1. Offense

Denard blessed the Michigan quarterbacks so they ran for 138 yards and 2 TDs. Shea's keepers. Bless Ed Warinner. Bless your heart, Shea's vision in this game. Where was Bench Mason? A few too many "We did A, next comes B." Other goofy stuff: Joe Milton package, McCaffrey as a WR. Second half they finally learned to throw. JBB didn't allow any pressure, was grinding.
2. Defense

Got pushed around by Wisconsin's big boys, managed to hang in there, though that was in part thanks to SIX(!!) carries by Jonathan Taylor. What does Chase Winovich have to do to generate a holding call? Yes this is the chart thing everyone's been talking about. Critical INT thanks to trap coverage. Hornibrook had one completion for over two quarters. Watson almost got the same INT as last week. M had a hard time with those jet sweeps. Got Randy Rivers moving around, which nerfs his accuracy.
3. What Are You Doing Turtle?

So many bad decisions. Everything after the give-up punt is sad scoring. In the first half he forgot running the clock down was a thing. First play of the sad touchdown drive Hornibrook was almost injured. Wisconsin couldn't keep themselves off of Cheeseman. Shutting down Wisconsin was well worth 30 yards of penalties. Somebody held up a #ThankYouAce sign.
4. Around the Big Ten with Jamie Mac

NOTE: This segment had a recording issue (Brian and David were almost completely muted) so the quality isn't up to our usual standards. I spent many hours on Sunday repairing it because we have an exciting Big Ten West race going on. March of the B1G West QBs: David Blough hammers Illinois. Thorson's arm almost went off throwing to Flynn Nagel. Frost has aged 10 years per loss. Indiana can't stop tight ends and played Iowa. Rutgers forgot to field a kickoff. 
McSorley's average weekend. Ohio State's screen-a-thon.

I totally understand some of the concerns about the playcalling and performance on both sides of the ball...but it's VERY on brand for Michigan fans to complain loudly about their team after winning a game by 25 points against a ranked opponent. It does make for a less-than-desirable start to the day.

+1000. How many of us thought we'd be in *this* position now after the ND game? Where beating all of our Rivals seems like a real possibility and a spot in the playoff is possible? After all of the years of suffering, you'd think folks would be giddy right now. I admit, I've been afraid to feel emotions this year because I'm tired of getting my soul dong kicked in. But I was giddy during the 2nd half when we pulled away.
Look, all of our rivals are showing pretty big weaknesses. Michigan isn't perfect, but it appears that we have less flaws than they do. And outside of Bama, is there a team that doesn't appear to have a significant weakness? Michigan is a really good team (#4 S&P) and you've got to find a way to enjoy the ride. If you can't, then you never will.

I know for me personally there will be a big exhale if we beat MSU. Both losses to them in the Harbaugh era were awful in themselves and never should have happened, and when you take into account the opponent I have literally been seething to inflict deep emotional pain upon that whole program and fanbase ever since last year's monsoon burlesque ended. This was then amped up by ten times when the whole rape culture was unmasked over the offseason. The football karma gods say Molest U needs an epic beatdown from their rival. Then I can relax a bit.

I have an idea for a useful feature for you guys, though I admit it would be work: do a half-time post with one or two paragraphs from select members of the mgoblog brain trust about necessary adjustments and what to look for in the second half.
I always find myself hungering for something like this as I wait out the eternity between halves. The brief comments you get from the TV crew just before play recommences don't really suffice.
Comments could include a [revised] prediction of the final score.

Would be tough to do logistically since they attend the home games in different seats (and outside the press box i.e. without computers and with the stadium's shoddy cell phone reception). Maybe doable for away games but still tough. I'd advise looking at Twitter to get your halftime adjustment fix.

Why don't we do more screens plays!!?? We do a lot of bubble screens to receivers that never seem to get going or get many yards. Evans is so shifty and they are great plays for 2nd and long. Can someone answer this for me...

It's gotten to the point where I'm 100% convinced I could successfully block Chase Winovich in a football game officiated by the B1G. I'd simply Jeff Van Gundy myself to his leg, never draw a flag, and wait for the All-B1G accolades to come rolling in.

I remember that wild Illinois game (and that wild Northwestern game which was very similar). It was a night game in Champaign and there were two fumbles/bad calls that went Michigan's way, plays that would've been overruled if there had been replay. It might have been the last time Michigan got some luck from the refs.

I’m convinced our D line will never get a holding call in their favor. It’s not just Winovich getting a bum deal. I think I saw three egregious holding non-calls in the Wisconsin game. Plays where our guy was either tackled or being strangled. Pathetic.

After having the privilege of seeing my first game of the season in person, I was struck by the receivers quitting on their quarterback. Perhaps it is the novelty of having an O-line that is only just recently giving its QB more than 1.5 seconds. But I think someone needs to tell the receivers that when the route is finished and the QB is still alive, they need to work back to the QB or otherwise do something beside loiter on the field. On a bunch of occasions I was watching Shea scrambling around trying to find someone to throw to, while the receivers were just standing there alongside a defender waiting for the whistle.

Good observation. TV never really shows that the receivers are doing while Shea runs around. At least they block when he eventually has to run.
