the 2019 OT recruit
Noticed Trevor Keegan visits OSU tomorrow, and then to us next weekend. Currently sits at 64% crystal ball to us, yet Wiltfong put in his for Georgia a few weeks ago and his hit rate is quite high.
Bryce Benhart doesnt appear to have scheduled an official to us, and we have no crystal balls.
Danielson Ike is CBed 100% to Miami.
Anyone wanna chime in here who we are most likely to get?
October 5th, 2018 at 12:06 PM ^
Benhart is visiting for the PSU game
October 5th, 2018 at 12:23 PM ^
Think Sam said that visit is contingent on his playoff schedule.
October 5th, 2018 at 1:18 PM ^
Highly unlikely as that is the second weekend of playoffs in Minnesota. His team is ranked #1 so unless there is a major upset or the game is scheduled for Friday night it probably won't happen. A night game might make it a little more likely depending on flight availability.

No inside information but everything I've read seems like we're a less than 50% shot at any of them as it stands today. Believe we have 3 OT in the class already (Not sure if they'll all stay at OT or maybe some tweeners that move to OG) but it would be great to add one more top caliber guys
October 5th, 2018 at 12:10 PM ^
No... we have one OT so far in Jones, and he was Drevnos' guy, not Warinner's... the other three are interior guys, and this has been our problem for a decade now... so you can imagine my concern here if Jones were to bail.. I've seen this film many times the past decade...
The next OT recruit we get is absolutely critical to the program.
October 5th, 2018 at 12:12 PM ^
Yeah i wasn't sure about the other two guys as they're more guard sized but listed at OT.
October 5th, 2018 at 12:24 PM ^
Woody Wommack at Rivals saw Jones play when Grayson took on Bergen Catholic a few weeks ago and was adamant he's a guard in college.

Couple that with Trieu's take that Barnhart is best suited for guard in college and we're looking at an OL class with five inside players if they don't land Keegan or Benhart. Hopefully it's not 2016 all over again.
October 5th, 2018 at 12:28 PM ^
Great... nothing changes... now we have three guards coming in... didn't know that about Jones.
October 5th, 2018 at 12:33 PM ^
Actually it's four. Carpenter, Jones, Barnhart, and Stewart are all projected to be guards in college by the recruiting analysts. Sounds like Rumler is ticketed for center.
October 5th, 2018 at 1:14 PM ^
Everything I've read has Jones targeted for tackle. Michigan is recruiting him to play there.
But go ahead, let's stir up the "sky is falling" mantra if we don't land Keegan or Benhart.
October 5th, 2018 at 2:58 PM ^
Unfortunately, the film of all of our guys look like future guards...maybe RTs. I hope I'm wrong.
October 5th, 2018 at 4:23 PM ^
Why not see what happens before you head for the ledge.
Except for OSU's Isaiah Prince, the majority of the preseason and current top rated OT's in the B1G were also predicted to be inside lineman by the "experts"; Ryan Bates-Penn State, David Edwards-Wisconsin. Also nationally, of PFF Top5 highest ranked OT's Dalton Risner-Kansas State, and Bobby Evans-Oklahoma were also destined for interior line.
October 5th, 2018 at 1:15 PM ^
Oh, Woody Wommack at Rivals said it. I guess it must be true.
October 5th, 2018 at 12:44 PM ^
I think we have two in Jones and Barnhart. Jones was always an OT and Barnhart may have grown an inch or two and has long arms necessary for it. Either way, none of them are immediate contributors. I think Benhart and Keegan could be that immediate contribution piece. Ultimately though, I expect Hudson and Mayfield to man the spots for the next 2 years at least, with Hayes, Steuber, Jones, Barnhart, and whomever we recruit after that providing backups.
October 5th, 2018 at 3:20 PM ^
Barnhart is a long way away from seeing any PT at UM. He plays for a school that still runs the wishbone (according to another poster), he’s never pass blocked, and the competition he plays against in high school is awful. There are not too many 180 pound DEs at Michigan so he’ll need a few years to adjust to actual football players.
October 5th, 2018 at 12:22 PM ^
No inside(check).
Seems as if(check).
This is terrible.(check)
October 5th, 2018 at 1:25 PM ^
I do have inside information, and currently I strongly believe we get Keegan. He's not a silent or anything, but I'd bet money on it.
October 5th, 2018 at 5:45 PM ^
Your user name checks out.
How much money would you bet?
October 5th, 2018 at 9:24 PM ^
Probably $100 haha. But I would say that we have a 80% chance of landing Keegan, and a 10-2 season will make it 100%. He and his family are Michigan fans or at least were before he became a big time prospect, Michigan has been in on him early and often, and there are strong ties between Warinner and the area where Keegan is from from when Ed was the OL Coach at Illinois, Notre Dame and Ohio State. He's very well respected, and honestly one of the things Jim Harbaugh probably miscalculated when he first arrived was how cliquey the midwest is in terms of connections. Drevno hadn't been west of California since 2002, and had never been in the midwest. We saw it with how poorly we recruited Michigan once Wheatley left. The ChicagoLand Area has too much talent to consistently get skunked.
There is no chance of Trevor keegan if Tim Drevno is here, there is a very good chance with Warinner.
October 5th, 2018 at 10:49 PM ^
Drevno hasn’t been west of California since 2002? C’Mon, the guy makes enough money for a trip to Hawaii every now and then right?
October 6th, 2018 at 9:44 AM ^
FUCKKKKKKK hahahahahahahahahah whoops. Other direction.
October 5th, 2018 at 12:12 PM ^
THE 2019 OT recruit will probably ending up going to THE Ohio State University.
October 5th, 2018 at 12:18 PM ^
You mean THEEEEE ohio state community college.
October 5th, 2018 at 1:34 PM ^
AN Ohio State Community College.
October 5th, 2018 at 12:14 PM ^
It's all a ruse. He's green and white all the way.
He's going to EMU.
October 5th, 2018 at 12:14 PM ^
So, is Georgia just flat out paying recruits with massive piles of cash?
October 5th, 2018 at 12:16 PM ^
Probably but its not like Michigan's recent track record of success would convince anyone even it was a straight up battle.
October 5th, 2018 at 12:21 PM ^
Wait so the ncaa said recruiting kids with hookers and blow was no longer ok, WTF?
October 5th, 2018 at 12:31 PM ^
"hostesses" and "party favors" are still fine though.
October 5th, 2018 at 12:28 PM ^
Yes.
Next question?
October 5th, 2018 at 12:36 PM ^
Right.
It's not a question.
We are laboring at a disadvantage because we do not do this (and similar things) to the extent that other programs do. They are paying their recruits six figures.
October 5th, 2018 at 1:01 PM ^
Didn't we create the offer parent a job on "staff" loop hole that was recently closed?
October 5th, 2018 at 12:31 PM ^
It seems like I'm the only one panicking.. we have three guards coming in, and Keegan is being CBed to Georgia now... this is Devery Hamilton and Isiah Wilson all over again...
October 5th, 2018 at 12:43 PM ^
How many CB's did Dax Hill have for Michigan? Fuck a crystal ball, win some games and we will get these kids.
October 5th, 2018 at 12:48 PM ^
More than Ike and Benhart do. And what's so concerning about Keegan to me is the Georgia ball from Wiltfong.
October 5th, 2018 at 1:06 PM ^
We didn't have any.
October 5th, 2018 at 2:50 PM ^
That’s plain wrong. We didn’t have a majority but we had them.
October 5th, 2018 at 5:38 PM ^
Name them. Sam even refused to put one in and he was the only saying Michigan had a shot.
October 5th, 2018 at 6:16 PM ^
Why don't you check his 247 page? The crystal balls are still there with the date they were put in. Sam put in the last crystal ball in September.
October 5th, 2018 at 6:11 PM ^
This is easily verifiable. Ace even crystal balled Hill to Michigan in July.
October 5th, 2018 at 12:45 PM ^
You are. We got two tackles last year so while only getting 1 isn't ideal its not the end of the world. I'd worry more about Wr (even with Bell's emergence) or maybe even linebacker. Or better yet, not at all.
October 5th, 2018 at 12:46 PM ^
Do you know Maizen? Here’s your Devery Hamilton. Stats vs. Notre Dame
- LAST @ND, 9/29 No stats
October 5th, 2018 at 12:58 PM ^
Not to mention Devery Hamilton was moved to guard
October 5th, 2018 at 12:58 PM ^
I hope you are the only one “panicking” about where high school kids “may” sign in several months. If more people are doing this, we have real problems.
October 5th, 2018 at 1:26 PM ^
Our 2nd stringers have both got rave reviews and are both Freshmen. We have a very good prospect from Georgia coming in this class as well as 1 or 2 more that could grow in to being tackles or are tweeners and another kid in Ryan Hayes that is redshirting this year.. You can't have 15 highly rated tackles on your roster.
We are fine.
October 5th, 2018 at 3:25 PM ^
I'll nitpick here. Hudson isn't a FR. he's a sophomore.
October 5th, 2018 at 12:51 PM ^
Ya kinda.... that and some southern belles!
October 5th, 2018 at 12:19 PM ^
This thread.
October 5th, 2018 at 12:21 PM ^
Really hoping we can land Benhart, his film is the best of the bunch IMO. He does not give interviews or talk to the media though so pretty impossible to get a read on him. He is visiting for the PSU game though so there's that.
October 5th, 2018 at 12:27 PM ^
Wiltfong said he's this years Mike McGlinchey.
