Be prepared for 2 home night games
Heard this from someone I know who has it on good authority that Michigan-Penn State will be a night game and it has been confirmed as a night game even before the season started.
I've never been one to make a thread like this but I'm calling my shot on this one and let the chips fall where they may.
This morning when the news came out about next weekend being a night game I checked with them on it and even after asking them about how there was a 2 for 1 deal with 2 night game sin 2017 in exchange for 1 in 2018, they still told me it's happening.
So prepare yourselves. Be early, be loud. For all the remaining games starting with this Saturday at Noon.

Anyone have any idea if the State game will be played at night? I was there for the last time and I believe it was a noon game but State was also crap that year.

I wondered if state would make it a night game too to give them any little advantage they can get...seems like if psu was going to be night too that would mean msu hasn’t communicated with UM that their game would be 3:30 or 4:30 latest, otherwise 3 straight night games?

Dantonio has to wait on the weather forecast before deciding the game time. His weather machine isn't 100% perfected so he needs to see the potential conditions first

Doubtful--it's scheduled for the same day as a potential NLCS Game 7. Can't see FOX risking the conflict.

I will never understand the infatuation with night games.
There is a lot of talk about how a hyped and electric atmosphere fuels the team.
Night games are fucking stupid and this program is terrible in them.
But I continue to hear otherwise.
Both Harbaugh and Brown are on record saying they prefer noon.
If night games are such a big deal, why the fuck does the schedule come out and have Ohio State locked in at noon?
If it helps amp up the crowd and fans, shouldn't that one be at night?

I'll put some of these to rest for you:
After the first weekend in November, both teams have to agree to it in order to have a night game. That's probably never happening.
The coaches may prefer noon games but they don't have control of it. This program is not terrible in night games. Maybe in road night games, but that just proves the point that having a home night game is beneficial.

I’ll be at the PSU game and driving from Grand Rapids. I don’t know that I want to drive home after a night game. Looks like all hotels are booked except for A Victory Inn & Suites, which has a few rooms. The reviews suck though. Is it really that bad? Would driving home be a better option than staying there?

There are a good amount of AirBnBs in Ann Arbor for that night, checking out the next day. Worth looking in to if you're not interested in making the drive home.

If I had my way, Penn State would kick off at 10am Eastern or so, and then we just party afterwards instead. I like that sleepwalking first half Penn State of midday, not the pounce all over your face penn state of the evening.

As I said in the last thread - devout member of Team Noon Games, but willing to sacrifice my own personal preferences to still be rowdy and make the Big House a tough place to play.
If it was my decision, it would be 80% noon, 20% 3:30, and one home night game every two years, but I accept the fact that it is not.
Can't wait to be at all three (!) of these home games talked about today. GO BLUE!

I sit with 2 ushers at Weber's every Monday and both said Wisconsin and Penn State are night games.

So this is the substantive point that I want to jump on. Is there an answer to the question, "Has Michigan actually met its contractual obligation for night games, with the scheduling of Wisconsin at night?"
I honestly don't know the answer to that. If the answer is "Yes," and the Penn State scheduling at night is being done by choice by the Michigan Athletic Department, my correspondence with the Associate Athletic Director with whom I have been corresponding on this subject is going to change in tone.
Because, yeah; the more or less official position of the AD is that "Michigan has been vocal in its opposition to night games at home." We all understand that TV contracts force us into a certain number of night games. That is the excuse, for violating the pronouncement that "Michigan is vocal in its opposition to night games." If in fact Michigan has a choice on the PSU game and is choosing a night game slot, then Warde Manuel is going to have some serious explaining to do.
Even if we are forced by contract into playing PSU at night, Warde still has a lot of questions to answer about the future of Michigan football and television. Thanks to some inexplicable and inexcusable decision in the past, we are stuck with an even-numbered-year schedule where neither MSU or OSU visit Michigan Stadium. Wisconsin and Penn State are the premium games on our home schedule. If a season ticket holder doesn't want to go to a night game and stay out until 2:00 am or so, and as a result sells their Wisconsin and Penn State tickets, they will have paid a PSD and a season ticket bill to have witnessed Western Michigan, SMU, Nebraska, Maryland and Indiana. It sounds like a schedule for Northern Illinois or Bowling Green.
But for now, I'd just like to have a straight, authoritative answer to the question of whether or not the 2018 scheduling of Penn State at night is a directive from the B1G TV contract, or if it is a choice on the part of Michigan.

Agreed. Just means colder for the fans going and a crazy late night while you try to get home after. Not to mention that I love the look of the Stadium in the daytime. Oh well, if we get the W, who cares.
