Anxious/Nervous for Saturday?

Submitted by Ajcoss on November 19th, 2018 at 11:27 PM

I have been coming on here for the last couple of years. Usually at minimum once a day to check it out whether it’s May or this week. Clearly more content this week than May lol. With that said, as fans crazy the team we all care about the most and spend countless hours a year following comes down to 3-4 hours for what many of us would call the biggest win in the Harbaugh era. Crazy how much an outcome of a game can impact whether or not you have a good weekend or even fall for that matter lol.

My questions as we gear up for Saturday:

1. How often do you check this blog a day? During season I say 5-6 times a day.

2. How nervous are you on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being you can’t sleep and having nightmares of the past 15 matchups? I’ll say I am a 7, probably 8 by Friday lol.

3. Where will you watch the game? My house. I stand and watch as my Tv is mounted, so basically eye level. My wife probably Home, but she knows how big this game is and how nuts I go. At home, I miss 0 plays and hear entire game.

4. Do you consider Saturday the make or break game to decide if this was a successful season? No. I had high expectations all season with the talent on this team. Successful is Big 10 title. Anything in CFP would be gravy.

5. If I said OSU scores 31, would you take it knowing UM can deplete this D for 32+? Yes. I think OSU scores. Not sure they can stop anyone. Keep them under 35, I like it.

Call it a character defect / flaw, but I am nervous about Saturday and won't enjoy watching the game.  My hopes are so high and I feel like I've been Charlie Brown going to kick the football and Lucy keeps pulling it away.

I just want us to win.  I don't care if its ugly.  I don't care if we get a really bad call to go our way.  I just want to see us beat OSU finally.

And I wouldn't say our season was a failure if we lose Saturday, but I will say it will be the second time that Coach H has had a team that was better and that he should have defeated OSU.  The other being the "JT Barrett poor spot".  I don't care if it was a poor spot (objectively I think it really could have gone either way and wouldn't be overturned by video replay).  If you have to rely on one play to go your way to win, then you didn't do enough to win the game.

Your last part is wrong. UM actually DID do enough to win, despite their mistakes (turnovers), but the game was literally taken from them by incompetent referees who, for whatever reason, also had it out for Harbaugh all game with the lack of calls against OSU. I’ll never get over that game.

I'll answer #2.  I had a nightmare last night but it wasn't about the game.  I dreamed that someone broke into my house and I saw a figure run into my bedroom with a gun as I was sleeping then pointed the gun at my head.  I woke up before anything happened and my heart was beating 200 beats per minute.  Scared the crap out of me.  Not sure if Saturday's game will scare me that much.  Anyway, cool story bro, and all.

1) 5-6 as well

2) 10, always a 10 for this game

3) I do exactly as you normally, but we’re traveling and a great friend, who always takes me to this game when it’s at home is hosting.  I generally do not like being around others for this game, too amped.

4) Right now yes, but in reality no.  It’s been a good season, this would make it great and making the playoff would be special.

5). We need 28+ to win.

1. 3 or more times a day

2. 1. I'm more worried about where im gonna cop a piece of pumpkin pie, since no one else in my family eats it for Thanksgiving. I'm a fat guy. Best meal of the year is my immediate concern. There will be plenty of time to hate Buckeyes once the triptamine wears off.

3. My brothers house since we are 10-0 when i watch the game at his house this year. And my nephew has muscular dystrophy and loves Michigan Football so i watch games with him when i can.

4. Yes, if the standard is Big Ten titles, then winning Saturday is the only acceptable outcome.

5. You could say OSU scores 100, and i wouldn't give two shits, as long as we scored 101.

1. A couple times a day, depending on how busy work is and if there is any sort of big news expected. This week will be a bit higher.

2. 7-8 now, will be 10 on Saturday, is a 10 on most gamedays no matter what, just my character.

3. Back home for Thanksgiving. I'll watch it with my dad, an OSU fan, with my mom popping in and out. The trip back home afterwards will vary greatly depending on the result.

4. I think this season is acceptably succesful so far, especially with a close lose.  A win, and then Big 10 title will make it a very succesful season and after that is just a positive.

5. Keep OSU to 3 or less offensive TDs and it will be a win for sure, leaves room for pick six or a kick return of some kind. If both teams get above 30, it'll one possesion win for one team or the other.

More anxious than nervous. 8/10. Hard to focus on anything else for too long before my mind drifts back to this season.  I'm excited for the team and hope Winovich gets to play because he came back another year for this. But more than anything, I want to see Harbaugh and this team shut up his critics. We're not over the hump until Michigan wins convincingly in The Game.

(Watching Urban's head explode from a ruptured arachnoid cyst would be nice.)

1. I check MGoBlog 2-5 times a day in the off-season. Counting cell phone, I probably check 10 times a day during the season, and more than that this week.

2. Nervousness =7 now, but will be 10 by kickoff.

3. Watch the Game with my wife and kids at home. I am pretty insane about not missing a thing - wife is as batshit crazy watching the games as me and kids (11 and 7) love the games.

4. No. Will I be miserable if we lose?  Yes. But great season nonetheless. As a fan, if I am still checking the playoff rankings because we are right in the thick of it by week 13, that’s a great season. Logically speaking, OSU is one of the 5 most talent stocked teams in the country and, despite looking like crap in a few games, they almost never lose under m Urban.

5. If you told me that OSU will score 32 this weekend, I would be officially worried and probably not sleep much between now and then.

1.  3.14 times per day.

2.  2 (on that scale).  I'm just very eagerly looking forward to it, and have been all year.

3.  At the house, with wife, dad, and fellow Wolverine.

4.  Between yes and no.  The season is already successful, but it makes a huge difference on whether or not we beat the bucknuts.

5.  You mean would I take a guaranteed 1 point win over the possibility of a loss and the possibility for a larger than 1 point win?  I guess I'd take the guaranteed 1 point win.  But . . . I think Michigan will win by more than 1 point.

1. A few times a day in the season usually to check the board for new topics. I'm not on Twitter so it's kind of like my Twitter.

2. I'm a solid 3 right now with a slow build to a 7 Saturday morning. Will be at 10 with the first phantom P.I. call to give OSU a bullshit first down.

3. At a bar. Will start drinking around 11 and slow roll the buzz for next few hours.

4. No, it's already a success. A win Saturday makes it a once a decade type season.

5. Great question. PSU held them to 27 and MSU held them to 17 (on D). Granted, both games were on the road but I think something between is our magic number. I'll go with 24points. If we hold them to that we should win absent a turnover shit show.

I’m excited.  Not nervous at all.  Been a long time since M has been in a position like this so I’m just enjoying the ride.

win I’m drinking a lot of very very nice scotch, lose it’s no big deal.  Keep drinking my beer and go hang with the family.

It’s just a football game and I’m older so I don’t get that worked up about it.

1) 8-10 times a day (I'm retired)

2) 6-7 getting worse as Saturday approaches

3) usually go to a bar with my wife and kids but wifey is freaking out.  She's an 11 to question #2 so we're staying in with friends and family

4) not make or break.  It'll be a disappointing loss if it happens but wife has always wanted to go to the Rose Bowl.  They've been great this year.

5) don't care how much they score. As long as we score more. 30-24 good guys!!

I was actually more nervous for the msu game than this game...until higdons guarantee. Not sayin it was a bad thing, but still. Osu will play the best they've played all season. They will score on us and it'll be frustrating at times with the screens and slants. I don't think our offense is as explosive as theirs but our defense will be firm enough. I really have no idea how this game will go, but I would've felt much better if we were at home, obviously. All in all, win or lose I love this team and I know good things will happen for us soon. How soon? I guess we'll see. This team embodies exactly what you'd hope for from your home-grown team. I appreciate everything about this team and if someone would've told me or you that we would be in this position after the ND game, we would've taken it in a heartbeat. Coaches and players, win or lose, thank you for restoring my faith in our Michigan program!

5-6 times is accurate for me.

8 on the scale even though I have tried to be less invested afterwll it’s just a game, and it’s slighlty naive to put so much into this.

Most likely at home

it shouldn’t be but yes it’s make or break. Really all a coach can do is put you in a position to win, by building a program with players coaches culture etc.  but even if that’s done at a high level, our chances of winning this game are 60%.  That means that JH can do everything the same way and yet a certain amount of luck will control a narrative that is absolute, that’s ridiculous.

Not sure I’d take 31.  I think we give up between 17-24.  24 to ND is still the highest total we have given.

There is no 10 when it comes to The Game. I go to 11.

I’ve arranged for an anesthesiologist to be on hand to sedate me in case of a loss, He may also need to sedate me if we win.

My brother who went to MSU says he’ll burn his couch in my honor either way. I’m a little worried, since it’s in his living room.

1. Way too many

2. Literally had a nightmare last night about The Game, so must be a 10. However, my anxiety is about getting screwed by the refs again or cheap shots resulting in injuries to our key players. Otherwise I believe we win comfortably.

3. Taking my daughter to the game. Section 26C - my 2nd game and her first in the toilet bowl

4. Yes

5. Depends on how quickly and often we score, but if we hold them under 24 points, then I’ll be comfortable.

Question 1: Once or twice per day. Mainly interested in recruiting and injury news at this point, because 'tis the season.

Question 2: Probably an 8 out of 10.  Michigan should win this game, but turnovers, Urban Meyer, penalties, ejections, refs, in-game injuries, poor play calling by our OC Pep Hamilton and overall coaching staff clock management all combine to put me in a terrible state every time.  Michigan has a shitty record vs. Ohio State since 2001. Due for a turnaround, but....can't be overconfident.

Question 3: CFB Reddit Streams probably.

Question 4: Yes. Mainly because Michigan "hasn't played anybody".  The entire 2019 Michigan schedule - start to finish - has been a marshmallow walk this year to be honest. NW, MSU,Wiscy, PSU and even Ohio St. are all pansy opponents that an Alabama or a Clemson would decisively curb stomp. We know this is true.

And we also all know that Michigan WILL NOT curb stomp Ohio State on the road in Columbus.  As always, they will conspire to "make it an unnecessarily chaos game" that on paper should not be a game at all.

Further, a UM win vs. this Ohio State team will be dismissed and minimized by the media, etc.  A loss to this Ohio St. team would be unforgivable given the circumstances. And Harbaugh and Michigan would never live that down because there simply are no excuses anymore.

So to me Saturday seems more and more like lose-lose for Michigan. The only difference is ahead of this game, Michigan has every reason for optimism of a victory.

For Ohio State, if they defeat No. 4 Michigan at home, it redeems Meyer, their football season, and they will almost assuredly win the BIG10 championship.  Again.

If they play true to form, Michigan should annihilate this OSU team and hold them to less than 20 pts, especially we look at common decent opponents and results.

Question 5: I think Michigan's D will play very well against Ohio State's O and keep them under 30 pts . I am far more concerned about Michigan offensive performance vs. OSU defense across the board - QB play, OL protection and blocking, receivers, turnovers and UM play calling.

Here's the deal. I had a moment of zen on September 15, 2018. Higdon to the right to score, and Michigan wins by 12. It has already been seen, and thus has already happened.
