Has anyone else said they were sitting out besides Gary?
I haven't heard of anyone else announcing this intent, but I saw Adam Rittenburg post a quick overview of the Peach Bowl (among other bowls saying the UM "will be without several draft-eligible defensive standouts" without giving any names (http://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/25432433/picking-winners-every-bowl-game-matchup). Rittenburg was a Big Ten reporter for a long time and could have some inside info, but this could also be a classic case of ESPN giving bogus claims again.

A number of posters on this site have, yes

Don’t know where rittenberg is getting his info. There has been nothing public. However, you’re right that he was the big ten reporter for a while, so I’m sure he has some sources that tell him this. I’m thinking we’d know about this and it probably should have said “may” be without several draft eligible stand outs.
December 4th, 2018 at 9:12 AM ^
Wait, you’re “thinking we’d know about this” ahead of a reporter with inside sources? Why? Because we’re on a blog?? Lol
December 4th, 2018 at 9:34 AM ^
We'd know because Harbaugh issued a public statement on Gary's status?
If other players made the same decision, why would it be a secret, let alone one that Rittenburg would know?
December 4th, 2018 at 11:41 AM ^
I suppose some players could still be deciding?
December 4th, 2018 at 6:55 AM ^
I’d suspect that Chase and Bush sit this one out. Others would be WAGs.
December 4th, 2018 at 7:03 AM ^
Bush said he’s playing.
December 4th, 2018 at 7:04 AM ^
I'd have expected that, too, but didn't Bush say he is in fact playing?
December 4th, 2018 at 7:14 AM ^
Pretty sure Harbaugh said Gary is the only one not playing.
December 4th, 2018 at 8:57 AM ^
Given everything we have seen and heard from Chase, I cannot imagine him sitting out the bowl game.
December 4th, 2018 at 11:25 AM ^
Chase wouldn't sit out any game which is why it's hard not to compare to Gary. I suspect Gary is still recovering. If so, he should sit. Recovery is important. If healthy, go crush some sec skulls.
December 4th, 2018 at 5:39 PM ^
Do you have a clipper ship twaddle tome also?
December 4th, 2018 at 11:43 AM ^
I don't think there's a universe where Chase opts out of playing a game
December 4th, 2018 at 12:40 PM ^
They are both playing.
December 4th, 2018 at 5:41 PM ^
I guess when they talk about the team being their brothers that they will fight with they meant it.
December 4th, 2018 at 7:23 AM ^
I could see hill or long sit out even tho I think both need to return, they r not ready for nfl
December 4th, 2018 at 7:53 AM ^
They are as ready as they will be. I don't know that another year helps there draft stock. They are arguably as good or better than JD when he came out.
December 4th, 2018 at 8:20 AM ^
I don't know about that .....JD had one bad game and that was the Orange Bowl he didn't care about. I personally think Hill and long are both on strib's level as a senior
December 4th, 2018 at 9:14 AM ^
The level of cluelessness on this board never ceases to astound. This is one of the dumber, more misinformed comments we’ve seen in quite some time. Impressive. Ldevon1 I’m going to guesstimate your age to be 15
December 4th, 2018 at 9:35 AM ^
Really? JD had a couple bad games. A guy who never played a down of pro ball had a pretty good day against him at MSU, and Indiana had a pretty good day against him and don't forget who gave up the game winning TD against Florida St. Corners get beat dumbass, it doesn't mean they are bad. Maybe you should compare the career stats between the 3 before you make a clueless comment.

Not true, he's coaching in his bowl game.
December 4th, 2018 at 8:08 AM ^
For now, it’s only Rashan.
Could be more in the coming weeks. Who knows. I think that guy is false reporting for the time being though
December 4th, 2018 at 8:29 AM ^
He's just assuming more will sit out.
December 4th, 2018 at 9:03 AM ^
And we all know what happens when you assume.....
December 4th, 2018 at 10:26 AM ^
Yes. You become completely baffled by an inscrutable scrivener who simply "prefers not to" do any work, and then next thing you know you're changing your office, and questioning your identity (along with your other two neurotic scriveners), and you don't know what's up or down.

Come for the hot takes, stay for the lit refs.
December 4th, 2018 at 9:08 AM ^
This might be the unpopular view, but if guys aren't coming back next year, I'd rather them sit out and let some other guys get valuable experience. Those snaps that could've gone to Hill/Long (if they're leaving) can now go to Ambry and other guys counted on to contribute next year.
December 4th, 2018 at 9:26 AM ^
I would think that winning the bowl game (with the guys not returning playing) is better for the program than losing it (while having younger guys play that day). The young guys still get the bowl practice time, but also have all off season, spring training, and fall camps to get ready. In addition, the coaching staff and playbook for next season might be different than now. Finally, the bowl win certainly doesn't hurt recruiting.

Yes, yes I can see it now:
Jim Harbaugh pulling up to a recruit's house for a sleepover, shirtless, and proudly thrusting the Peach Bowl trophy up in the air while shouting: EAT IT BITCHES!
December 4th, 2018 at 11:39 AM ^
Nobody cares about a Peach Bowl trophy, but 11 wins looks better than 10 wins. And a season-ending win over an SEC team with a lot of eyeballs on the game during bowl season is a good reason for optimism.

A few got hurt in the OSU game. Maybe he's thinking some of those will still be injured.

Gary is the only first round lock on the team, and thus, I expect him to be the only one sitting out.
The only other guy who even approaches first round "lock" status is Bush (he's not a lock though) and he said he's playing.
If you're not a bona fide 1st round lock it's fairly silly to sit out a bowl game, especially so if you're playing an opponent with NFL talent to generate more film against. Chase, Higdon, Hill, Long should all play, IMO, and I think they will.
December 4th, 2018 at 11:03 AM ^
You know on most draft boards they have Bush going before Gary.
December 4th, 2018 at 11:27 AM ^
No. I don't know that.
CBS: Gary 26th, no Bush. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news/2019-nfl-mock-draft-bengals-find-andy-daltons-replacement-pats-target-alabama-te-in-post-gronk-world/
Walter Football: Gary 18th, no Bush. http://walterfootball.com/draft2019_1.php
B/R: Gary 6th, Bush 30th. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2808985-2019-nfl-mock-draft-matt-millers-latest-picks-entering-final-month-of-season#slide6
Drafttek: Gary 16th, no Bush. https://www.drafttek.com/2019-NFL-Mock-Draft-Round1.asp
Tankathon: Gary 17th, no Bush. http://www.tankathon.com/nfl/mock_draft
Most mocks I have seen don't even have Bush as first rounder right now. Gary is a lock. Google: still your friend.

I hope that every gameplan from now on is Nebraska style.
Brian characterized that game as "Harbaugh had a lot of twists and counters prepared, but once it became clear that Frost's team couldn't put up much of a fight, the interesting stuff was put back in the garage."
We should NEVER come out of the gate assuming that half of a creative game plan is enough. Florida should get our best kill shot right at the beginning. And after we've killed them, we should keep killing them. Double tap to the chest and a head shot. Then we should take off and nuke them from orbit.

No, just Rashan Gary is betraying the team, the team that he has always called his "brothers that I want to fight next to".
