Ouch, that hurts depth. Thought he was gonna be a stud at LB under Brown. Kick in the crotch after the Gary news.

Played on special teams, and as much as I don’t want to think it could happen, any 2 of those 4 you listed could get dinged up at any time. Now it’s a probably a walk on in his place, which is what we don’t want at the end of the season with our biggest games in front of us.

Furbush and Uche could play more snaps. I would be a bit surprised if Singleton would have been used ahead of them.

A 3rd/4th string player at a position with some flexibility to move people around hardly seems like something to worry about now. Maybe for 2020.

"...he decided not to fight his way out?"

This is a shitty piece of guessing, and you should feel bad.  You basically just said the guy has no heart.  He came back from an ACL tear and got on the field this year, he can fight just fine.

Instead of offering up a bunch of unsubstantiated, crappy hawt takes, how about we just wish him well for the future?

My intent was not to question his heart. It might have been a perfectly rational decision.

It really depends on the severity of JH’s doghouse and whether the reward is worth the fight. If JH told him that he would likely not see even ST play the rest of this year, maybe he decided the upside was greater elsewhere. These guys work incredibly hard and sacrifice so much, I don’t blame them for wanting quality time.

I thought Drew had incredible potential and would push to start next year, so surprised about his exit.

UmBig11 has lost almost all of his credibility. Around this time last week he said Gary would play against Wisconsin and Dwumfour would not. He has no credible info, he has a bone to pick with the coaching staff, he doesn't have shit. He's someone that used to be an insider that is no longer reliable. I used to be a big fan, but he really lost me in the last few weeks. If UmBig11 says Gary is out for the year, he'll be back before then.

Damn. Thought he could have been a stud as soon as next season. This is college football these days I guess.

I thought he was going to be a stud as well.

That being said, it isn't the worst thing in the world to have best-in-class players transfering out due to not being able to see the field.

It's a a good "problem" to have.

Wish him the best of luck and will be rooting for him!

He was the LB in his class I was most excited for. Really surprised, but at the same time he's third string and behind guys in his own class. This is the limited downside to taking loaded classes at a single position.

Sad to see him go. Wish him the best.

I don’t remember him playing much this year but didnt Harbaugh absolutely rip him a new one on special teams a few weeks ago for a personal foul penalty?

pretty sure it was him who Harbaugh chewed out a few weeks ago on sideline on TV after that pointless personal foul on special teams

It's a bummer, but I kind of get it. If you really want to play, and you're stuck behind two guys who are in all likelihood not going anywhere themselves, and who will continue to get most of the snaps, maybe you go somewhere else where you are going to see the field. The days of solid players being buried down the depth chart are probably over for the most part. It is the world we live in.

The other thing I had wondered about was how we were going to fit all the incoming recruits. Now I see the answer. The reality is that between guys graduating, potentially entering the NFL early, getting a firm handshake (no 5th year), and transferring, we are going to need every last recruit they have accepted a commitment from in 2019.

First the news about Rashan Gary; now the news about Drew Singleton.  Not a great day for the Paramus (NJ) Catholic HS pipeline to the Michigan Wolverines football program.

Yea, I mean what did that peppers guy ever do for us?  Oh, Heisman finalist?  I guess that was okay.

But that JBB guy?  Oh, our starting tackle who is showing great improvement?

But what about that Dwumfor guy?  Oh, good rotational playmaker on the DL.

Yes, what a bust recruiting these NJ guys.

Damn that sucks. He was really highly rated recruit if I remember. When guys in his class were playing before him though I knew it was a bad sign. Good luck to the kid
