One of the best heavyweight fights I have seen in years. Fury controlled the tempo of the fight with incredible defense and accurate jabs for the majority of the fight. Wilder had a great knockdown in Round 9, but missed on what would have surely KO’d Fury. In the 12th, Wilder absolutely pummeled Fury with a combination causing Fury to fall backwards straight on his head. Fury has to be the only fighter in the world able to get up from that.
Fight ends in a split decision draw. Fury outboxed Wilder for the fight but Wilder had the two biggest moments. Both fighters remain undefeated and Wilder holds on to his belt.
I am very interested to see what happens yet. Wilder isn’t mandated to a rematch, and Joshua still sits undefeated holding all of the other belts. As a boxing fan, I want to see Wilder and Joshua fight to unify the title. Two undefeated heavyweights with a chance to be the undisputed champ is an incredible opportunity that doesn’t come along often. Fury can fight some good challengers in the meantime and be poised to take on the winner.
To all who watched the fight, what are your thoughts, and what do you want to see next?
