Beilein Presser
John Beilein held his first press conference today ahead of the team's open (at least to media) practice and was incessantly asked about his heart surgery before talking about what he saw from the team's trip abroad and the freshman.
247 has the full video and WolverinesWire has excerpts on the freshmen and an interview with X.

In all honesty, I do think the condition of Coach B's ticker has more to do with the likelihood of success for the team than the pre-season performance of any of the freshmen.

Thanks for the video.
Hope ALL will enjoy Coach B while he is at M and beyond.

Beyond? Geez man.

Yea, beyond, after he retires as b ball coach at M.
u fking hillbilly.

I'll assume you're a redneck with a name like zeke and return the sentiment.

Hope Coach B will be healthy for years to come, he's a class act and a great coach, we are lucky to have him.
I really hope he gets a championship for U-M, that man deserves a ring!
Really looking forward to this season, there will be some adjustments for the freshmen but they look good and will contribute and we have plenty of experience coming back and our teams usually get better as the season goes along, Go Blue!!!

I hope he gets a national championship too, but multiple Big Ten titles and multiple Final Fours makes him the best basketball coach in Michigan history, right?
September 26th, 2018 at 7:23 AM ^
He's the best in my opinion, and I've been an M basketball fan since the Johnny Orr days.
September 26th, 2018 at 9:24 AM ^
Yeah he already is, and hopefully will have a few more years as our coach to cement that legacy.
September 26th, 2018 at 8:43 AM ^
Well said. Coach B is the best man to run Michigan Basketball and always represents the University well.

Great to have Beilein back at work. Almost unbelievable what he has done. Looking forward to the season!
September 25th, 2018 at 8:14 PM ^
Can we all agree to not judge the team until the BTT??
September 25th, 2018 at 8:24 PM ^
That's asking an awful lot. Patience and logic are not strong suits around here. I'll only hold off until the third week of B1G play.
September 26th, 2018 at 9:25 AM ^
I'll make it til maybe the third day.
September 25th, 2018 at 9:55 PM ^
We love you Coach B! Glad to see you back healthy, and ready to attack the season! That man definitely deserves a National Championship! SUBS all around! Nov 6 isn't far off! GO BLUE!

Maizen thinks Beilein should have had at least a quadruple bypass instead of settling for a low-ranked double bypass.

Underrated comment.

It still hasn’t sunk in to me that we were in the national title game last year. What an insane run they had
September 26th, 2018 at 11:26 AM ^
It's hard to appreciate what's going on while it's happening. There's a lot going on during those March Madness weekend. I had the same feeling for quite a while after the Louisville Final Four.

Sounds like Iggy will be the backup wing to Matthews and Poole and Johns will see some time at the four and I bet the five for small ball lineups (or Livers at the five with Johns/Iggy at the four).
My completely wild-ass-guess at minutes as things settle in for the team based on these Beilein comments:
PG: Z 32/Brooks 8
SG: Poole 32/Braz 8
SF: Matthews 32/Braz 8
PF: Livers 25/Johns 10/Braz 5
C: Teske 25/Davis 8/Johns 7
DeJulius could cut into Brooks' minutes but doesn't sound like Nunez or Castleton are ready which isn't a surprise.
September 26th, 2018 at 2:41 AM ^
That is a really good lineup. Could be another great season.
September 26th, 2018 at 10:38 AM ^
Looks good. I don’t think Teske is a 25 min per game dude. I’d say he’ll 18-20...
September 26th, 2018 at 12:26 PM ^
Definitely could be right about that. I would think Teske getting minutes 21-25 is much preferred to Davis getting minutes 11-15 or 16-20 even. So all depends on Livers/Johns ability to hold their own as small ball 5s.
September 26th, 2018 at 1:26 PM ^
The team averaged 74 ppg last year. I think we'll be right near that this year and a continued run on defense.
Matthews 17; Poole 15, Z 12, Iggy 10, Teske 8, Livers 7, Others 6 = 75 ppg

Ignas will be all big ten ! Mark it down
