Better Defense: Football or Basketball?
Apples and oranges, obviously. But hot damn, that was fun to watch! Villanova was the #3 offense according to kenpom coming into this game. Absolutely suffocating them, holding them to 46 points at their own house was something to watch.
Going to be a fun year. Beat George Washington!

Indeed

Well, Don Brown's guys don't let the offense score as often, but then again Simpson has never given up more than 31 yards in one play.

As Jim MF Harbaugh says, never compare, because something always get diminished when you do.
Both are outstanding, enjoy the ride.

Agreed!

We have to sell out every Big Ten home game. This team deserves to play in front of sellouts. So don’t be a sellout and bring your ass to Crisler! I’ll be there!

The answer is Basketball.
Basketball wins titles and hangs banners.
Your move Football.

Totally agree - atmosphere can make a huge difference in college hoops. If Crisler is rockin for UNC, Purdue, and Indiana, it would be huge for this team which, although dominant tonight, is still finding out who they are.

Yes for sure!

Not sure I've ever seen such a complete depantsing of a top 10 team in their own house like M just did to Nova.
Pushed their poop back in on both ends in the 1st half

then did a Dirty Sanchez in the 2nd

WOW
It's great to be

A MICHIGAN WOLVERINE!!
November 14th, 2018 at 9:46 PM ^
Our defense is overrated. Nova played with a banged up starting QB tonight.
November 14th, 2018 at 11:18 PM ^
I see what you did there
November 14th, 2018 at 9:49 PM ^
Great topic, I don’t know! Gotta go with Don Brown but there ain’t a whole lot of great defenses in basketball like Michigan
November 14th, 2018 at 10:01 PM ^
Isnt it GREAT TO BE A MICHIGAN WOLVERINE!!!
November 15th, 2018 at 7:29 AM ^
Who's got it better than us?

This is an interesting question though.
M's football defense right now is ranked 2nd in S&P+ at 11.6 (which is an opponent adjusted scoring average) behind Clemson which has an 11.0 rating.
Michigan's bball defense is ranked 3rd in kenpom at 87.9 adjusted points allowed per 100 possessions and the number 1 team UVA (shocker) is allowing 87.4 adjusted points per 100. I think M's bball rating is still being held back by preseason expectations that are baked into the formula. This bball team could legitimately have a historical defense (at least, for Michigan, maybe not all of CBB). I'm not sure there there's anything they can't defend.
One thing is for certain, they're both absurd. It's great...to be...a Michigan Wolverine!

I'll let you know in April. But it's currently a tie in my book

Better Defense: Football or Basketball?
Yes, absolutely. That is the correct answer.

Rumor has it, Don Brown Coaches Both Defenses... As well as the Baseball Team.
