This does guarantee it won't be at night, though, so that is something.

(Not that I really thought that would be case after their wet fart against Northwestern)

EDIT: Props for the very informative thread title!

DOUBLE EDIT: It's at noon per Michigan Football twitter:

THIS JUST IN: The Michigan - Michigan State game (Oct. 20) will kick off at Noon ET on FOX. #GoBlue pic.twitter.com/OyQLVMQct4

Maybe LSA can edit the OP to reflect the announced kickoff time.

What's the intuition behind this? A Michigan win and MSU loss this week, both likely, would probably push the game earlier right? 6-1 vs. 3-3 doesn't seem like a primetime matchup.

The intensity and anxiety of that game is just usually so high by Saturday that, as a fan, I just want it to happen as quickly as it can, whatever it may be.  That is why I like that The Game is always noon.  Wake up, kick off, move on.  I like noon kicks twice per year, MSU and OSU.

I hope their defeat is completely without dignity this year. I hope that Harbaugh remembers that comment, and the comments from Dorktonyo after last years game ('they used 60 formations and 2 plays', or whatever it was), and runs up the score mercilessly.

#15 ranked Wisconsin is coming to the Big House, along with GameDay, and we're still talking about beating MSU.  That shit feeling runs deep...

I think we are talking about the game because the start time was announced.   There weren't any other posts aside from this one.  I think it is noteworthy because everybody expected, even after they lost to NW, that it would probably be a 3:30 or 4:30 game.  Noon is surprising.

This completely sucks from a planning perspective. I have to go to the fucking Nebraska vs Minnesota game (to be a good husband), which is also still TBD. Just let us know what time the damn games are.

So that eliminates the chance of a night game, correct?

I thought the rule was 12 day notice for night game and 6 day notice for 12:00/3:30. Im probably wrong but could've sworn ive read that

Edit- literally the first post clarifies this. dumb me

maybe someday in the future, all the games will be played in giant TV studios and they will pay to have people attend the game in person.

you would think that.  I was in EL for clockgate.  We woke up to watch the nonsense already well underway at 7AM.  At 10:30AM when we saw idiots hurling ground beef at each other we decided to head to the safe zone inside of a Subway sandwich artist destination.  That 3 hour window was the only period of my life in which I dodged beer bottles.

I was kind of wondering whether, from a public safety perspective, noon is better or worse.  On the one hand, during the daytime you can see the smoke columns rising into the air.  OTOH, the flames themselves are probably more visible at night.
