Adjustments and Game Plan

Submitted by Lakeyale13 on November 24th, 2018 at 1:18 PM

Please someone correct me if I am wrong, but it looks like Ohio State actually looked at our game tape and saw how Indiana exposed us with the crossing routes (as the announcers comment with regularity) and then created a game plan around that exposed weakness.

Yet, with our offense, it looks like we are running the same exact plays we have run all season.  I am no football coach so I am happy to be corrected if I am wrong.  So for all you people with actual football knowledge (unlike me) are we showing any different looks than every other game?

Pep Hamilton is complete trash.

Head coaches who have employed him:

Lovie Smith

Chuck Pagano

Hue Jackson

Jim Harbaugh

Its the same old shit every year with this staff.  People think we're saving stuff in the playbook and we get to the end and there's nothing.  Just the same vanilla there always is.

Shea RPOs are the new PepCat wrinkles.

At this point I hope we lose by 40. Get a real offensive coordinator. And to be completely honest, I’m fed up with Don Brown’s aggressive defense.

Sorry, I was making a statement.  I wasn't suggesting you were being critical of Don Brown's Defense.  I was trying to suggest that his formula works like a charm until you meet great athletes at the skill position.

If you can continually make plays on the corners that are 1 on 1 then you are gonna beat his Defensive concept all day long.

Man coverage when you don't get home is a recipe for problems.

Brown's defensive stats are always going to look good against mediocre and even above average offenses because they will exploit mismatches. But when you don't get the mismatches and a team runs man beaters every play, that's going to cause problems--big problems!

This game was always going to come down to whether Ohio State could protect well enough and get open enough to create big plays in the passing game--stats be damned. They clearly have been able to do that.

Idiot. Fed up with the guy who constantly has one of the best defenses. Right. Our problem is the offense (again). OSU is killing us in passing simply because their WRs are faster than our DBs, which was discussed all week. We all knew their WRs would be open.

Their WR's are open because they are faster / better athletes and we play press / one on one with our corners almost 100% of the time.  That is what Don Brown's defensive concept is predicated upon.  If you can bust his scheme, with greater athletes than what the DB's can cover (see Watson and their picking on him in the first half) then the defensive scheme breaks down.  You then have to switch to a zone defense which is what Don Brown doesnt want to do.

OSU is having their way with getting WRs on LBs and TEs on DBs.

This game is over.

I don't know if "everyone" plays up for Michigan, but what I do know is Ohio State does.

If OSU pulls this win out it will just solidify that Urban (as much as a scumbag of a human being he is) is just in a different class of a football coach than Harbaugh.

I was saying the same. Going for two in that situation made no sense whatsoever. They didn’t need two points. Kick the point. Go for two only when needed. It is NEVER needed in the first half. It is amazing how many coaches go for two when it is not needed.

Had don brown ever heard of Ohio state? Did he know the name or number of any player on their offense?

Well, a lot of people wanted OSU to beat Maryland and be "as highly ranked as possible" to play us.  Happy?

I've never understood that masochistic thinking.  If the Maryland QB completes that 2-pointer, we're already B1G East champs and headed to Indy, and OSU is probably demoralized.

Maybe get OSU Oline a holding call or two? Holy fuck. How can any objective eye look at the pressure they've got all year and see what they've been unable to do this game and not realize they are holding the shit outta them.?
