Pre-game Speech nominees
When All or Nothing came out, one of my favorite parts was when Jim had his father Jack to address the team before the bowl game and deliver one of the best, highly motivating pre-game speeches I've ever heard.
If you had your pick, who do you bring in to address the team in the locker room right before they hit the field on Saturday? Who's going to give a kick-ass speech and fire everyone up to go out and blast the Buckeyes?
I'm thinking Jim should get Woodson in there if he's not lined up already - especially since he made the first guarantee earlier this year that we will win in Columbus.

We claw with our fingernails for that inch.

Taylor Lewan....I want our guys, particularly our OL ready to run through walls and destroy anything in their paths
November 20th, 2018 at 1:19 PM ^
Eh, no.
Taylor Lewan is a great OL, in discussion for the best LT to ever attend Michigan. He was probably a great teammate, and I don't doubt his love for Michigan.
It's also not clear if he's that good of a person. The only words of his that I ever read were also...less than motivating. Finally, given the suspected state of B1G refereeing, I'm not sure I want our team playing like Lewan liked to play - that's just handing the refs excuses...
I'll admit that I haven't kept up on the guy, so I don't know how his play style and personality (character) have grown.

My vote is for Jake Long.

Personally - Would rather just have Jim Harbaugh, the four captains (Higdon, Bredeson, Kinnel and Bush) plus the vocal leader and unofficial captain Winovich lead the pregame speeches - and show their leadership on the field/sidelines. The real credibility will come from them - the ones they have been in the trenches with this year.
The need for past players to speak is not this Saturday. This team needs their support, and the support of the students, alumni and fans. But on that field - they have to rely on each other.

100% agree with this. Focus on the team right now.

Jack could fire my ass up by just asking me to pass the Raisin Bran.
I go with Woodson, but not for a speech. Just have him wander around the room pregame and around the field during warmups. Make a comment or two to a handful of players. That sort of thing worked for me in high school:
"Let's get it today, son."
"You're gonna play fast and vicious today. Get it."
My favorite: "You will hate yourself if you play like a ******y."

Jack should really write a parenting book. All his kids turned out pretty good.

His daughter married Tom Crean...
November 20th, 2018 at 1:27 PM ^
Fair point, but they've been married a long time. Maybe he's a great family man while at the same time being a raging cunt on the basketball court. Jim always has nice things to say about him.

All that fiber could fire anyone's ass up

I laughed.

I'd just show footage of last year's game. Or animals eating eachother.

The DJ Durkin pregame hype up! Bold move Cotton
November 20th, 2018 at 12:38 PM ^
Winovich, Gary, Bush, etc. These guys felt the pain last year and in 2016. I don’t think they need an outside motivator.
November 20th, 2018 at 5:51 PM ^
Or how about having Tom Brady just stand there without uttering a single word glaring at the team with his icy stare game face.
November 20th, 2018 at 12:39 PM ^
I don't think there's anyone better to deliver this speech than Jim himself. Why not? He's LIVED IT. Jim was the winning QB in back-to-back games vs OSU in 1985 and 1986, and actually managed to win in Columbus -- which has been damn rare in recent memory, to say the least.
There's no need for a guest speaker.
November 20th, 2018 at 12:40 PM ^
Tom has unexpected umph for this kind of thing, he'd do a great job
November 20th, 2018 at 12:42 PM ^
I want it to be Chase Winovich (after a week when his status is in doubt), suited up and ready to go, laying all of his emotions on the line about how it's time to take OSU's lunch money.
November 20th, 2018 at 12:51 PM ^
I feel like Chase gives motivation to everyone during the game while captains get the ceremonial pregame honors. I have a feeling all those players are seeing this week is a barrage of photos and youtubes of last year with OSU players dancing in the endzone. Hate is powerful motivator and it did the trick against the Spartans. What else would you need to get up for this game than the thought of cruel, will breaking revenge?
November 20th, 2018 at 12:43 PM ^
I have a feeling they'll be dialed in no matter what, but you have to figure it'll be Harbaugh himself and maybe a couple of clipping from past defeats.
November 20th, 2018 at 12:47 PM ^
No speech needed. Just imitate Bo in 1969 - silence until the officials say its time to head out to the field. Jim can pace around, waiting a few more minutes. Then, simply say "it's time".
Fuck Ohio.

Don Brown.
November 20th, 2018 at 12:57 PM ^
This is the correct answer.
November 20th, 2018 at 12:52 PM ^
Jamie Morris. Because I like the sound of his voice.

Bring back Coach Hanlon! At close to 90, bet he could reach back and bring a paint peeling speech. Still remember his speech at football camp, "because I love football!"
November 20th, 2018 at 1:05 PM ^
John Beilein
November 20th, 2018 at 1:06 PM ^
They got him in the locker room already...Come on man......DON BROWN!!!!!!
Just look at him...
November 20th, 2018 at 1:24 PM ^
Truthfully, someone who would get the team laughing and loosen them up a bit.

How about Mitch McGary says nothing at all, while holding a white board?
Win the Game!
November 20th, 2018 at 2:41 PM ^
Friend just sent this to me. Maybe ya’ll have seen before, but I thought this would make a pretty good speech!:
November 20th, 2018 at 3:41 PM ^
I would go for a video montage of former players who these kids would know explaining what winning this game would me....maybe just guys who played in the wins. It ties them to the history of the Game and The Players who battle on the field they are going out on.
November 20th, 2018 at 4:43 PM ^
Honestly, nothing should be said. The team should watch Ben Mason max out on the bench press before running out of the tunnel
November 20th, 2018 at 9:49 PM ^
To me this is easy the guest speaker should be Urban Meyer. Show them Urbz wearing his championship jacket at GVSU this past summer preaching how you need to beat your rivals taking indirect shots right in Jims face.
