RIP Maggie St. Clair, longtime MMB administrator
Statement from the Michigan Marching Band:
Dear Alumni, Friends, and Families,
The Michigan Marching Band is devastated to share the sad news of the passing of a beloved member of the family, Maggie St. Clair. Maggie suffered a medical emergency this morning just before departing for the Ohio State game. Her loss is tragic. We hold her husband Jerry, her son Craig and her entire family in our thoughts and prayers during this extremely difficult time.
It is impossible to encompass everything that Maggie meant to the Michigan Marching Band in a short statement. She has been the heart of this organization for decades. The high standards that she held herself and those around her to helped shape the MMB into what it is today. Maggie has touched the lives of thousands of individuals within the University community. Her commitment and unrelenting passion for the organization will be greatly missed. Her contributions will be a part of the fabric of the Michigan Marching Band forever. She was a Leader and she was the Best.
We will post information regarding services for Maggie as the details becomes available.

I'm speechless. Maggie was an institution. She was the first person a lot of us met at Revelli, and often one of the few people we'd always see coming in and out of the building. An incredibly nice person who did everything for the band program. I don't even know what else to say other than this is just a terrible, terrible loss.

What a loss for us. She was fantastic - she knew all 500 of us by name, could make miracles out of debacles and saved my bacon more than once. As Bando mentioned, she was the first person many of us met in the MMB, and she set the tone of professionalism immediately, from the first day of camp in the sweltering August sun. She had deep institutional knowledge and was fun to talk to. Condolences to her personal family and to our MMB family, and a warm and hearty thank you to her.

This is awful news. As the statement says, it is impossible to put into words what Maggie meant to the MMB.

The thought that keeps coming to mind is that the answer to every question around the program, both as a student and an alum, is "hm, I don't know, go ask Maggie."

Incredibly Sad...
Maggie was the cog that kept the wheels turning for the MMB. Couldn’t believe it when I heard the news this morning. As an MMB alum, it feels like part of the MMB itself passed this morning

I am shocked, stunned and just incredibly sad. I don't even know how the MMB can get through things today. I would be a wreck. What an indescribable loss to everyone. My heart goes out to Maggie's family and the whole MMB family. We've all lost a very special person.

Was so sorry to hear of Maggie’s passing. Still cherish the MMB pin she gave me for running a little errand for the band. Peace to her memory.

Not being in the band, I never met Maggie, but I recall seeing her on the sidelines, always looked happy to be there and proud of her band. From the friends I have that have been in the band, she was universally liked.
