Urban Meyer stepping down from OSU
December 4th, 2018 at 7:39 AM ^
Well that is actually legit. POSBANG!!!
December 4th, 2018 at 8:07 AM ^
I sort of disagree it’s posbang. For one it’s for medical reasons. I support him stepping down for being a bad human but still won’t cheer someone suffering medically. And two now we never have a chance to beat that piece of shit
December 4th, 2018 at 8:09 AM ^
You really believe it’s for medical reasons?
December 4th, 2018 at 8:11 AM ^
You ever tell, like, a real lie? It's hard. Wears on you every day.
Now, imagine if 90% of the shit you said on a daily basis was a lie. That's Urban Meyer's life.
December 4th, 2018 at 8:26 AM ^
Enough to make your head hurt
December 4th, 2018 at 11:14 AM ^
well done, Sir! I'm sorry I only have one up vote to give you.
December 4th, 2018 at 11:27 AM ^
Your hypothesis presumes that the person has substance...there are many people who are psychopaths, really, that lying has no effect on them...at all...
December 4th, 2018 at 11:53 AM ^
I think that would be a sociopath, but am not going to read the rest of the 300 threads to see if this came up.
Didn't he cite heart trouble as part of his reason for bolting FL?
December 4th, 2018 at 8:30 AM ^
I don't really care if I get negged for this, I think the whole ITS A CONSPIRACY angle wherein Meyer fakes looking like he's having an aneurism every week like you faking a cough on Thursday to bolster calling off on Friday is stupid.
Coaches are... not healthy. Playing football is bad for you, the lifestyle of coaches are unhealthy. Bo Schembechler had like 80 heart attacks. The idea that a football coach has a myriad of issues that he doesn't want to acknowledge due to his own machismo isn't that out there. Furthermore, the Ohio State job was not supposed to be available for Urban Meyer. I don't think we have reason to believe he would have come back for any other job, we are talking about a school he has a master's degree from in his home state. The guy had a picture of Woody Hayes on his mantle even before he got the Florida job.
December 4th, 2018 at 8:57 AM ^
But I think you're just saying the same thing as the "conspiracy theory" people just with a different tone. Meyer was "too sick" to coach at Florida but a great opportunity comes along that he really really wants and then he's not too sick to coach anymore.
December 4th, 2018 at 9:07 AM ^
Meyer to Notre Dame in 2-3 years. Book it!
December 4th, 2018 at 9:18 AM ^
USC. Book it.
December 4th, 2018 at 9:32 AM ^
Booking.com - book it!
I'm here for the POSBANG
December 4th, 2018 at 9:33 AM ^
Agree, all of a sudden them retaining Helton is making all kinds of sense. Meyer gets a year away for a break, then USC makes him an offer and he gets to resurrect another program.
December 4th, 2018 at 10:11 AM ^
He’s never resurrected a big time program. He walked in to ready made teams at UF and OSU.
December 4th, 2018 at 1:12 PM ^
Hey...are you one of those guys who thinks that we never landed on the moon? That Draco-Reptilians are running the government? That Paul is dead?
One thing for sure, and no theory here.......UM will NEVER beat Urban Meyer.
December 4th, 2018 at 1:26 PM ^
NEVER he says... Did that 10 years ago.
December 4th, 2018 at 10:20 AM ^
NY Giants - book it
December 4th, 2018 at 9:46 AM ^
Yeah, but the difference is that they ascribe all of this to mustache twisting EVILLLLLLLL and I ascribe it to, like, normal human emotions like hubris and a desire to do things even when they aren't medically advisable.
I think it's childish that our fanbase engages in this Alex Jones level crap with Meyer. He's just a dude, there is no conspiracy in which his doctors risk their medical licenses and lie for him just so he can have excuses to keep quitting jobs after *checks notes* unprecedented levels of success on the field.
December 4th, 2018 at 10:21 AM ^
Nobody lied for him - especially medical doctors. They've diagnosed him with an arachnoid cyst, which is the most common type and isn't a life threatening thing. And all they said about him is that he has one. Where the disinformation comes in is from Urban's heartfelt disagreement with his fake suspension - he never once has believed he's done anything wrong in keeping Zach Smith employed, nor for covering for his various ethically deficient goings-on. All the talk around him, and all the negative publicity, has certainly worn on him this year - no arguing that point.
However, he brought it on himself and all he's looking for now is a break from it. He'll be back in a year, or two, at some other factory (perhaps USC) where he'll be hailed as a hero again.
Screw him. He lacks a moral conscience and should never be given any benefit of doubt - he's earned his lack of trust.
December 4th, 2018 at 4:47 PM ^
Brodie, you don't know any of that, any more than people claiming it's a "conspiracy" know that to be true.
December 4th, 2018 at 11:32 AM ^
THAT is not what happened.
What happened, is this...
He wanted to coach OSU, ND, or M, in worst way.. had it in his contract to opt-out, if they ever came calling. He got early word, through back channels, that legally Tressel is gonna go down. Before you scoff at this, a lawyer poster here notified us around the same time, but couldn't go into specifics. In this same time period, Meyer comes up with illness, so he can back out of Florida, sit a bit, and then take the OSU job, avoiding the backlash RR got when he left a big program for another... it was a masterful stroke by Meyer. You best believe that Gene Smith had already confirmed that Meyer would take the job, before Meyer faked the Florida illness.... shocks me how few here realize this...
December 4th, 2018 at 10:55 AM ^
well we do know that he is starting to experience memory loss
December 4th, 2018 at 1:11 PM ^
I do think it’s probably for real medical reasons, and here’s why: A chronic disease can be discouraging as hell; I know from my own experience. You go through periods where you’re down and think the party’s definitely over, and you go through periods when you think you’re fine and can handle whatever career pressures you might face.
In other words, your mind goes back and forth between what you think you can, can’t, should be, shouldn’t be doing.
I’m not surprised that Meyer has gone back and forth regarding his retirement. It’s not atypical, and it doesn’t mean he’s lying. I don’t see a reason to read any more into it than that.
December 4th, 2018 at 10:14 PM ^
Some good points here. But the reason to read more into this is the following: He's a pathological liar. Furthermore, he pulled this exact same stunt at Florida. He doesn't get the benefit of the doubt this time. And he'll be back - book it. USC in 2020 most likely. He'll fit in with the LA phonies perfectly. Dude craves to have his ego stroked.
December 4th, 2018 at 8:10 AM ^
bet that Notre Dame is psyched about their new coach
December 4th, 2018 at 8:12 AM ^
Or USC (after a year off).
December 4th, 2018 at 9:02 AM ^
This, I believe, is why Clay Helton was given another year. Urbz freshens up for a year and moves into SoCal.
December 4th, 2018 at 10:01 AM ^
If you think Urbz couldn’t keep his fly up in Gainsville, just wait until he hits SoCal. :-D
December 4th, 2018 at 10:06 AM ^
This is the greatest show! Meyer to the Packers.
December 4th, 2018 at 8:28 AM ^
Wow, OK. First if you believe any of that bullshit I’ve got some Oceanside property in Kansas to sell you. OSU and Meyer have no credibility, they have continually lied and covered up EVERYTHING. This is what Meyer does. He has a good run with a QB. A year after that QB leaves he has medical issues and must resign. Fuck Urban and Fuck Ohio
December 4th, 2018 at 9:44 AM ^
Eh, to be fair he's had a few good QBs at Ohio St he's won with. Braxton, Cardale Jones, JT, Haskins, and Martell will probably be good too.
December 4th, 2018 at 8:36 AM ^
part 2, yes. please give us another shot at beating that piece of shit
part 1, nope. he’s a bad person who has actually contributed to the misery (real, actual misery, not the phony-baloney football kind) of actual people.
he deserves absolutely none of our sympathy.
December 4th, 2018 at 10:31 AM ^
For real, I wanted to beat him more than anything. I'm annoyed and pissed off that none of the coaches at Michigan, especially, Harbaugh could've beaten him. He's a complete scumbag.
For me (while it's not really the same) its like if Trump decided to retire and not run for reelection. You want to see him get his comeuppance and go out in shame. Michigan had a perfect opportunity to end his career with a fitting victory but instead found themselves on the wrong side of a beatdown. Incredibly disappointing.
December 4th, 2018 at 10:48 AM ^
NO POLITICS.
December 4th, 2018 at 8:40 AM ^
Oh, Michigan had a chance, several of them. Just never got it done while he was at OSU. Meyer will retire with with an unblemished record versus Michigan while at OSU, cementing his legendary status there. So, "Yaaayyy!" I guess.
December 4th, 2018 at 10:55 AM ^
HAHA I KNOW!
SEVEN CHANCES. Sorry, next. For crying out loud, how many chances do people want?
December 4th, 2018 at 8:41 AM ^
Lloyd beat him.
December 4th, 2018 at 9:05 AM ^
Its not for medical reasons. The devil called him and said he wants his soul back.
December 4th, 2018 at 1:08 PM ^
So what the hell will saban do with the soul???
December 4th, 2018 at 9:06 AM ^
Did you ever actually believe we WOULD beat that piece of shit? Cause after this year I lost all confidence we'd ever beat Meyer.
December 4th, 2018 at 9:54 AM ^
ITS AN ASYMPTOMATIC ARACHNOID CYST!!!
Its a red herring designed to create sympathy for a completely unsympathetic character. Jesus Christ, man. It's a fucking fairy tale. The guy is a piece of shit human being and yes this deserves a pos-bang. Fuck this guy. When he comes back again in two years you going to buy this story again?? Unreal with you people.
December 4th, 2018 at 10:20 AM ^
Right... medical reasons.
December 4th, 2018 at 1:22 PM ^
HOW does this have upvotes? I wanted to beat him too but he’s an utter piece of shit. I hope he suffers from his issues.
December 4th, 2018 at 5:48 PM ^
We'll always have the 2008 Capital One Bowl
December 4th, 2018 at 8:41 AM ^
The is good for us in the long run, but it's really gonna chap my ass that that asshole will end his career 7-0 against us. Fuck
December 4th, 2018 at 8:46 AM ^
He and St. Tebow lost to UM in the Citrus Bowl in Lloyd's last game. So he is actually 7-1 against UM.
/waves tiny white flag
December 4th, 2018 at 9:08 AM ^
Good point, kinda. Sigh
December 4th, 2018 at 9:01 AM ^
posbang? Dude gets to go out on a high note, while having the media in lock step with his bullshit cover story, as per usual. That's not posbang worthy at all. He won.
