Who stays and who goes early?
Yes I know much can change by the end of the season, and it’s only opinion at this point, but I’d like to hear thoughts on which underclassmen we may lose after this season. My thoughts:
Patterson- Likely gone. The rumor has been that he is a one and done and has been in some first round mocks. However, I guess maybe it’s just me, but I don’t see first round talent yet. We will see.
Bredeson- Thinking he would stay. Gosh I hope at least.
Gary- gone.
Bush- Likely gone. Probably a first or second round pick.
Hudson- No idea. Not really sure how the NFL views him a prospect. A return by him would be huge.
Long and Hill- Both guys are probably in the same boat. Leaning towards both will go and be top 3 round picks. Would be great if one returned.

This won’t end well.

A typical, 1,000 times used post by a poster on this site. "This won't end well", super original but it blows up in your boring face when you hope others will mock the poster. Guess your response didn't go well.

They should all return if we don’t win a championship this year.
September 7th, 2018 at 8:14 AM ^
Well...we shall see if Chase Winovich regrets his decision. Hopefully our offense rights the ship on the shit show it has become.
If im a defensive player I’m pretty disappointed in the progress made. To say that you’re coming back to win a championship and watch that debacle on the Oline with no quick fix in sight had to piss some of the D guys off. It’s all on them again ....
Also, is Shea Patterson really good enough to go pro after this year? Can he showcase himself with our current situation? He may have the it factor but it’s hard to hide the fact that he is small in stature...something pro scouts will undoubtedly be critical of.
September 7th, 2018 at 4:30 PM ^
I don't see it (yet). He had a good arm and obviously is an excellent athlete but the NFL is likely suspicious of small QB's.
September 6th, 2018 at 9:06 PM ^
Probably all of them... does it matter?
Elite teams reload and develop. We haven't been elite in over a decade.
Hopefully this changes.
September 6th, 2018 at 9:22 PM ^
We haven't been elite since 1997, before that it was 1948.
September 6th, 2018 at 9:50 PM ^
Michigan will always be elite. Individual sports will wax and wane in strength over time as should be expected.

Great movie.

"Reload?" Michigan is one more season away from the "reload and develop" phase. Sometimes it seems like a lot of people don't remember just how much of a clusterfuck the program was under David Brandon. A full five year rebuild was necessary. This is only the beginning of year four.
At this point, I agree with Brian. The OT position is still toast. And it is one of the most important positions on the team. I am hoping it is at least tolerable by next year. The ND game may have sucked, but they really aren't that far away and ND could turn out to be a playoff team this year.
If ND does make the playoffs, a seven point loss in the first game isn't going to look all that bad in retrospect.
September 7th, 2018 at 10:31 AM ^
You said the exact same thing about Rich Rod, save it. Nobody expected us to be where we are in year 4 under Harbaugh. Nobody. To say "a full five year rebuild was necessary" is just you making yourself sound like the smartest guy in the room. If things were so bad how did we go 10-3 and 10-3 the first two years? Is it too much to ask to build on that success by year 4?
September 7th, 2018 at 4:33 PM ^
Spot on.
His claim that a 5 year rebuild was expected is total bullshit. Like you said, nobody was saying, "UM just hired Jim Harbaugh but it will be at least 5 years before they can even think about the playoffs."

They can't beat anyone with a pulse in college, might as well go...
Neg me. Points don't matter. Nothing matters.
Eat at Arby's.

I agree with everything except Arbys
September 6th, 2018 at 9:51 PM ^
Then where do you eat? I thought that was the nicest restaurant in Ohio.
September 6th, 2018 at 10:34 PM ^
They do have the meats.
September 7th, 2018 at 1:56 AM ^
I agree with none of that but Arbys.
September 7th, 2018 at 11:03 AM ^
That chicken slider at Arby's is money. I'm talking about the regular sandwich, not that thing with the buffalo sauce.

Thank you. He is one of my favorite singers/performers of all time. We lost a great one when he passed.

Boy, you can say that again... he was the first time a complete stranger died, that I felt like a family member passed... I still remember seeing the headline in the Free Press...

Unless we get better Oline play, Patterson will be lucky to make it through the season.
September 6th, 2018 at 9:21 PM ^
Would anyone blame Patterson for leaving given our OL situation? It's frankly absurd that 1 position group has continued to derail season after season
September 6th, 2018 at 9:23 PM ^
1 with broken neck and 1 with PTSD.
This has been going on a while - Shane Morris.
September 7th, 2018 at 10:31 AM ^
The OL will be fixed around week 4, I hope... I'd like to see Owenu sit, who seems only to half-ass it, being that fat, and he cant pull, for Spanellis or Filiaga... and I'd like to see Mayfield and Hudson see live bullets these few games and take over. Wishful thinking.. but my gosh, Harbaugh dropped the ball, despite people screaming here about the tackles the past three years...not even getting a grad transfer was a surprise....
September 6th, 2018 at 9:24 PM ^
OP---Did you used to write songs for The Clash?
September 6th, 2018 at 9:24 PM ^
Physically Patterson looks ready, but I think it depends on how well he shows he can pick up a new system. Just needs to look like Rudock did by the end of his year.
September 6th, 2018 at 9:28 PM ^
It's week 2. Nobody wants to talk about this.
September 6th, 2018 at 9:30 PM ^
I actually don’t know because that is in the future.
September 6th, 2018 at 9:30 PM ^
Hudson? Like... James Hudson? Why the hell would he leave? He doesn't even play does he?
September 6th, 2018 at 9:34 PM ^
Khaleke?
September 6th, 2018 at 9:43 PM ^
Or ya know... returning defensive starter Khaleke Hudson that tied an NCAA record last season...

One White Russian too many tonight, dude? You forget about Khaleke?

September 7th, 2018 at 10:28 AM ^
To be fair, the negative MILLION points you have is slightly misleading there
September 6th, 2018 at 9:34 PM ^
I hope Patterson leaves it was pointless to bring him in anyways
September 6th, 2018 at 10:01 PM ^
Fuck off troll
September 7th, 2018 at 1:25 AM ^
Wow Marcus. I knew you were angry, but damn.
September 7th, 2018 at 4:40 PM ^
It's not a popular thing to say but I agree with you. I think DMac could have turned in the stats that Patterson did last weekend... What was the point in shitting on the guys who actually signed up for you coming out of HS in favor of a mediocre sec QB who only wanted to cut bait from ole Miss after freeze got caught? It doesn't send a good message to the locker room or potential future recruits. Not a wise move by Harbaugh, imo.
September 6th, 2018 at 9:35 PM ^
Gary is gone after this season. Nothing will change that. Even if he doesn’t have a dominant season, he’ll still be drafted in or near the top-10 based solely on his potential.
Bush isn’t a certainty to leave, but I wouldn’t bet on him coming back. No idea about Long, Hill or Hudson. Depends on the seasons they have.
I've heard the chatter about Patterson making this a one and done year as well. If he has a good year he should go. I wouldn’t blame him for not wanting to stand behind this OL for longer than he has to. And this year’s QB class is very weak compared to how it was last year. He could work his way into the first round without having a first round caliber year.
September 6th, 2018 at 9:45 PM ^
But if Patterson has a good season wouldn’t that mean that our OL improved or the coaches figured out how to utilize his mobility. Either way would be good with me.
September 6th, 2018 at 9:38 PM ^
It's adorable that OP thinks our QB is going to make it through a whole season uninjured.
September 6th, 2018 at 9:39 PM ^
Wouldn’t be surprised if Harbaugh heads back to the NFL.
September 6th, 2018 at 9:49 PM ^
Why the hell would you talk about this NOW?
September 6th, 2018 at 10:38 PM ^
Gary also runs the risk of being drafted by the Lions, who after finishing 5-11, will have him in their sights. If that’s the case he may be back!
