ND UM Playoff Rematch

Submitted by Catchafire on

If ND wins out and Michigan wins out, there is a strong chance we both go to the playoffs for a rematch.  Stranger things have happened.

Bring on Western Michigan!

There's almost a zero percent chance that happens. Might as well daydream about hot chicks or something.

Reminds me of an insane conversation I heard the other day at Meijer.

Two semi-attractive women, late teens - early 20's.  Seemed like they knew each other back in HS and were catching up.

They were both in college, but neither cared about their field of study.  Like at all.  Their only purpose in attending was to find a rich husband.

I started laughing and had to walk away.  It was madness to hear out loud and in public.

A close friend of mine finished her 4 years at UofM with a straight 4.0.

She was choosing her law school from acceptances at Berkeley, UCLA, or another stint at Michigan. A brilliant, confident, highly capable and (incidentally) beautiful woman with the world at her feet; someone whose intellect, drive, and achievements I’ve always respected immensely.

She told me point blank she was only going to law school “to find a husband.”

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don't who you guys are hanging out with but half of my friends aren't married and support themselves. Some of them have never been married; some are divorced. Most of them have no interest in marriage and prefer to be independent financially. None of them are gay. I only know one woman who is clearly in the "I want a man to support me" camp and she is ironically divorced from a guy with a lot of dough who pulled a fast one and she got nothing. But on the upside, she had to dust off her architecture degree and now has a nice practice and is financially independent, aside from child support.

There's almost a zero percent chance both teams win out, but ND can almost certainly lose one and still get in.  And Michigan would almost certainly get in if they lose one more but still win the conference (so basically, they can lose one more if it isn't to OSU or in the title game).

The chances of that happening aren't as remote.  It's not entirely unrealistic.  Maybe like 2-4% chance, ha.

Could happen, but so could a lot of things. More likely than not ND is not winning out. We could, but man we have work to do.

Are you implying because of their schedule or how they looked?

I don't think they looked like at playoff team, not even top 10. If they looked like a playoff team, I don't think everyone would be as upset that we lost a night game road opener to them. We looked horrible... and yet a dropped interception still probably changes the outcome of that game.

It is just impossible to tell.  It is possible that they looked really good but were playing one of the better teams they will face all year.  When you have two good teams playing early in the year, there is just no baseline to go off of.  I personally thought that looked like one of the strongest ND teams that I have seen in a while, and was particularly impressed with their team speed on both sides of the ball.

Stranger Things have happened...on Netflix.  My wife and I watched this show...it's okay but after 4 or 5 episodes I'm sort of struggling to continue.  Didn't see an ND vs Michigan rematch episode though..is that in Season 2?
