For those going. Make sure you go to college football hall of game if you can. It’s awesome.
December 3rd, 2018 at 11:10 AM ^
I went there last August and tried the Skill Zone.
And I still got game!
December 2nd, 2018 at 6:48 PM ^
Yeah, this isn’t creepy or anything.
Totally normal.
December 2nd, 2018 at 9:48 PM ^
Absolutely not. I went to the Cotton Bowl a few years ago and one of the teams stayed at the big Gaylord Texan Hotel. It was really cool - the hotel got all decked out supportythe team and there was a ton of events with the team.
December 3rd, 2018 at 12:46 AM ^
Hotel name checks out.
December 3rd, 2018 at 9:34 AM ^
It's actually really common to stay with the team during bowl games and the hotel will usually have a few team events for fans. It's common for their to be a team send-off before they go to the game along with a few dinners/banquets (usually with the alumni association and is a money raising opportunity).
December 2nd, 2018 at 6:48 PM ^
I’m not entirely sure much of the team is going to go.
December 2nd, 2018 at 6:53 PM ^
Doubt this is like other bowl games for UM fans. The team is not going to spend all week in Atlanta. Where are they going to practice? They might come down as late as Thursday or even Friday.
December 2nd, 2018 at 6:53 PM ^
LOL wut
December 2nd, 2018 at 7:00 PM ^
I'm sure they're looking forward to meeting you, too!
December 2nd, 2018 at 7:00 PM ^
Why go all the way to Atlanta when you can just sneak around dorm rooms in Ann Arbor?
December 2nd, 2018 at 7:01 PM ^
If you send me your credit card number, date and code - I will book you a room.

What is your preferred method of stalking college football players?
December 2nd, 2018 at 7:13 PM ^
The Atlanta Marriott Marquis is the “official” Michigan hotel. I don’t know (and don’t care) if the team is staying there.
December 2nd, 2018 at 7:15 PM ^
You can stay at my house if you want! I walked on to the team for a period of time, and even have a real helmet in my house, and I still have the dish washing habits of a college kid, so it will be just like meeting the guys!
You're going to have to sleep in my office though, and Mrs. Toboggan doesn't know I've extended this offer, so it all could change.
December 2nd, 2018 at 9:32 PM ^
I'm sure she'll be fine with it.
December 2nd, 2018 at 11:08 PM ^
Oh yeah...right up until you show up at the door. Don't worry...that won't be awkward at all.
December 2nd, 2018 at 9:38 PM ^
Lol, I thought about offering up my place since I'll be out of town and I'm convenient to Marta, but my wife would probably lose it.
But if anyone wants info on where to go and what to do while in Atlanta (other than creeping on the team) , let me know.
December 2nd, 2018 at 9:40 PM ^
Same, the other thing that irks me about this bowl selection is I will probably still be in Michigan for the holidays. Couldn't go to Atlanta when it meant something smh.
December 2nd, 2018 at 9:50 PM ^
I wish I had the time to get back up there. Only went for school and never saw much of Michigan other than AA, Detroit and the odd trip to Windsor for dim sum every now and then.
December 2nd, 2018 at 10:15 PM ^
Take a week or more one summer to go to Northern Michigan on a lake, you won't regret it. You can't convince me that there's a better place on Earth than Northern Michigan in the summer (except maybe the perfect fall day in Michigan...maybe a trip to Blake's and then a bonfire with friends). Traverse City, Glen Arbor, Leeland, Empire, anywhere. It's heaven.
Outside of that, there's not a ton you're missing I guess. Grand Rapids is very nice, there's things here and there. I'm partial to Detroit, I really love the city. There are things around Atlanta that remind me of Detroit, but Detroit will always be home to me.
December 3rd, 2018 at 8:48 AM ^
I'll second Northern Michigan - it can't be beat. Any of the towns on the lakes (Huron or Michigan), but also all of the little inland lakes are awesome. Hunting, fishing, swimming, sailing on the big lakes... It's all there!
December 2nd, 2018 at 11:23 PM ^
and the odd trip to Windsor for dim sum every now and then.
I'll be darned... when I was growing up it was called the Windsor ballet.
December 3rd, 2018 at 11:41 AM ^
"and the odd trip to Windsor for dim sum every now and then."
"Dim sum" must be Canadian for "Windsor Ballet."

Sorry guys, the titty bars here in Georgia are tops. I was shocked when I first went to other states that the girls couldn't strip all the way, or lap dance or bang you in a private room. So I've heard.
December 4th, 2018 at 5:54 PM ^
Nudie bars in Guam beat anything around... it's a full contact sport there!
So I've been told.

About Marta, is she hot?
December 3rd, 2018 at 9:38 AM ^
Just make sure you pick your toe knives up off the floor before you have guests over, Mantis. Wrap those botched toes up!

Lmao one of my favorite moments. Botched Toe!

Ask WolverineDevotee. He has the inside info you're looking for.
December 2nd, 2018 at 7:35 PM ^
Well, the thing is, for most bowl games, this is information that's usually easy to find out. They tend to use the same hotels, year after year, assigned to the particular tie-ins/home or away/etc. With all the public events and such, this isn't actually a terribly creepy question on its face. That being said, the hotel will usually be locked up between the team, the university and other folks, often that'll be where the Alumni Association tour will have some rooms, etc.
December 2nd, 2018 at 7:48 PM ^
Here in dallas, the sec team stays at the Hilton anatole whenever they're in town.
December 2nd, 2018 at 8:03 PM ^
It is certainly extremely creepy. Our players/coaches are not going to the Bowl to hangout with fans. No one needs to know what hotel they're staying in.
December 2nd, 2018 at 9:40 PM ^
I mean, maybe if the bowl games or teams tried to hide it... For a lot of bowl games, this is readily available and public information. When I went to the Alamo Bowl, it was in the bowl materials, IIRC. The Rose Bowl was always pretty public about it, too. It's not treated with the secrecy of, say, away games, when the visiting team will stay somewhere miles away from campus in all but an undisclosed location.
It's not like you're going to be able to go knock on doors, or that players or coaches will just be sitting around the lobby to kibbutz with the masses. For the most part, they're in and out for events and practice.
Your best expectations will be what it's like if you happened to walk by the Campus Inn when the players were there for the Friday nights before home games. They'd walk around the neighborhood on Saturday morning, but would just politely say hi and keep on walking if people tried to talk to them.
