November 18th, 2018 at 2:57 AM ^
You are a sour and soft fucking fan.
November 18th, 2018 at 9:55 AM ^
I’m soft? Ok internet tough guy. How can I be harder like you?
November 17th, 2018 at 7:53 PM ^
Harbuagh pulled a Frames at the end of the first half
:(
November 17th, 2018 at 8:07 PM ^
I'd blame it more on the IU lineman who kicked the ball out of the refs hands, and then said ref didn't flag him. Perfectly epitomizes what we are fucking pissed about.
November 17th, 2018 at 8:57 PM ^
Maybe we score, maybe we don't, but Michigan was within a coupe of yards of the goal line and had time for another play. Score there and the second half has a different complexion.
November 17th, 2018 at 10:08 PM ^
Very true. But I simply don't understand not throwing it either to the endzone or clocking it when there were ~14 seconds left. Don't even give the opportunity for something stupid (or illegal, which did happen) come in play. Take out that variable by not being tackled in bounds
November 18th, 2018 at 6:17 AM ^
Yep. Smart people avoid things that might happen 1-in-a-thousand times. That's why scientists avoid going out in a storm -- lightning may hit! Its why you and I avoid investing in stocks -- it may crash!
Or maybe, people discount the odds of a 1/1000 event.
November 18th, 2018 at 7:55 AM ^
It is actually foolish to avoid investing in stocks - even more so if you are younger.
You don't want to be day trading in and out of penny stocks for companies you have never heard of before, but it makes sense to responsibly invest in stocks so you can get compound growth that will beat inflation.
November 18th, 2018 at 7:51 AM ^
We should not count on officials to make correct calls.
November 17th, 2018 at 10:10 PM ^
Exactly. And, wolverineswire staff was in the perfect spot to see this.
November 17th, 2018 at 10:42 PM ^
And McKeon not handing it to the ref in the first place.
November 17th, 2018 at 11:17 PM ^
The lineman's move should have been penalized.
But Michigan got tackled in-bounds with less than 15 seconds to go in the half. At that point, getting off another play is luck. Michigan's mistake was calling a play that opened the possibility of the player failing to exit the field of play. A tackle, a stumble, whatever: It was a throw that had a risk attached to it.
November 18th, 2018 at 3:53 AM ^
the coaching ineptitude started way before the final play.
1. after the gentry huge gain. clocked was stopped with 1 min to play. 2 IU injured players forced a tv TO. JH had plenty of time to call two plays there.
2. the ball was actually snapped at 48 sec. more than 12 wasted sec there. a run up the gut for 5 yards. i have no problem with that call. but to run it again on 2nd down and burn the final TO was totally stupid.
3. Next we plunge up the gut for the first down but we have a bunch of TEs and RBs on the field; none of the wideouts. This is where burning that TO hurts.
4. We then throw the McKeon pass and time runs out. hell, spike the ball after the first down and get the wideouts in there.
How in the hell do you have 4 plays inside the 15 yard line and throw no passes in the endzone? Further, how in the hell don't you have you playmakers (collings, DPJ, Black) on the field. To complain about the couple lost seconds on the ball placement for the final play, ignores all the incompetence shown above.
November 18th, 2018 at 6:28 AM ^
In addition to your point #1 and why Fuck Indiana...those guys laying on the field weren't even in on the tackle. They ran down there and then fell down obviously instructed by their coaches to do so. Only one of them was supposed to do it, but they both did. That was THE most obvious fake injury to stop the clock shit I have ever seen.
November 18th, 2018 at 11:40 AM ^
agree. we were wondering what the hell happened to those defenders. but i think it allowed us to regroup and set up some plays. unfortunately, those plays calls were terrible.
November 18th, 2018 at 7:35 AM ^
This. That whole sequence was just infuriating. And it cost the team a minimum of 3 points, and likely 7.
November 17th, 2018 at 8:37 PM ^
McKeon also turned back to his left side (inside) after he caught the ball. If he stays on his path he may have gotten tackled out of bounds. It looked like the play was there for the TD but the LB did make a nice play. Coaching takes most of the fault on this one as that ball needs to be thrown in the end zone.
November 17th, 2018 at 7:54 PM ^
JH failing to develop a better set of reliable red zone pass plays is a huge problem.
D. Brown better think about two to better defend some the plays that worked for IU today because OSU will use them in 7 days.
Best coaching decision of the day by JH: Going with Moody over Nordin (who was great last year, but inconsistent this year).
November 17th, 2018 at 8:14 PM ^
I think we’ll see a shit-load of Tate Martell next week.
November 17th, 2018 at 8:36 PM ^
Nope. We wont. They took him out after a fasle start moved them from the 3yl to the 8, but sure, they will let him get 20< snaps in a rivalry game. No.
November 18th, 2018 at 6:32 AM ^
I can only hope we see a shit-load of Tate Martell next week.
November 17th, 2018 at 11:30 PM ^
My hope on the RZ stuff is that we kept it vanilla and have got a good 8-10 RZ/4th down plays that we’ve got down 100% solid and salted for OSU.
November 18th, 2018 at 1:35 AM ^
You think they kept offensive stuff in their pockets, but allowed Patterson to run and take hits? I did not like seeing the runs in traffic, but they saved our butts a couple times.
November 18th, 2018 at 3:57 AM ^
i think nordin was hurt. he was dressed but he wasn't doing any practice kicking before the game or during halftime. even backups practice before the game. so i'm guessing he was an injury scratch. that said, i was ready for a change anyway.
November 18th, 2018 at 7:22 AM ^
May be correct — he made at least one simulated attempt long before the game (they showed a clip of it during the game broadcast) that did not look good — could definitely be an injury. He tried to go, but couldn’t.
November 18th, 2018 at 9:47 AM ^
if an injury has been causing all those knuckle kicks, he's had it all year.
November 17th, 2018 at 7:54 PM ^
I really, really, really hope they've been doing a crapload of OSU prep these past two weeks and that would explain the last two meh performances.
November 18th, 2018 at 12:42 AM ^
I mean, Michigan started roatating players in pretty early in both games. Seems like there is a good chance they wanted to just get the win and move on.
November 17th, 2018 at 7:55 PM ^
That was some really sad clock management at the end of the first half. I expect better from this staff. But the offense, defense and coaches all have things to work on this week. That’s probably good.
November 17th, 2018 at 8:38 PM ^
I upvoted you and I agree this game was an eye opener and our coaches and players need to bring it up a notch or two between now and Saturday. I'm still confident.
If we had finished half of those drives with touchdowns vice field goals this is a laugher. We left a lot of points on the field today, not a typical game for us, especially at home. I was hoping Milton would be running for touchdowns in the second half, instead this felt a lot like a Michigan State game to me.
Thankfully, I think OSU has a lot more to work on than we do. Like you said, we needed this game to focus our attention and I'm glad we got the W. Onward. (Best for Chase, Edwards and the others injured on the field today.)
November 17th, 2018 at 9:47 PM ^
This is the 2nd or 3rd game we hVe had poor clock management this year. It's become the norm.
November 18th, 2018 at 12:01 AM ^
Yeah. Poor clock management at the end of a half isn't something new for this staff.
November 17th, 2018 at 10:56 PM ^
The offense doesn't seem to be able to operate outside of the slow, grind-it-out, ball control mode. I'm worried that if they are not playing from the lead or within one score that it would be hard for them to dig out or "turn it on".
November 17th, 2018 at 7:55 PM ^
Whoever has control of the red zone offense needs to lose that control for the rest of the year.
November 17th, 2018 at 7:57 PM ^
fuck john oneil
November 17th, 2018 at 7:57 PM ^
No doubt it was a conservative plan, but a bit too close for me. Win is a win though. Best coaching decision may have been the one to switch kickers. Big time call this late in the year that paid off for at least this game.
November 17th, 2018 at 8:41 PM ^
No doubt that was huge. I hope Nordin kicks the yips, but the freshman looked great tonight. The kicking game is no longer a concern for us.
November 18th, 2018 at 6:38 AM ^
His long was 33. We don't yet if he can consistently get it done beyond 40.
November 18th, 2018 at 7:48 AM ^
While I certainly understand your point, I've said on a few occasions that I would trade a big leg with wild inconsistencies for a guy that was money from 40 yards and in. Sounds like Moody has a big enough leg, as he made a 57-58 yarder in HS.
November 18th, 2018 at 8:24 AM ^
High school kickers can use a tee though, so no necessarily indicative.
Still, if Moody can consistently make the shorter kicks--as he showed last night--that's huge. Even if his distance is limited we can still bring in Nordin if we need to attempt a 55-yarder or something.
November 17th, 2018 at 7:57 PM ^
Seems like all the things Brown fixed in the offseason all of a sudden got unfixed. Hopefully, it's just a brief, momentary relapse that gets fixed soon.
Red zone play calling was... not great. Still, had at least two easy TDs missed by uncharacteristically inaccurate throws by Shea.
November 17th, 2018 at 10:58 PM ^
I didn't think the red zone play calling was that bad. Shea either missed easy throws to open guys (Gentry and McKeon), or he didn't see wide open RB's on wheel routes and what not.
November 17th, 2018 at 7:58 PM ^
I hope Braylon finds him...
November 17th, 2018 at 8:03 PM ^
Yup. Break a foot off in that ass.
November 17th, 2018 at 8:27 PM ^
is this assault? because I hope it is
