2019 KS ATH Amauri Pesek-Hickson, now a composite three-star after being unranked just two weeks ago, played football his freshman season, then focused exclusively on basketball his sophomore and junior years. A return to football as a senior saw him pick up a Michigan offer earlier this month after they saw an athlete they liked on film; he immediately set an official visit for December 8th. With the news this week that he would be on campus today for an unofficial, this was more a matter of when, not if.
247's Allen Trieu watched Pesek-Hickson's basketball and football tape and saw a player with positional versatility.
Whenever kids come over from another sport, you wonder about physicality, but he runs with strength and physicality on offense and shows a willingness to put his face on ball-carriers.
Size, check. Athleticism, check. Physicality, check.
Trieu says that he's likely going to be a Viper, though he might get a look at running back; he played both safety and running back in high school. Full Hello post forthcoming.

Nice...very nicely put together athletic specimen. I wonder where he will end up-position wise.

What if we just hold off with guys like this until after all the five stars decide?

I am confident there will be room for a five star when the time comes.

I'd like to hear an insider here find out what position hes being eyed for... I mean, Trieu says viper, but that seems odd when he hasn't really played LB.

I don't think it seems odd at all. All the vipers that have played for Don Brown have played safety in high school.
Even if that wasn't the case, it's hardly unusual for a high school safety to make the transition to linebacker, especially a hybrid linebacker like the viper. Guys move down all the time.

You are correct. And look at the physique of this kid...screams of lower body strength and explosiveness. He may be a project from a positional perspective but from an athletic one the arrows are all pointing up. I would love to see a big, strong and fast kid like this playing the viper but, OMG, would the back end of the defense be something else with him playing alongside Hill at safety!!!

What HS LBs have we recruited to play Viper?
I can't think of any. Everyone who has played the position so far has been a DB. I believe that's what Brown did at BC as well.

First Kansas recruit since ... help me out here?

We had a terrific punter about 30 years ago from Kansas: Monte Robbins. He holds the M record for longest punt (82 yds) and highest season avg (45, probably to be broken this year). If this guy can be half as good, it will be another brilliant recruiting job by the Harbaugh staff. It is interesting to witness the disparate locations where recruits are found by the M staff these days, and very few from Michigan itself.
