expect much better deals on the secondary market than the Michigan channels.

I am waiting. They haven't sold out on MGoBlue yet. They haven't sold out on the Gator's side either. (FWIW, their tickets are $150 and you can choose the seats.)

That tells me lower demand (both fan bases tired of the match up / no beaches to go to).

StubHub the day before should be better prices.

I purchased tickets to the Citrus and Outback from the secondary market, better seats at a better price.

Bought Orange Bowl tickets from the University was in nose bleeds/terrible seats.

For almost any bowl game, unless it is really important to you to sit in a section of Michigan fans, you will be better off buying elsewhere. If it's true that they've sold a bunch of tickets to this year's Peach Bowl essentially as a "seat donation" to get access to it next year as a playoff game, then there will be a ton of secondary market tickets at pretty reasonable prices.

Different scenario but when UM played Florida in the Elite 8, I paid $8 for basically two courtside seats.  I paid more,$10, to park.   It was great.  All the Kansas fans dumped their tickets.  Heck some tickets went for $1.  No way that happens with the Peach Bowl but you should find decent seats for a good price.

Local Atlanta alumni here. There is NO buzz for this game whatsoever in Atlanta. I will echo what others have said and suggest the wait and see approach. Use the secondary markets or get them on the street before the game. It's deceiving though because there are a lot of tickets already sold (allotted) due to this CFP bonus next year. Unsurprisingly, the SEC locals are looking to unload them. There are corporate (Coke, UPS, Ga Power, Home Depot etc.) tickets floating around as well that people won't want to use to see this game. Prices have already dropped 10-20% online since announcement of game.

Just some FYI to throw out there:

- Mercedes-Benz stadium holds around 71,000 people for an event like this.

- The event "sold out" last year when UCF defeated Auburn 34-27. Auburn is a 90 minute drive from Atlanta. Your typical Georgia, Alabama, Auburn fans travel very well for a game like this. I don't anticipate the same from 9-3 Florida.

- The Michigan lower bowl sideline is "Home or Atlanta Falcons" side because they are the higher ranked team. This includes sections 101-119 / 201-224 / 301-326. This means you want to enter through gates 3 or 4 at the stadium.

- Last years bowl game in Tampa (vs. South Carolina) drew a crowd of 45,000 for a stadium that seats 65,000. Not saying that will happen this year but tickets will NOT be hard to find.

- Atlanta is a great town if you haven't been down. Its a bit of a drive from SE Michigan but there's plenty to do for a family or dudes trip. Awesome breweries to tour as well.

- Alcohol sales will be permitted in stadium because I attended a CFP game hosted before and they served.

Hotels for a family of five are hard to find near the city center. Can find rooms in Buckhead, Midtown and further north. Any idea how long it would take to drive in from north of Buckhead? Any suggestions regarding directions from MB Stadium that might be easier coming in for game? We are driving down and making a couple weeks of it. Only in Atlanta for a couple days.

I live in northern suburbs.  Traffic is awful here but luckily should not be a problem Saturday morning before the game.  From Buckhead would be 20-30 minutes including parking.  Even from Sandy Springs would only be around 30.  I haven't been to the new stadium yet so don't have any insider tips on directions.  It's only a mile or so off the highway though.

Yikes. I ordered through athletic dept as a season ticket holder and am told I’m paying 310 each!  That better come with free beer.

Staying at the Clarion.
