Game Day Weather

Submitted by mgoweather on

Remember last week how we wore shorts & tanks? Not so much this Saturday! Whoever wanted Fall, your request has been filled! A cold front moving through on Friday will bring gusty winds & some scattered rain, but on the backside of it we'll have cool & comfy conditions for the weekend, along with some sun. Our morning will be chilly but the afternoon looks pleasant. It's a fantastic first official day of Fall in the Big House! Go blue!

Tailgating

Skip the cup and grab the carafe of hot coffee for this morning tailgate! Temps Saturday morning will drop into the 40s! Quite the wake up call verses the 70s Friday morning! If you're thinking about whining - don't - this is relatively close to our normal temperatures for this time of year. Winds will be out of the north at around 10mph (leaves will stay in motion) to start the early part of our day. The sunrise time is now 7:22am for you early risers. By mid-morning, we'll be into the mid 50s with sun & clouds - just chilly enough for everyone to keep eating all of your crockpot breakfast casserole! Winds will shift a bit to the NNE, staying at around 10mph.

Kickoff

It's a great day for hoodies, football, & Nebraska to lose! Don't forget to grab your sunglasses or hat from the tailgate tent or the car - we're going to have plenty of sunshine along with some of those clouds. UV levels will be around a 5/10 for the afternoon, so if you are sensitive to the sun you may want to add sunscreen to your routine before heading out for the day. By gametime we'll have warmed to near 60 degrees, keeping a wind out of the NE around 5mph (just enough to feel it on your skin).

Halftime

Light winds will start to become more easterly for the second half of the game. We're edging into the mid 60s by halftime with some clouds still hanging out to watch the game end with us. It will be comfy with very low humidity - dewpoints will be in the 40s! For comparison, they were near 70 Friday when it was so muggy.

Post-Game

Who's heading out to celebrate a win?! Heading back to tailgate more? You'll have awesome weather for it! Winds will be very light, generally out of the east, for the remainder of the afternoon and into the late-night. We'll be in the mid 60s until around dinner-time when we start to drop to near 60. Mostly sunny conditions will be present for the end of the day, but those mainly clear skies let temps fall pretty quickly. By 11pm, we're nearing 50, and by last call we're back into the upper 40s! Definitely not the best night to forget your sweatshirt or jacket! You'll be woken up early Sunday by mid 40s & bright sunshine - which depending on how much you celebrated the win, will either kick start your day or make you crawl outta bed to close the blinds asap! Sunday brings afternoon highs in the upper 60s. C'mon blue, bring home that win!
