like someone said the other day, insert next 5 star
September 20th, 2018 at 1:03 PM ^
Like someone else said, they're always back for The Game.
September 20th, 2018 at 1:10 PM ^
That was me, and I'm sure every one else on the board shares the same sentiment.
This is obviously a huge blow to OSU but they have so many stars on their D Line, I don't think it's going to really impact their ability to win.
September 20th, 2018 at 2:09 PM ^
I do think it will have an impact against Penn State. Enough for them to lose, I don't know. But there will be a noticeable difference. On the road, at night, against probably the best QB in the conference. Whoever is backing up Nick Bosa is undoubtedly a good football player. But he is not Nick Bosa.
I mentioned this in a post a little further down, but if Bosa being out means that McSorely has even a half second more to survey the field and make throws, that could be the difference between a win and a loss.
September 20th, 2018 at 3:10 PM ^
OTOH, the struggled against App State....not sure missing Bosa will mean a damn thing.
September 20th, 2018 at 3:13 PM ^
Their offense scored 45 points (38 in regulation) against app st. They didn't "struggle" on that side of the ball.
September 20th, 2018 at 5:52 PM ^
he's an overrated fuckhead
September 20th, 2018 at 3:49 PM ^
The best qb in the B1G plays for osu lol
September 20th, 2018 at 3:53 PM ^
Alright let's put it this way: the most experienced, and by far the most proven QB in the Big Ten plays for Penn State. And that counts for a lot in a game like this.
No matter how talented Haskins is, I'd say this is going to be the loudest and by far the most hostile environment he's played in to date.
September 20th, 2018 at 6:14 PM ^
It pains me to say this, but Bosa was the best D lineman in B1G this year. Much like Mo being gone this year, it will affect them. Affect them enough to make a big difference? Who knows, but a difference for sure. And yes, OSU can plug in another very good D lineman, but they won't be Bosa.
September 20th, 2018 at 2:09 PM ^
Yea, but there's a difference between a regular 5 star and a Bosa. He was closer to Gary level as a recruit than he was to generic 4 star, and he's a fucking stud. It's a massive loss, and regardless of how many games he misses, he'll be hampered in The Game.
The fact that they're going with the "indefinite" route makes me believe it'll be a minimum of 6-8 weeks, and even if it's 6, the odds of him being able to recover and regain stamina in order to play at his capabilities by November 24th is slim. I'm assuming Ohio State knows this and they're hoping he's back for a potential playoff appearance.
September 20th, 2018 at 3:11 PM ^
I tend to agree with this. He is a projected top 5 pick in the draft. Not really a plug and play situation with zero blip. They'll feel the effects.
September 20th, 2018 at 1:03 PM ^
"Out indefinitely"
I believe that's code for "out until the Michigan game"
September 20th, 2018 at 1:39 PM ^
yep. Just in time to break Shea's collarbone
September 20th, 2018 at 1:54 PM ^
Asinine comment for the day, and you had plenty of good competition to boot!
September 20th, 2018 at 2:00 PM ^
Someone should "Dong Punch" you for this comment. Hard.
(And if you happen to be a woman, you deserve the female equivalent, an "Upper Cunt").
September 20th, 2018 at 2:08 PM ^
That's cute how you think Shea is going to make it all the way to The Game without being hurt.
If recent history is any guide, Joe Milton will be getting his first start against OSU.
September 20th, 2018 at 6:15 PM ^
Joe Milton will never start a game for Michigan at QB.
September 20th, 2018 at 1:04 PM ^
Its about 6 weeks, He'll be back for the game
September 20th, 2018 at 2:21 PM ^
It's 9+ weeks. That's not about 6.
September 20th, 2018 at 1:05 PM ^
When life throws you lemons, buy more ball lifters.
September 20th, 2018 at 1:26 PM ^
...except excessive ball lifting could lead to more core muscle injuries, especially if done in a haphazard or careless manner.
September 20th, 2018 at 1:37 PM ^
And this is just how we want it! I want OSU at full . . . ahh fuck it. Who am I kidding?
September 20th, 2018 at 2:32 PM ^
At some point, karma has to catch up with them and this could be one of the ways it happens.
September 20th, 2018 at 1:07 PM ^
Of course he will be back for The Game.
I bet PSU fans are happy right now. This will certainly be a huge loss for OSU regardless if they just plug in another 5 star or not. Bosa is top 5-10 pick.
September 20th, 2018 at 1:08 PM ^
I'm sure his backup will be even better, because that's how things tend to work out for OSU.
September 20th, 2018 at 1:12 PM ^
I thought the tide was turning
I think Hoke has changed the tide on the rivalry. Hell people in Ohio are starting to believe him. Never in a million years I would have thought that. Selling Michigan jerseys is a good start.
September 20th, 2018 at 1:15 PM ^
OSU's d-line actually looked better after he left the game against TCU.
September 20th, 2018 at 2:18 PM ^
Was that before or after he created a defensive touchdown?
September 20th, 2018 at 2:25 PM ^
I think you meant before he created a safety.
September 20th, 2018 at 1:15 PM ^
Bosa will be 100% by the Michigan game. But he won't play...because he won't be needed... because his backup will be ten times better...and he'll win the Heisman.
If you don't expect these things to happen to OSU by now, you haven't been paying attention.
September 20th, 2018 at 1:12 PM ^
No, it's not insert the next 5*. Bosa is an absolute beast. The guy behind him will probably be good, but not Bosa-level. This is a big deal.
September 20th, 2018 at 1:36 PM ^
But the guy behind him still might be a 5*. He didn't say "insert the next Bosa," did he? There's not another one is there? Now I'm freaking out, man!
September 20th, 2018 at 1:58 PM ^
Other than his brother, no, there isn't another.
September 20th, 2018 at 5:36 PM ^
Yes there are a seemingly infinite number of Bosas, kinda like there’s a seemingly infinite number of Bulloughs.
September 20th, 2018 at 7:27 PM ^
And McCaffreys
September 20th, 2018 at 1:46 PM ^
We thought the same thing about Haskins. Next guy up could be just as good.
September 20th, 2018 at 1:52 PM ^
That's not true. I think most people on this board would take Barrett for the next 100 years if we could.
September 20th, 2018 at 3:45 PM ^
Yep. Barrett was actually quite terrible. Haskins has sadly taken that program to another two levels...
September 20th, 2018 at 1:13 PM ^
No. He is texting his agent from his bed.
September 20th, 2018 at 1:16 PM ^
what injury? what kind of surgery? you ask a question about players with a similar injury, but don't describe his injury.
September 20th, 2018 at 1:34 PM ^
Hernia. Normal people take 1-2 months to return from hernia surgery. Returning to being a college football player is another story.
September 20th, 2018 at 1:49 PM ^
Didn't Verlander have this surgery or am I not remembering correctly? I thought he did and it took a while for him to recover.
September 20th, 2018 at 4:07 PM ^
I have had two hernia operations. The surgery is not a big deal, assuming what Bosa had was similar, but I was told to not lift more than 10 pounds for six weeks, after each surgery and I'm a gym rat.
Bosa is gone after this year and stands to have a huge pay day. I don't care if he is back or not but he is a talent and if it were me, I'd be conservative with my recovery.
September 20th, 2018 at 6:22 PM ^
I had hernia surgery. My leg on that side never felt the same again. It felt like something always delayed it's reaction. Like i had to consciously add a second effort to make it react the same as before.
September 20th, 2018 at 1:16 PM ^
Hopefully he sits out the entire year. He should really consider his draft stock when deciding if he wants to rush back from injury. We all know Urban will do anything to win, including rushing a player back from injury.
September 20th, 2018 at 4:36 PM ^
Seriously though, if I am Nick Boas, no way I come back this year- I would say the same if R. Gary had the same injury. Why risk millions for a few college games? I wouldn't.
September 20th, 2018 at 1:17 PM ^
What a coincidence, I pulled a back muscle humping his mom the other night.
Get well soon (sometime in 2019).
September 20th, 2018 at 1:21 PM ^
Brandon Peters upgraded to “questionable” this week. He is still recovering from a knee injury.
