Former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Praises UM Work Ethic
Not sure how to take this. Pretty weird that he appears to be a fan of the team!
Watched highlights of the @UMichFootball and @MSU_Football great effort by both teams; as always a hard work ethic pays off. pic.twitter.com/p9XnUlwkwU

Sounds like someone's angling for Ace's job til he gets back. How's his pronunciation of Polynesian names?

Get bent, you Holocaust-denying piece of shit. I hate that this is a thing now.

agreed but he might know where/how to watch the game in tehran......

I'm just so confused. That (Taiwanese?) anime game recap video from some years back was weird, but that was like a news outlet thing. This is apparently a former world leader, from the other side of the globe and who seemed to hate the US, commenting on an in-state (American) football rivalry. Makes no sense whatsoever.
Maybe Harbaugh is going to the Iranian version of Dennis Rodman to Kim Jong-un? /s (but I'm so confused only sorta /s)

I want to describe how this happened, but I guess I realize any replies are going to get political (so please don't do that).
It seems, tracing it back, that it started with Ahmadinejad tweeting support to Colin Kaepernick. A while after that, Kaepernick either tweeted appreciation for Harbaugh as a coach or somebody sent a tweet linking the two of them together; I'm not sure which. So somehow Ahmadinejad seems to have correlated support for Kaepernick and support for Harbaugh's current team.
So...that's how this started. No politics.

As Alton said, it is connected to Kaepernick. Ahmadineshit, and the Ayatollah and Iranian pols at large, has been taking a page out of the Russian playbook and tweeting about things that divide Americans, like Colin Kaepernick's protests.
Mahmoud recently took to twitter to talk about Kaepernick. Someone (strangely) tweeted back to Ahmadinejad about Michigan for some reason, and he replied and now he's talking about us.

Whoever is running his account (probably an intern) clearly knows a fair bit about American cultures: he tweeted Tupac lyrics on the anniversary of the founding of the Black Panthers or something like that. I'd bet that whoever is actually tweeting spent some time in the US, maybe did a college degree or something here.
Plus, of course, the Michigan Team watched 300 last week and just beat up on the Spartans...so....well, you can do the math.

Also this fuckwad was one of the captors when they took hostages at the American embassy in 1979.

Maybe even he realizes how awful MSU is?

Dantonio or Meyer?

Or maybe Nick?

I would guess he's just shifting into his post political university career and trying to gain some street cred with one of the world's greatest universities.

I don't know how to react other than to laugh at the absurdity of it all.

I'm sure the CIA has people working on it. I'm with you though: this is hilarious.

lol @ Brian telling him to come on his podcast. I did notice he is friends with el presidente of Bolivia...maybe for the worst offenders instead of Bolivia we can send them to Iran
October 21st, 2018 at 3:25 PM ^
Iran will actually physically arrest and torture them if they rub the local authorities the wrong way, so I’m not in favor of that.
October 21st, 2018 at 3:29 PM ^
I am. I have a list . . .
October 21st, 2018 at 3:33 PM ^
But what does John Reschkkke think of this?

Where's the football team going next year? Hmmm, maybe he's lobbying...

I don't know.. that's kinda like getting praise from Hitler, Stalin, or Mao. You say "thanks" with a nod and a quick step away from the fellow.

This could be very entertaining if it were coming from some other former foreign leader. But this person needs to focus elsewhere. Reading a history of Europe during WWII might be a good choice.
