Daxton Hill Commits To Michigan Comment Count

Brian

Hot damn:

Hill is a five star ranked #12 overall on the composite; Michigan beat out Alabama, Alabama, and Alabama for his commitment. Also Oklahoma State and Oklahoma amongst a wide array of other schools who didn't make Hill's top five. Hill's a safety who has a 4.3 40 listed as a "verified result" on his 24/7 page and promises to be the kind of multi-purpose tool who really makes Don Brown's defense sing, the kind of gentleman who can cover James Proche in the slot and come down to bust up run games.

And we (me at least!) almost forget that despite elite DB play for years, safety is a bit of a question mark in the future. Wouldn’t shock me if Daxton was starting week 1 as a true frosh

Harrison is a different case. He's from Ohio and plays a position that OSU has been very successful at developing into superstars and seeing them drafted in early rounds. If it weren't for Larry Johnson I would give UM a much better shot with him. Johnson is loved by players and perceived to be the best D line coach in the nation. Just look at the list of guys that he's developed into studs and sent to the league in the last several years.

Harrison is certainly a different case and he clearly respects Johnson as a coach. But fortunately for Michigan he is different in similar ways that Hill is/was different. Zach is very mature in a relative sense and appears to be able to sort through this process in a thoughtful manner. And here, I think Michigan is in a very good place with him due to Hill coming on board...plus having a kid like Hinton as well. The elite uncommitted kids from this class are certainly going to take notice of what Daxton Hill just decided...and this already excellent class is lined up to become exceptional.
