Report on 97.1: Gary Expected to Play Tomorrow

Submitted by BursleyHall82 on October 19th, 2018 at 7:57 PM

Dennis Fithian is saying on 97.1 that he hears from his sources that Rashan Gary is expected to play tomorrow, likely in limited minutes. He's not the kind of guy who rushes to the air with information unless his sources are good, so I'd put confidence in this as pretty high.

He kept referring to it as a "Willis Reed situation," without explaining what that meant. I'm assuming he's referring to Reed playing in the 1970 NBA Finals with a thigh injury, when he wasn't expected to play.

Fithian also said his sources say Tarik Black won't play tomorrow, but probably will against Penn State. Take it all for what it's worth.

God I hope he's right. Sam posted a cryptic post about a half hour ago on 247 so I was thinking the opposite. Right now I know just as much as I did an hour ago.  Though your information is more positive and therefore more accurate.

Haha, I actually asked Rashan about that, I think it was last year. I said I wanted to see him do it, would he want to try that or Fridge style short yardage back or TE? He laughed at wildcat but said he'd do tight end!

I have to believe that if he's able to contribute in any meaningful way without permanently injuring himself, Gary will.play.

He really did not like losing to MSU last year.

That’s basically the story. Reed tore a muscle in his thigh and missed Game 6 of the finals. He was not expected to play in Game 7, but he trotted (limped?) out during warmups, and the crowd went crazy. He made the Knicks’ first two baskets, but that was it. However, the emotional lift was credited with the Knicks’ victory.

I used to Seemed to love listening to Dennis "Fat Rack" Fithian when he was on WTKA in Ann Arbor.  Seemed to be pretty well plugged into the Michigan football and basketball programs.

This is what has to be scary for the rest of the Big10.. as great as we looked against Wisconsin, and all the praise the team has been getting.. we still were missing one of our best defensive players ( Gary ) and offensive players ( Black ) imagine getting both those guys back at full speed before this season is over. Go Blue!

My confidence is sky high right now. So much so, I don't think Gary needs to play for Michigan to win. Going off absolutely nothing, I think he personally wants a few snaps because this will be his last MSU game before going to the League.

The good news for rashan is he will have another week to get healthy because he fortunately won't be needed tomorrow. This one's gonna be controlled from the outset by the good guys and msu doesn't stand a chance.

I am 100% certain he is not playing tomorrow.  These sources are not true.  Family friend here, he didnt make the trip.  Doesn't matter though...Go Blue....also Tarik Black will see the field tomorrow.  Limited snaps, but he's gonna be out there.

that's exactly what someone who knows he is making the trip would say! Because iocane comes from Australia, as everyone knows, and Australia is entirely peopled with criminals, and criminals are used to having people not trust them, as you are not trusted by me, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you and that Gary is playing!

I saw someone on Twitter talking about the chat sports dbag saying that black will 100% play in this game. I don’t believe anything that dude says but anyone hear any updates on black? There were rumblings last week
