TCU/SMU Open Thread

Submitted by enlightenedbum on

Next week's opponent finally kicked off after a two hour lightning delay and scored on a ~50 yard run on their first drive.  Their opponent is TCU, who play Ohio State next week in what should be the Buckeyes' first test.

I was hoping TCU would give OSU a game... After watching this I'm pretty sure that OSU will put up 600 yards of offense against them. I also have a dreadful suspicion that Weber will emerge as one of the top backs in the nation this season. That's a kick in the nuts because I was almost sure that he wouldn't do much of anything down there

Following what should have been a INT by SMU on 3rd down, the snap goes high on the punter who picks it up, drops it and it goes through the endzone for a safety making it 9-0.  Sloppy field.  Sloppy game by TCU thus far, getting outplayed by SMU.

I mean he’s only played against Oregon State, but it doesn’t look like they have any competition until they play Michigan this year. Mayyyyybe Michigan State, but they didn’t look good last week either.

I don't think they'll be really challenged until The Game. I legitimately wish that they could have played JT for a decade. It was hilarious to watch that offense struggle even though they have 5 star athlets all over the field. The fact thay Meyer refused to bench Barrett in favor of the obviously superior younger guy is evidence that he's stubborn to a fault

I watched a ton of college football last weekend and I didn't see a team that looked obviously better than OSU. Their secondary looked green but other than that they looked like a top team. That bodes well for M's playoff hopes if theytcan somehow get through the rest of the season without losing again.

I agree with you 100%, they play absolutely nobody at all. Penn State looks bad, Michigan State looks bad, Wisconsin didn’t impress me much either. I think either Clemson or Bama could beat them. I don’t see Bama losing a game. Tau (not sure if that’s spelled correctly) is a monster. I feel like we’re one week in and it’s either Bama vs OSU or Bama vs Clemson for the natty. Shitty feeing IMO.

I don't think Clemson could win a shootout with OSU... Bams is a different story. Sadly, I think haskins is far better that Tua... #1 overall pick type qb. And that's fucking bizarre considering the shit show that OSU has put out at qb for the better part of 100 years (outside of smith). They've never had a top passing QB but they're somehow now fielding one of the best in the country. They have a horseshoe stuck up their ass

I'd feel better watching SMU play pretty well if I had data from Michigan playing well against WMU to reassure myself that against teams with less talent Michigan can perform well.

I mean, I think that's the case, but we haven't seen it yet.

Having watched TCU in person last weekend, Ohio State is going to beat them handily. This performance so far against a fairly mediocre SMU team is further confirmation.

Honestly it was hilarious and also the quintessential Lions moment. What better way to symbolize the futility of the team than for the backup QB to run out the back of the endzone on the road during a winless season. "Same old Lions."

Moments like that are what we show to the world when they try to comprehend what it is like to be a Lions fan.
