This probably doesn't change anything, but aren't these simply bowl invitations, not contractual assignments.  Could Warde simply say (privately/subtlely): "we appreciate the offer, but we would respectfully decline if a rematch with UF is proposed"?  This could perhaps give them (committee/bowl organizers) incentive to arrange a different matchup.

I think the payout to UM is bigger in the Peach than say the Citrus, plus the prestige of a CFP invitation can't be turned down. That snub could come back to bite us in some future CFP vote.

There is a still a good chance to put UCF and Florida in the Peach as the draw from Florida to Atlanta would be huge.  Placing UM in Atlanta on Dec 29 isn't going to go as well for the Peach.  If the committee is going by the economics, they will put LSU vs UM in the Fiesta and UCF vs Florida in the Peach.

In theory this might be true but no sane person aware of the history of college football believes that the Peach Bowl is the same as the Rose Bowl. Also, location, location, location. Plus December 29th. There's really no argument to be made that it's on par with the Orange, Sugar, Fiesta or Rose in practice regardless of whether it is designated as such.

Absolutely awful. Such a promising year and made real improvements, but this just makes everything feel like we're right back in the Capital One Bowl on January 1st, 2008 against the same damn team. Makes it feel like nothing has changed in over a decade. Even if we could play like LSU it would feel somewhat different

Atlanta is a nice city, it's just not somewhere I want to go for a bowl game in December.  Was looking forward to an oceanfront dinner at Duke's, taking the fam to Disneyland and the RB.  Sorry but that scenario would be disappointing.

It does suck. Our only hope is that the Peach Bowl selects its teams first and decides that Michigan-LSU would bring better attendance and ratings, and leave an all-Florida matchup to UCF and Florida. I know Florida is ranked higher than LSU but the Peach Bowl does not need to abide by those rankings. They can pick anyone they want.

That said, I'm not sure the Peach Bowl picks first, before the Fiesta. Researching this is mind-bleedingly frustrating, all any sites talk about it Contract and Access bowls.
