Yay or nay? The thing has grown on me ever since Ace named it.

Exactly - Michigan is quaintly different. We don't have a blizzard of advertisement inside the stadium. We don't see ads for "Mom and Pop grocery" or "Next Door Pharmacy". The pep band, cheerleaders and dance squad seem to do fine without person dressed up as a wolverine.

It makes a great spirit animal for this blog, however, and I love how the Murderwolf has been photoshopped into both real and fictional history. The picture from the Shining and as Jack Ruby were well done.

He already was our mascot. Just from an alternate timeline where the administration designed a mascot in-house in like the 1950s. He was kinda scary and rough around the edges, like all original mascots. But he was replaced by a clean and polished version in the 90s so he came here.

If by "mascot" you mean that image which all MeMes from now on will feature .....cool.

If you mean something that ends up in a Rocket Mortgage commercial, than I hope you get MurderWolv'd ;)

What is the story behind it? Is it just some student who decided to have a Wolverine costume made? Is it an alien trying to be discreet? Is it DB Cooper in disguise? I must really be out of the loop because I don't have any clue where this thing came from.

The only satisfactory mascot would be a live wolverine, which would be released from a cage onto the field before kickoff, right in front of a cat (or some other useless small animal) wearing the opposing team's jersey.

Short answer...no!

Leave him to be a cryptid and the stuff of legend....let the MurderWolv be free and do as he (she, it?) wishes and not be captive to corporate interest as is the norm to all mascots
