OT - Places to hang out and watch CFB after the PSU game?

Submitted by Cereal Killer on October 30th, 2018 at 2:14 PM

I apologize, because I know some on the board hate these kinds of OT posts.  But I'm gonna risk the wrath.  It's about 4 hours each way to AA from where we live in Cincinnati.  For anything other than a noon start, we knock off an hour of the drive by driving down and staying in Maumee, and drive home the next morning.  This Saturday, we'd like to hang around AA after the game and watch Alabama-LSU before heading to Maumee.  My son is 18, so bars are a no go.  Any suggestions on a casual place to go?  I think there's a BDubs near Briarwood, but we'd like to stay around campus/downtown if possible.   Thanks.

There's a BW3 on campus as well.  Pizza House is a nice family friendly restaurant a block off of campus.  There's also numerous restaurants in downtown Ann Arbor (Main Street).

Yes, I think Pizza House is what you are looking for.  Family friendly; lots of TV with a wide array of games shown; they don't tend to chase people off for occupying tables for a long period.  Getting one of those tables in the first place might be challenging.  But once you've got one, I think you'll be happy with the choice.

Walk over to the golf course (AAGO preferably) and have a beer!!! By 9:00 at night, everyone will be good and toasted. There are some "advanced drinkers" over there too. Good times...

Fraser's would probably be fine for your kid...it's a neighborhood bar but doesn't get too crazy. Better than BDubs, anyway. As others have mentioned, Pizza House is a good bet for family and plenty of TV's.

Don't know about the age thing, but the BDubs by the mall has been kind of boring the last 2 times that I went there and most campus bars aren't too busy after a game, but since it's a Sat night they might be.

I'd try Charlies or the Jug or more of a "restaurant" than bar.

I don't know how it will be after a game, but Grizzly Peak sounds like it'd work for you, and to a lesser extent Pretzel Bell. Both have better food than BWW, have plenty of TVs, and shouldn't be too crazy. Should be fine for an 18 year old. Grizzly Peak has better food than Pretzel Bell does, in my opinion, but they're both solid, and aren't soulless chains. Both are on the Main Street side of downtown, though.

My new favorite is the Pretzel Bell. Decent food and a fun atmosphere downstairs if it's not too crowded. They have a little grotto area down there too that I've found strangely unoccupied (b/c it looks like a private room, maybe?) where you can have two TVs right in front of you also. I walked right there after the game I went to last year and there were plenty of tables available.

After the SMU game when with non-bar age kids, we hung out on the golf course for an hour or so and then had dinner at Buddy’s Pizza on Ann Arbor Saline near Meijers.

Not being from Detroit, I wasn’t familiar with the chain, but I guess it’s a SE Michigan staple. Our group was pleasantly surprised with the food/value and they had a ton of TVs.

Place appeared to be pretty crowded when we arrived, but were able to get a table with minimal wait.

Revel and Roll. It’s a bar/arcade/bowling alley hybrid right by the stadium and they literally have screens that are the size of entire walls with CFB on all of them. The food is good, but the bowling is overpriced.
