Urban Meyer on the sidelines
Urban Meyer's been rubbing his hair so often, you'd think he's auditioning for a shampoo or hair products ad. He doesn't like he's enjoying his immensely well-compensated dream job one bit.
(Perhaps better asked on Eleven Warriors or O-Zone, but don't really want to spend any time over there this week, but...) honestly, looks so miserable all the time on the sidelines, been wondering why doesn't he go orchestrate his evil empire from the press box on game days?
Serious question.
[It's possible that part of the reason it's bothering me is because he looks so pathetic recently, and I hate the idea of feeling sorry for Buckeye anything.]

I hope we make him shit his pants on Saturday
November 19th, 2018 at 3:41 AM ^
Very underrated statement.
November 19th, 2018 at 5:44 AM ^
I hope we make him second guess his life at ohio state.
November 19th, 2018 at 6:33 AM ^
Shitting them ugly grey pants would suffice for me.
November 19th, 2018 at 7:01 AM ^
I hope we make him shit his cooler on Saturday. (There fixed it...) ;-)
November 18th, 2018 at 10:53 PM ^
The man seems to have serious health issues but I just can't feel sorry for him given the reasons they are now public. This all seems a little too manipulative to drum up public sympathy in the wake of his shitbaggery being exposed.
November 18th, 2018 at 11:06 PM ^
I'd feel sorry for him if he had to work, if his economic circumstances dictated that he keep bringing in that $$. Given that he's probably worth in excess of $20,000,000 though I can comfortably hate him.
November 19th, 2018 at 7:27 AM ^
Google says his value is $20M with an annual salary of $5.8M. How are you only worth $20M after making $1M+ for 20 years with the last 10 being $3-$8? How do you spend that much money?
November 19th, 2018 at 8:14 AM ^
Well, if you assume he has some, but only some, tax mitigation strategies, then factor in lifestyle, etc...
The obvious answer is that he's had to spend a LOT of money to stay married after banging Florida coeds.
November 19th, 2018 at 9:02 AM ^
His recruits don’t come cheap.
November 18th, 2018 at 11:20 PM ^
I think his biggest health issues are OSU’s regression back to very good but not great and the exposure of Urbz win at all cost regime.
November 18th, 2018 at 11:21 PM ^
Dude. Man (or Woman). Bro. Bruh. MgoFriend. These health issues are too convenient.
He has an "arachnoid cyst," a condition with no observable symptoms. Further, he just starts banging on his head this season, amidst a national scandal, but has had this condition for "years."
Either it's an unlikely coincidence or he's planning his escape/greasing the escape chute. He'd be more discriminant if he was staying for next season. He has to convince recruits otherwise and he's slamming on his head like he's possessed on national TV.
Also, it's not like this year is actually more stressful for him. He's shown he's indignant about the scandal and cares much more about winning.
November 18th, 2018 at 11:35 PM ^
Malingering, not to be confused with fictitious disorder.
November 19th, 2018 at 2:56 AM ^
This ^^^^^
It’s a bit TMI-ish for this venue but after an MRI, I was diagnosed with an arachnoid cyst at the base of my neck 20 years ago. When the discovery was first announced and I finished crapping pants for fear that I was just told I had six months to live, the doctor (at the Mayo Clinic nonetheless) could barely contain his laughter while telling me those things are so common and benign in that region that it’s akin to getting a diagnosis of an ingrown toenail.
Since then I’ve had the cyst looked at many times over by myriad medical professionals and have mentioned to many others - each time, it was shrugged off. Either it’s a well coordinated effort to keep my spirits up, or “Arachnoid cyst” is the absolute bullshit medical term one uses when they’re looking for something like sympathy.
November 19th, 2018 at 9:07 AM ^
Not TMI at all and provides helpful context which means I don't have to google a medical term(which can get..interesting).
November 18th, 2018 at 11:32 PM ^
Serious health issues.... ok…don't fall for that crap.... he used that to get out of Florida and save face, so he could line up a year ahead of time to land his OSU job.... he is doing it again.... but this time its pretext for a firing...
So he has serious health issues you say, but somehow, they don't impact recruiting??? That's a neat trick, isn't it...
November 19th, 2018 at 8:49 AM ^
As Randy Quaid would say...Bingo! The man has health issues, but he's laying it on thick. Don't see how he doesn't excuse himself out the door at the end of the season, waiting a year or two, and going back into coaching. Should be his worst year at OSU, and just like Florida, when the goin' gets tough Urbz gets going...
November 18th, 2018 at 10:54 PM ^
I'm not sure I've ever seen a coach as miserable as he has been this season. Couldn't happen to a better guy!
November 18th, 2018 at 11:56 PM ^
Hopefully his next 60 minutes on the sidelines will be his most miserable EVER!!!
November 19th, 2018 at 12:44 AM ^
Hopefully his next 60 minutes on the sidelines will be his last 60 minutes on the sidelines. Also, hopefully he doesn't bring his douchebaggery back to college football analyzing for any sports network.
November 18th, 2018 at 11:56 PM ^
When Phil Jackson was struggling with serious back problems, he would sit on a special high-chair. Urban’s pained squatting has me thinking he needs to borrow Phil’s chair. Urban can’t even stand for very long before he’s doubling over in agony. But I have NO sympathy for that man.
November 18th, 2018 at 10:55 PM ^
I don't feel sorry for him. I think the way he operates is a sprint and when it burns and he gets stressed, his health problems flare up. But he wins at all cost and when it doesn't work out, he's supposed to earn some pity? Fuuuuuck that
November 18th, 2018 at 10:56 PM ^
I believe that's he legitimately ill. But if that's the case, then step away. You're not doing anyone a service by coaching your worst team since you took over and looking completely miserable while doing it. How anyone in their right mind would want to watch that for another season, especially with the product they've put on the field, is beyond me
November 18th, 2018 at 10:56 PM ^
I don't trust him. It is all an act.
November 18th, 2018 at 11:27 PM ^
I agree. My gut feeling is that he’s playing it up. To me, he looks like a guy who is frustrated that a loaded team is flirting w disaster each play. Like he made a deal w the devil and the devil is teasing him.
November 19th, 2018 at 7:34 AM ^
Wait...he made a deal with himself? I personally have no...

November 19th, 2018 at 9:52 AM ^
I feel the same. After his history of odd medical maladies popping up when his team isn't elite anymore paired with recent events of lying, I think this is all bullshit. And the thing is, he's such an unlikable guy that even if I'm wrong, I still don't care. Just beat their asses Saturday.
November 18th, 2018 at 10:57 PM ^
Because the cameras won't catch him in his dire health condition in the press box.
November 18th, 2018 at 11:00 PM ^
It’s an act, obviously. If not, why doesn’t his head “hurt” when OSU makes a play. It only seems to hurt when they screw up. Kind of like when Kobe pretended he had a bad knee except it only hurt on defense. Total BS.
November 18th, 2018 at 11:06 PM ^
expect to see more flaring up of the headaches this Saturday...
November 19th, 2018 at 9:56 AM ^
Luckily for Urban, he can forget all about it after taking his meds that night.
November 18th, 2018 at 11:03 PM ^
He doesn't look happy because the results on the field. He's behind in games and all coaches look shitty at that time. Lucky bastard keeps winning though... hope we crush them.
November 18th, 2018 at 11:05 PM ^
I am most likely remembering his issue incorrectly but, if it's a cyst with fluid around it and all they do is drain the fluid...Why don't they take the cyst out? Maybe that will do us all a favor and give him permo memory loss, like a lobotomy
November 19th, 2018 at 12:19 AM ^
I'm no doctor, but I've heard of people having shunts put in to drain fluids from the head. I wonder why they couldn't do something similar to let the cyst drain.
November 19th, 2018 at 12:22 AM ^
Memory loss? Thought he already had that.
November 19th, 2018 at 6:20 AM ^
Underrated comment ???
November 18th, 2018 at 11:06 PM ^
He looks disinterested more than anything. I think he wants out. Health is a perfect cover. He knows he can land on his feet somewhere. Probably somewhere like USC. He may take a year off to "recover".
November 18th, 2018 at 11:21 PM ^
As the saying goes - when the going gets tough, Urban gets going
November 18th, 2018 at 11:23 PM ^
Is he really gonna do this again, seriously?
November 19th, 2018 at 12:21 AM ^
Clay Helton holds onto his job for one more season. Meyer steps down after this season "for health." Helton is fired in a year, and Meyer is conveniently available to take the job after that.
November 18th, 2018 at 11:13 PM ^
With luck this Saturday will push him to do the right thing for health and family--move on.
November 18th, 2018 at 11:13 PM ^
I am one to usually give the benefit of the doubt to someone with health issues, but his reactions are so over the top on the sideline IMO. Hard to believe it’s a genuine reaction when I’ve never seen him quite act this way. Feel like he’s just setting everyone up for his departure in the offseason.
November 18th, 2018 at 11:13 PM ^
I work with a guy who is extremely close friends with Urban and he says Urban is retiring after this season. He said the Zach Smith thing really shook Urban and the pressure is taking a toll on him.
November 18th, 2018 at 11:45 PM ^
"shook" as in oh god I have to be accountable
November 19th, 2018 at 12:09 AM ^
Please elaborate. What else does your source say?
November 18th, 2018 at 11:14 PM ^
Could be Urban hasn't figured out how to remove Zach Smith's butt plug.
November 18th, 2018 at 11:18 PM ^
It's all an act, a ploy for sympathy and a preemptive excuse for the coming humiliation.
Michigan 42 - Ohio State 24

He did look stressed out in the last bit of that Maryland game. I want that times ten next week. What a great way to end his career. A loss to Michigan.
