The State Of Our Open Threads: After Nebraska
Well, if the numbers are indeed accurate - and they usually are - our start to the conference schedule was a relatively stress-free affair, and of course, what we all saw on the field would be in line with that. This one was certainly never in doubt.
We'll start with overall efficiency, which as you may remember is simply the quotient of number of posts over instances of tracked words. It was 4.78 for this game - 1,330 posts and 278 tracked words. This is in line with comfortable and blowout wins even going back to the days of Hoke, when I began doing these analyses. The most "relaxing" game last year was Minnesota at 3.87, for some perspective.
There were only 72 fucks given, and most of them were positively spun at that. The 33 shits and 24 damns were also most associated with positive developments in the game, with the few negative instances in each case coming around the time of the Hudson targeting calls as well as with other "interesting officiating moments", if you will.
It is interesting to note that so far this year, the average of fucks is 139 per game, whereas after the first four games last years, it was 281 fucks per game. Of course, the first four games last year had considerably more stressful moments, so there's that. Also, participation is down in the open threads too - an average of 1,554 posts per game this year, down from 2,491 over the first four games last year. The trends are similar with most of the board's normal standy words.
Other highlights from yesterday:
- 6 people did say "fire", but it was either in jest or directed at Scott Frost.
- 32 people said something sucked, but most of them agree that it was Nebraska
- Only 21 mentions of Harbaugh. I think people were to into the game to bitch about coaching nuance.
- The offense, which was bitched at to the tune of 105 times during the SMU thread, only saw 28 mentions this game, most of them complimentary.

Question - Does saying "This is without a doubt the best fucking Michigan-Nebraska game I have ever seen, I am so fucking happy right now" count as:
Two - Specific number of fucks
Once - Used twice, but in same sentence
Zero - When used in pure joy and rapture, they don't count.
Just would like to understand the fucking assumptions underlying this analysis, LSA...

Each incidence of fucking is special and statistically significant.

You've got that right.

My wife agrees unfortunately...rules out the occasional dine and dash

I was pretty close to writing that "Michigan's running game is on fire", but I have no desire to detract from an actually interesting fan reaction analysis.

A man was asked for his title. He said, "Sex Consultant"
He was asked for an explanation. He said, "My wife gave it to me."
He was asked to explain further. "Well my wife told me, 'When I want your fucking advice, I will ask for your fucking advice'."
So, yes, all fucks are significant and stand on their own merit.

The kibitz or whatever it is sucks. Last year was better. I’m fine looking at the thread on the board
