Who do you follow on Twitter for Michigan Football stuff?

Submitted by Caesar on

Hello folks,

Aside from some of the obvious ones (the MGoCrew, Magnus, Space Coyote), who do you follow on Twitter for Michigan stuff? There can be different categories, for example:

  • Recruiting News
  • Gameday Live Analysis
  • Michigan News
  • Post-Game Analysis

Thanks for this post as I'm always looking for new follows. Here are my top ones:

@WolverineLounge, @wolverineswire, @Maizenbrew: general news and stories

@grant_newsome and @jakelong77: player's perspective

@sbell021: great at trolling rival fan bases (in particular Sparty)

@ItsAntWright: overall entertaining follow from former UM b-ball player

@SamWebb77: recruiting (although I typically learn more from Mgoblog)

@AaronBDesigns: I like his graphic design work

I'm usually too focused on the TV to follow anyone for real-time updates. But occasionally will look at @Nickbaumgardner posts during and after the game to get some less biased takes.

Ones that I haven't seen mentioned yet:

@internetraj - His contributions to Punt/Counterpunt on here are just a taste as to his usual Twitter output

@blueandjoe - I appreciate, among other things, his graphic design prowess (the designer of Ace's soon-to-be-on-his-body tattoo deserves a follow)

@smoothitron - quips, GIFs, dank photoshop memes, etc.

The list of amazing M photographers: @EUpchurchphoto, @MGoFrenchy, @DJPhotoVideo, @isaiahhole, @BlueBarronPhoto, @FullofTwitt, @Andysaidgoblue (I'm probably forgetting someone)

No one, really. I actually don’t have a twitter account. Not because I think it’s stupid or anything like that.

It’s just one more social media outlet that can distract me and suck up my time.

This.  I have dropped all social media besides FB, but it's only active because it's easier for my mom/grandma/extended family to get a hold of me through that than phone I guess.  Havent posted on it in years tho.

Social media makes it too easy for the dregs of society to voice their ignorant garbage, that used to only be heard by their basement walls, to hundreds or thousands of people.

So it comes with a huge POLITICS warning, because that's her actual job, but every Saturday in the fall Jane Coaston (@cjane87) becomes a great Michigan Football follow.

My Twitter feed is my anti-MGoBlog. It's all politics, all the time.

Though there is this guy called Sports Days Past who posts the best full color historical sports photos. I highly recommend following him.

I'm surprised Adam Ghabour @qb9adam hasn't been listed yet

In 2017 he was basically doing it as a hobby yet was easily one of the best. Now hes working for some michigan news group but hes still solid. Hes definitely the most active michigan recruiting news guy on Twitter

Then there's the usual Lorenz, Webb, brown, dudek, etc

All good answers. I hope whoever runs the Michigan Basketball twitter account reads this: There is no need to live-tweet games. Please stop. There are apps for that. You clutter my feed so. I hate to mute an otherwise good account. Sorry not sorry.

In addition to those I also follow @MGoFish, Garrett Fishaw.  His main value is he follows a wider net of people than I do, including a lot of players and local reporters and retweets useful stuff that I'd otherwise miss.

I created a public Twitter list of 200+ accounts that primarily tweet about Michigan football and M sports.  Anyone can subscribe/follow:

I only tweet recruits. /s

I don't have a twitter, is there a way to aggregate twitter posts similar to RSS feeds without requiring an actual twitter account?  Perhaps I should create one but then again I haven't made a post on facebook in 7 years either.

I'll get off my own lawn now...
