FULLBACK TOUCHDOWNS!!!
September 22nd, 2018 at 4:43 PM ^
Ben Mason is an ideal mix of Mike Alstott and Travis Bickle.
September 26th, 2018 at 12:47 AM ^
No, Mason is not Mike Alstott. Go to YouTube and bring up some Alstott highlights with Purdue.
If Mason were the next Alstott he'd be the leading ball carrier. Could Mason become the next Alstott? Possibly but not likely.
September 22nd, 2018 at 4:53 PM ^
Seriously - if you're a fullback, why would you go to any other school?
September 22nd, 2018 at 5:10 PM ^
Because you will sit behind Ben Mason.
September 23rd, 2018 at 11:17 AM ^
I have every confidence that Bo would have loved this kid.
The only way his performance could have been better is if Brandy and Dierdorf referred to him as "Murderface" (kudos to Brian for one of the great nicknames of our time.)

DCaff looks good!
September 22nd, 2018 at 3:57 PM ^
No doubt now who the heir apparent is if Shea leaves after this season. Dylan looks cool, poised, and competent back there.
September 22nd, 2018 at 4:10 PM ^
and fast
September 22nd, 2018 at 4:16 PM ^
Lol yeah, he doesn't look like his brother Christian out there but he is deceptively fast, and he doesn't hesitate.
High football IQ, very good athlete, accurate, poised, good size, still adding muscle and coachable...just what Harbaugh needed going forward.
September 22nd, 2018 at 4:59 PM ^
now, I am not sure who will win a track race between McCaffery brothers.
September 22nd, 2018 at 8:10 PM ^
Gym rat
first in last out
deceptive speed

September 22nd, 2018 at 8:57 PM ^
If you are implying Shea might go the NFL after this season you can rest easy. There is NO chance of that.
September 22nd, 2018 at 4:12 PM ^
He’s raw at times but really clearly has talent. I haven’t felt this good about Michigan’s QB situation in ages.
September 22nd, 2018 at 6:45 PM ^
That holding call on Oliver Martin was bullshit
September 23rd, 2018 at 10:02 AM ^
The only complaint I have about the offense today is that we might have thrown away a couple games last year by keeping McCaffrey on the bench.
I would definitely keep rolling with Patterson but I saw a couple NFL throws yesterday and they were not tossed by #2.
September 22nd, 2018 at 3:34 PM ^
Everybody is good now!!!
September 22nd, 2018 at 3:35 PM ^
86 peters
September 22nd, 2018 at 3:38 PM ^
No. Pretty sure he's #18.
September 22nd, 2018 at 3:42 PM ^
Is he still a little hurt? Looked kind of limpy.
September 22nd, 2018 at 3:48 PM ^
Yeah, it's been weird how this was his first pass of the year and it looked just...off. I have to assume that the injury he suffered to start the year hasn't quite healed up. At least McCaffrey has filled in well and Patterson seems to be staying upright way more than last year's QBs.
September 22nd, 2018 at 7:04 PM ^
They wouldn't play him if he wasn't good to go. Peters is clearly 3 on the depth chart.
September 22nd, 2018 at 3:48 PM ^
Nah, just not good.
September 22nd, 2018 at 3:48 PM ^
Nah, just not good.

Hi Mineral King/Michigan1984/SkyPanther! How are things?
For the life of me I don't understand why you feel such a need to tear down one of our own players. Be a fan of the entire team, not just certain guys.
September 22nd, 2018 at 5:31 PM ^
@snarling wolverine who are you talking to?
September 22nd, 2018 at 9:00 PM ^
Way to be sensitive.
September 22nd, 2018 at 5:06 PM ^
So glad we get to downvote you twice
September 22nd, 2018 at 6:39 PM ^
Downvote everyone else saying how much better McCaffrey has looked, too. Clown.
September 22nd, 2018 at 10:11 PM ^
Clown? The Jersey Shore called circa 2012: it wants its insults back.
There is a difference between praising one guy who did well and tearing down another player because he did not. All players make some mistakes, to which loudmouths make absolute judgements on those who they wa t to tear down.

For a freshman last year Peters was great . But I think today is the last we see of him...
September 22nd, 2018 at 3:46 PM ^
Something seemed off with his delivery on that ball. I honestly don't know what happened to him in the offseason; I think McCaffrey has looked fine, but he's not better than Peters was last year so that's a little dispiriting that Peters has fallen that far.
September 22nd, 2018 at 3:50 PM ^
? In a limited window, McCaffrey has DEFINITELY been better than Peters was last year. More confident, more mobile, more efficient, no TOs. McCaffrey is better than Peters without a doubt.
September 22nd, 2018 at 4:04 PM ^
Peters has thrown one pass all year, so this is the tiniest of windows anyway. But Peters started the year injured and seemed off in this game.
Also, McCaffrey has been perfectly fine and looks like a fine option going forward. But he still seems slight and his arm strength will need to continue to improve. I'm not trying to say he's a bad player, but he's completed 53% of his passes and about half of his season yards came on that one TD to Bell deep in a blowout. I'm more interested in knowing what is up with Peters, but if Patterson goes down I'm not sold that McCaffrey would be able to keep up this season.
September 22nd, 2018 at 6:30 PM ^
Couple of his incomplete passes should have been caught, clearly on target. He is no doubt more athletic.
September 22nd, 2018 at 9:03 PM ^
Patterson is worth at least two wins. If he goes down, that’s the difference in the record for the season. Dylan WILL be valuable, but he cannot carry us this season as a starter (yet)
September 22nd, 2018 at 4:01 PM ^
I don't see that. McCaffrey has looked waaay better in limited action so far than Peters did at any point last year. Peters best game elicited a OK! We have a functional QB!' McCaffrey looks to be better than functional.
If McCaffrey of this year was able to magically go back in time and start all of last year (stay healthy), we win at least 2 more games... OSU and MSU. And possibly a 3rd against Wisc.
September 22nd, 2018 at 4:10 PM ^
John O'Korn looked like the second coming against Purdue, then progressively got worse as teams prepared for him. McCaffrey has played mostly against backups. Again, I like him and think he'll be the likely starter if Patterson leaves, but I'm also not going to read too much into how a guy looks playing against a bad team's second-string defense up 50.
September 22nd, 2018 at 4:35 PM ^
I didn't see Nebraska's 2nd string defense out there against McCaffrey. Even later the interception was by a starting CB.
September 22nd, 2018 at 7:56 PM ^
why you have to bring up O’Korn? Unless it’s a Russell Bellamy comparison....
September 23rd, 2018 at 9:34 AM ^
bronxblue: McCaffrey has played mostly against backups WITH backup second-string WR's. I thought Harbaugh should have played him last year but I didn't want to second guess him. This year, there is no question. Confidence, pocket aware, accuracy, deceptively fast, football IQ...
September 23rd, 2018 at 6:34 AM ^
We definitely win the bowl game too.
September 22nd, 2018 at 4:07 PM ^
I don't think the coaches had trust in Peters last year because they were running the "let's make sure the QB doesn't screw up" offense when he was starting. Granted Dcaff has been playing garbage time but I feel way more confident with him as #2 than Peters.
September 22nd, 2018 at 4:14 PM ^

not trying to be clever. just pointing out that you’re an ass
September 22nd, 2018 at 3:37 PM ^
Between Patterson and McCaffrey, this is the most optimistic I've allowed myself to be about our QB situation in over a decade. I'm still cautious, make no mistake, but it's lookin good at this point.
September 22nd, 2018 at 9:05 PM ^
I felt pretty good about our QBs at the end of 2010, before the bowl game.
September 22nd, 2018 at 10:10 PM ^
But not because they could actually you know, throw the ball.
