Lol yeah, he doesn't look like his brother Christian out there but he is deceptively fast, and he doesn't hesitate.

High football IQ, very good athlete, accurate, poised, good size, still adding muscle and coachable...just what Harbaugh needed going forward.

Yeah, it's been weird how this was his first pass of the year and it looked just...off.  I have to assume that the injury he suffered to start the year hasn't quite healed up.  At least McCaffrey has filled in well and Patterson seems to be staying upright way more than last year's QBs.

Something seemed off with his delivery on that ball.  I honestly don't know what happened to him in the offseason; I think McCaffrey has looked fine, but he's not better than Peters was last year so that's a little dispiriting that Peters has fallen that far.

Peters has thrown one pass all year, so this is the tiniest of windows anyway.  But Peters started the year injured and seemed off in this game.

Also, McCaffrey has been perfectly fine and looks like a fine option going forward.  But he still seems slight and his arm strength will need to continue to improve.  I'm not trying to say he's a bad player, but he's completed 53% of his passes and about half of his season yards came on that one TD to Bell deep in a blowout.  I'm more interested in knowing what is up with Peters, but if Patterson goes down I'm not sold that McCaffrey would be able to keep up this season.

I don't see that.  McCaffrey has looked waaay better in limited action so far than Peters did at any point last year.  Peters best game elicited a OK!  We have a functional QB!'  McCaffrey looks to be better than functional.

If McCaffrey of this year was able to magically go back in time and start all of last year (stay healthy), we win at least 2 more games... OSU and MSU.  And possibly a 3rd against Wisc.

John O'Korn looked like the second coming against Purdue, then progressively got worse as teams prepared for him.  McCaffrey has played mostly against backups.  Again, I like him and think he'll be the likely starter if Patterson leaves, but I'm also not going to read too much into how a guy looks playing against a bad team's second-string defense up 50.

Between Patterson and McCaffrey, this is the most optimistic I've allowed myself to be about our QB situation in over a decade. I'm still cautious, make no mistake, but it's lookin good at this point.
