Better Defense: Football or Basketball?

Apples and oranges, obviously. But hot damn, that was fun to watch! Villanova was the #3 offense according to kenpom coming into this game. Absolutely suffocating them, holding them to 46 points at their own house was something to watch.

Going to be a fun year. Beat George Washington!

We have to sell out every Big Ten home game. This team deserves to play in front of sellouts. So don’t be a sellout and bring your ass to Crisler! I’ll be there!

Great topic, I don’t know!  Gotta go with Don Brown but there ain’t a whole lot of great defenses in basketball like Michigan

This is an interesting question though.

M's football defense right now is ranked 2nd in S&P+ at 11.6 (which is an opponent adjusted scoring average) behind Clemson which has an 11.0 rating.

Michigan's bball defense is ranked 3rd in kenpom at 87.9 adjusted points allowed per 100 possessions and the number 1 team UVA (shocker) is allowing 87.4 adjusted points per 100. I think M's bball rating is still being held back by preseason expectations that are baked into the formula.  This bball team could legitimately have a historical defense (at least, for Michigan, maybe not all of CBB).  I'm not sure there there's anything they can't defend.

One thing is for certain, they're both absurd.  It's great...to be...a Michigan Wolverine!
