Joel Klatt Talks Michigan, Meyer, CFP & More w/Rich Eisen

Excellent 15 minute video with Joel and Rich.  I found his stance on the CFP most interesting.

Video sucks.  Do people really let video's run whenever they pop up?  With audio?  I have my wife sharing the living room as I read this, with the TV on.  Running video/audio doesn't work.  I was hoping there would be a writeup...

Except it then takes 15 minutes to read. And, for what it’s worth, I didn’t say transcription, but rather summary. Not the same thing.

The standard practice here is to do just what he asked for (albeit not in the way that he asked) and summarize the contents. If you disagree, consider that the coaches and player pressers are transcribed here, by the actual contributors to the site, not posted as videos. And almost every time an audio or video link is posted as a board topic it includes a summary/write up. What was asked was NOT unreasonable.

You do realize that the point was not reading for fifteen minutes, but rather taking fifteen minutes to read something that should take five minutes to read, right? Beyond obvious point: it takes longer to read something that you have to wait for the closed captions to come up on, as the words are spoken, than it would if you were reading it as intact text.

I’m not sure I would say “wasted” if it makes a point. That said, it’s easier to type out some sentences between doing other things than sitting and watching fifteen minutes straight of something. I do realize it may sound absurd to some, but for many the idea of sitting and watching something that long in a single block, without pre-allocation of that time, isn’t a thing that happens in life anymore. At fifteen minutes it clocks in just a bit shorter than a thirty minute sitcom without commercials (or watching it on a DVR), and there is plenty out there about how much viewing habits of even those is down...

No shit.  I sure do wish Apple would invent something I could put in or over my ears so I didn’t have to bother other people with what I’m listening to. Also, how lazy can people possibly be to not transcribe the video conversation as to not not bother your wife?  I mean, whatever happened to common courtesy?  Rude

So much angst!  Not sure why this triggered so many people, but whatever.  Maybe I'm just one of the few people left that doesn't headphone all day long for the 2 minute videos from CNN or Fox (or whatever your news preference is) to get filled in on the world?

I listened to it this morning while driving into work.

Summary: Klatt is a good guest, loved that whole scene between M and MSU - said it was what college football is all about, and the pro game is not as fun.  Said Michigan is the best team in the B1G and that OSU has holes.  Also said he likes only conference champs for a 4-team playoff, 8 teams would be too much.

Triggered and angst? Dude you got triggered because a post wasn't specifically designed to perfectly fit your current situation.

You could read captions.....waaaah but I don't wanna

You could use head phones....waaah I'm not some zombie millennial

Sounds like wifey rules with an iron fist and you want the world to adjust accordingly for your comfort

Settle down, Wally, you're stressing yourself out over nothing.  Of course I want the world to change for my comfort - so does everybody!  Duh!!  But jeez, I asked a couple of questions, and said this: "I was hoping there would be a writeup..."

Sorry that you (and some others) got so worked up about that - but you read what you wanted to read, not what was actually written.  Your personal attack is pretty sad...

Klatt referenced the Higdon phantom holding penalty again during the MSU podcast.  Is there any chance we get him for the OSU game?  Would love to have someone who will actually call it out if OSU ends up with two penalties for four yards again.

I'm curious if Fox last Saturday had all those heavy leaned in-game promos of MSU and highlighting LJ Scott's career stats and their "5 star heart" players was to try and balance out that it is known that Klatt (and Gus Johnson for that matter to extent) seeming to like Michigan, especially with Klatt on the Herd earlier in the week pumping up Michigan.

This a great segment from 2 absolute professionals.  Intelligent, Warm, Passionate, Funny, most of which would be lost by reading a transcription or summary of any kind,

Very true on all accounts. You know what a summary does more effectively than its lack thereof, though? Make someone actually want to allocate fifteen minutes to listening to it (rather than the myriad of other things that need reading or listening to).

I honestly don’t get why that is an unreasonable ask when pretty much every other post here of its type includes that, and if it doesn’t is extensively criticized.

Did you watch the video?

It's 15 min long and pretty fast paced.  Thats what, 20-30 pages of text.  The summary could be 3-4 words or 3-4 fucking paragraphs.

Summarize?  Sure just like the tile says, it's Joel Klatt . . . talking to Rich Eisen. They talk about . . . wait for it. . . . Michigan . . . Meyer . . . .CFP . . . . . & More.

Thats a pretty exact summary without getting into the species of every topic and each individual's take on each topic.

You know what makes someone want to watch a video even more than a summary?

A RECOMMENDATION to watch it!

thats why we live on a farm.  we're in nearly the identical boat as JHumich, but we raise and process our own beef, chicken, lamb, eggs, some crops and fruit, etc.  last cattle harvest is in 5 days.

Love that text, XM, thank you! Ps 128 too--joy that too few know.

I'm so thankful for my children. They are an amazing group of joyful, diligent, enthusiastic, respectful people. Humble, love to serve, love to laugh. Whatever else I might have done with my life could never be compared to what will come from the eight of them and the families that come from them.
